Contemporary Cottage - An LA Oasis with Private Heated Pool and Patio
Tucked away in a peaceful setting with lush landscaping is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of LA. The Contemporary Cottage has the charm of a country cottage on the outside, with a fresh, contemporary design on the inside with a full kitchen. Or, fire up the patio grill and have a barbecue in a shady garden overlooking your private pool.
OPTION: Pool Heating - There is an additional charge to heat the pool.
The Guest House has a living room with high ceilings and a fireplace, as well as a separate full kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. It is furnished for your comfort, including a high-end sofa bed, a 40” TV with both Cable and 'Roku' channels that includes 'Netflix' movies and 'Pandora' music. The bedroom also has a TV with 'Roku'. Plus we have free wireless Internet. There are private indoor and outdoor dining areas, as well as your own washer and dryer.
The French doors in the living room open out to a brick patio, lovely landscaping, and a large pool for your enjoyment.
Unrestricted street parking is always available, and you have a private gate entrance with keyless code boxes for both gate and Cottage..
Your hosts, Michael and Laura, live in the main house, and are happy to help make your visit to Los Angeles very memorable!
If you book with us, we require that every guest sign a liability waiver for pool and BBQ Grill use.
We follow Enhanced Cleaning guidelines between stays.

We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at this clean, welcoming cottage. The garden is beautiful, and the pool was a highlight - I used it several times, even without heating. Our host was exceptionally kind and made every effort to ensure we were comfortable, including making the barbecue area ready for use. The bed was comfortable, the shower spacious and easy to access, and the small kitchen had what we needed. We also appreciated the laundry facilities, TV options, and convenient on-street parking. The street is quiet yet centrally located, with the nearest grocery store and shopping area about a 15-minute walk away.For the two of us, the cottage worked well. The indoor space is compact, so we would see it as best suited to a couple; with more people, it could feel crowded. Check-in and check-out was really easy. A lovely base for a relaxing stay, with a thoughtful and attentive host.

This cottage has everything you need to recharge and relax. It is truly an oasis. It’s hard to express how peaceful a place can be just outside of the metropolis of LA. The owners were very responsive and respectful. The cottage has a great bed, a full kitchen and living room with a fireplace but the pool is the star!!! Plenty of room on the deck for sunbathing or reading in the shade. The sound of songbirds dominate the rare interruption of silence. I will be back ASAP.

We loved this small welcoming cottage and private gardens. Wonderful neighborhood...neat, tidy, and well-appointed living space...quiet, calming property...helpful and friendly hosts. This retreat is a bargain, and a MUST for anyone staying in the Los Angeles area.

Michael is a great host. The property is beautiful and private. Loved our morning and evening swim! Located on a quiet residential street a few blocks from commercial areas with restaurants and grocery.

This is a home-away-from-home! Every interior space is so well planned and organized. The exterior is magnificent! Beautiful flowers and plants everywhere along with a tranquil swimming pool, make up your view from every window. It is a peaceful haven located perfectly to explore every corner of Los Angeles! I would heartily recommend it for solo travelers, couples, and small families!!

Our hosts were most exceptional and made sure our stay was as pleasant. We were greeted upon arrival and all aspects needed for us to know was quickly shared. Our stay was comfortable, perfect for a family visit and a few sleepovers with our granddaughter. We look forward to staying again when we come visit again.

Everything was just as described. Wonderful location and the property did not disappoint. The owner Michael is what truly stood out. He was so welcoming and explained everything very thoroughly. Highly recommend for trips to Universal Studios and surrounding area.

Perfect for us
Everything you could ask for. Summer cottage with a private pool, great location and attentive friendly hosts. We stay here almost every year for our annual visit with our daughter and son in law.

Michaels place was amazing! The yard and pool area were breathtaking. The house was clean and cute! Everything about our stay was amazing. Michael came over and introduced us to the place when we arrived and gave us some tips and tricks. He was easy to get in touch with and very willing to help. Would 100% stay here again. Everything was beautiful, and it felt private despite being attached to the hosts house.

The hosts were very nice and communicative. We appreciated the welcome beverages they left for us and the greeting written on the chalkboard by the front door. The space was small but good for a couple. We liked how it was nestled in the charming backyard of the main house. The location was good—close to main thoroughfares and the 101 freeway.

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage is delightful, and Michael was an incredible host. We will most definitely stay here again on our next visit to this area!

Great place plus great pool
Overall a very nice place to stay when in LA. Michael, the host, was very accommodating and helpful. If we are in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate staying at "The Contemporary Cottage" again.

Lovely Cottage Getaway
We had a wonderful time at this cottage. It was clean, in a good location for our needs and comfortable. The host was gracious and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

Home Away From Home
We just Love staying in this cottage once a year! It’s a perfect location in Sherman Oaks, close to so many restaurants, freeways, museums and shopping. Lovely Super Hosts!

We were both born and raised in Los Angeles, but we have been fortunate to have traveled all over the world, and we look forward to hosting travelers from near and far.
We met working at Universal Studios Tour may years ago, and we still live only a few minutes away from one of the most popular tourist attractions in Los Angeles.
Laura knows a lot about homes as a director for many shows on HGTV (Home and Garden Television) - She is currently working on the network's #1 show 'House Hunters' and travels all over the country on a regular basis.
Michael also used to work in Television production, and he is now devoting his time and attention to being an excellent vacation rental host.
Our favorite American city besides Los Angeles is Chicago, IL and our favorite vacation destination is Hawaii. Michael's heritage is Italian, and Italy is our very favorite country to visit!
And a song that that makes us happy is what else: 'HAPPY' by Pharell Williams! And that is how we want you to feel when you check in and check out of our 'Contemporary Cottage'!

This cozy cottage is tucked away in the back of a historic property built in 1936, and has some Hollywood history attached to it. The original owners were famous movie stars named Joan Blondell and Dick Powell. At the height of their career, they bought this Sherman Oaks ranch as a 'country home' that originally included horse stables and a chicken coup. This special home has had only four owners in over 70 years. The current owners are the Palazzolo Family who have happily lived here for more then 20 years.
