"I have to say, I dream of your condo daily…seriously! Our trip to San Diego just would not have been the same without our stay there. I even put the photo from the balcony on a photo Christmas ornament so that my sister and I could remember. " Julie K, guest from September 8, 2021.

If you want to enjoy the ocean and the amenities of San Diego, there’s no better place than On Top of Sunset Cliffs. Sitting right on top of the beginning of the cliffs, this 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo provides views and sounds of the waves from every room. If you get tired of being amazed by the pelicans flying by at eye level, counting the surfers riding the waves, or watching the superlative sunsets from your bedroom, balcony, or living room, there's always the oversized jetted tub to relieve your stress or watch one of the two HD televisions.

The stainless steel kitchen and open floor plan provides a wonderful ambiance for entertaining or simply for enjoying your time at home. All furnishings were purchased new in 2011.

It's close to all the attractions: Less than 3 miles to Sea World, 4 miles to the Trolly, 5 miles to Belmont Park, 8 miles to the San Diego Padre's ballpark and downtown San Diego, 9 miles to the San Diego Zoo and museums of Balboa Park, or 10 miles to the San Diego Charger's stadium.

Perfect spot in Sunset Cliffs!

Being right on the ocean to watch the surfers and see the sun set each evening before heading out to dinner was amazing! It's also a super convenient location to everything fun to do in San Diego.

THIS IS THE PLACE!

If you want to stay in Ocean Beach, this is the place to be. The views are even better than in the photos, and you can pretty much walk to anything you want to do in the area. The owner was extremely nice and easy to work with.

Ocean beach - Great getaway

The condo is in a very good location; it is clean and large, We were a family of four adults and plenty of space to move around and share moments together on the balcony watching the sunset. Local eatery is fantastic, I would suggest Nico's Mexican and Luigi Pizza; the people are friendly and I would not hesitate to return.

Sublime Sunset Cliffs Stay

A restorative week atop the Sunset Cliffs at this beautiful, comfortable condo.We didn't want to leave! Communication with Donn, our host, was easy,comprehensive and very helpful. The condo was spotless, well stocked and convenient to many wonderful restaurants, shopping and activities, notably the quirky farmer's market where we found delicious berries and fragrant flowers! We appreciated the security of a designated parking space in the garage, the ability to do our laundry in the basement using the laundry baskets provided by the host and the ease of access once we memorized the codes.My only suggestion is to provide a little stool for those of us who are vertically challenged. Saving the best for last, the most amazing feature of this lovely home is the balcony overlooking the cliffs and the ocean!! The design of the building affords you complete privacy when out there. It was mesmerizing to watch the waves crashing against the cliffs, the changing tides, the fearless surfers even on chilly days and the flocks of pelicans passing right in front of you! We hope to return soon...

Fabulous view

We loved our stay and spent many a happy hour on the balcony watching the sunset with pelican and surfer spotting added in. The property has everything you need and it was great listening to the waves crashing whilst going to sleep. We liked the location as it is convenient for getting around anywhere in San Diego whilst seeming a world away from city life.

On the ocean

The balcony over looking the shore of the pacific made for a grand location. The comfortable accommodations with many amenities added made this day even better. The host were very accommodating and concerned about our enjoyment and welfare. Highly recommend this place

Ocean on your doorstep

As our guest remarked, "This condo isn't so much on the ocean as IN it!". It must have among the finest water views in San Diego. Truly mesmerizing.

Wonderful Condo!

My husband and I had a great time at Barbara and Donn's condo overlooking Sunset Cliffs. The balcony and views are awesome. This was our second stay at their condo and we love the location. Close to everything and it's so convenient that they have parking in the condo's garage. Plus, did I mention they are super nice people providing us with a welcoming gift upon our arrival? Enjoy!

A Room with a View

What a beautiful unit. So private and the ocean views are spectacular. The pictures in VRBO are exactly as they are. Listening to the ocean waves crashing on the rocks was so soothing. I couldn’t get to sleep when I got home as I missed those sounds. The unit had everything anyone would need for a vacation get away. Definitely want to come back again.

Ocean View like no other!

What an experience to have the breathtaking view of the ocean. The sound of the ocean is like no other sound. Upgraded bathrooms and kitchen made my stay so very comfortable. Very private location on a dead end street. Can walk to get to all shopping, restaurants, etc. in Ocean Beach. Cannot wait to stay again.

Great place to stay

Very nice condo for up to four people. Fabulous location, very close to a lot of great restaurants and beaches. Easy trip to get into San Diego and all San Diego has to offer. We were there during the impending hurricane and they were enormously helpful and worked with their next guests to have an extra night there if we could not get a flight out sooner. They responded quickly and showed a lot of concern for our safety and comfort. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay. Ocean Beach is charming. We did rent a car and found having our own car very helpful.

The edge of the world

Peaceful, serene, very private and relaxing. A perfect getaway from the stress of every day life. Donn and Barb were responsive and knowledgeable in helping us maneuver through the unfortunate political and social climate. Wonderful experience

The magic of this condo is the beauty and sound of the breaking surf against the rocks 100 feet directly below. Listening to this and feeling the cool ocean breeze made sleeping uniquely a wonderful joy.! Everything within the condo was equal to any fine hotel. There is no beach below but to us that was a big advantage. We shall return.

Sunset heaven

We had everything we needed. The condo views were perfect. Loved sleeping with patio doors open all night. Kept them open all day while there. It was just perfect. Close to food, geoceries, area attractions. Contact with Donn and Barb was easy if needed. They were always able to answer quickly. Will have to see availability and plan another trip just to be here again. Vickie from Kentucky

Excellent Place to Stay

As the title says excellent place to stay. When we arrived the condo was very clean. Spacious. Great location. Beautiful views from the balcony. Exterior of the building is being worked on, but never bothered our stay. It was nice having a private parking space. Owners were very helpful when we had questions. Within walking distance to Newport ave. Easy access to major highways. We enjoyed coffee every morning on the balcony. Hearing the waves crash against the cliffs was one of the highlights of the trip. We will definitely be staying again.

Beautiful property with a fabulous view!

Close to Ocean Beach. Can walk into town. Great Beach scene. As cooks we would have liked more counter space but the kitchen has good amenities. We had some problem with appliances...refrigerator leak while we were there and I believe it was fixed after we left. The owners were very friendly and contentious. Great area to explore ...particularly Balboa Park. Free outdoor organ concerts on Sunday's. Recommend a Segway tour to orient you to the area. Great 3 week stay.

Location, Location, Location

We visit San Diego regularly, but this was our first stay in the Ocean Beach area of San Diego. It was a fabulous trip. The ocean is right outside the condo. Ocean Beach is just a short walk through somewhat eclectic, friendly neighborhoods. Many wonderful restaurants nearby. The airport and SeaWorld are very close by and it's easy access to Fashion Valley, which is a mall with something for everyone (Jimmy Choo for the high end shopper, Forever21 for the teenager, & a big Legostore for the boys). Having a dedicated parking spot in the building was really nice as well. We will be back.

Amazing time at Top of Sunset Cliffs!

Our family had a wonderful experience at Donn & Barb’s beach apartment. The apartment was SPARKLING clean and stocked with all the necessities needed for a week-long vacation; plenty of paper products, soap and general kitchen items (sugar, salt/pepper, etc.) The view was beyond our expectations. The balcony was very roomy and outfitted with 4 very comfortable and sturdy balcony chairs (I usually am not a fan of these style of chairs, but these were so easy to just hop on and comfortable enough to read a book for hours). Thanks for the extra attention to making the balcony inviting and comfortable. Excellent vacation rental… one of the best…in my opinion. Thanks Don & Barb- We will be back!

Beautiful Condo

My boyfriend and I stayed in the condo in November and absolutely loved it! The view from the balcony and bedroom was magnificent. Right on the cliffs with waves rolling into the rocks below. Surfers out every morning. It was truly breathtaking. The condo was clean and modern with all of the conveniences you would need. The garage below the condo for our rental car was perfect, with an elevator up to the condo. The owners were more than accommodating and left us wine and beer to enjoy upon our arrival. We will be back next year!

Could not have been better!

Donn and Barbara's condo was exactly what my family of four was looking for during our stay in San Diego. Great location, amazing ocean view, and all the amenities you could ask for! While the bedrooms and living areas were very nice, we did find ourselves spending much of our time on the balcony. In the morning we'd have coffee and tea first thing while watching the waves roll in, and in the evenings we ate our meals and had a drink while enjoying the amazing sunsets. This place is close to all the touristy stuff, but also in a unique and wonderful location (close to all the shops and restaurants of Ocean Beach). We also found a very nice small beach within 2 or 3 blocks that was much easier to access and enjoy than the larger more crowded beaches in the area. I definitely recommend this condo, and hope to visit again!

Beautiful Sunsets

The spot on Sunset Cliffs was exactly what was described, and most certainly a beautiful location. The sunsets were spectacular. The owners were very attentive, and welcoming, and wanted to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. The neighbourhood is quaint, and we felt very at ease there. We had a truck which meant we couldn't use the parking spot available, but generally found spots easily on the street (weekends were more of a challenge). With small and energetic children (3&5), we would have preferred a spot with more outdoor space for the times we spent at home, but were very grateful for the surfers we could watch from the deck, and abundance of cartoon channels. The owners did an absolutely fantastic job of providing information on the rental itself, as well as highlights in the area.

Sunsets, Smiles and Sounds

We spent a week at this absolutely gem of a condo. It is the perfect quiet platform to experience all of the best of San Diego -- location could not be any better!!! We ordered take out from both Phils BBQ and The Joint, put our 1 year old to bed the in pac n play and then enjoyed the PERFECT sunsets and drank the complimentary wine from Don and Barb for two nights. We saw seals, diving pelicans, surfers and swimmers from the terrace. We drove to Torrey Pines, Solana Beach, Balboa Park, and Coronado Beaches and walked to Sunset Cliffs/Point Loma. Don and Barb are delightful hosts and introduce the local grocery, cafes and interesting points very clearly. I hunted high and low online to find the best location for which to visit my sister and her family. I found it here! We were so so pleased with every aspect and would definitely recommend and visit again. The rain shower in the tub it to die for and the kitchen is crisp and new. Every night we listened to the ocean waves crashing. We felt lucky to stay in such a great place!!

Incredible stay - can't wait to go back

Our family (me, my husband and our 10 y/o daughter) had an incredible stay in this condo and can't wait to go back! The owners were very welcoming and hospitable and responsive to our questions both before and during the trip. The condo was very comfortable, clean, nice, spacious and very well-maintained. It had everything we could have ever needed - beach towels, beach chairs, binoculars (even beer and wine!). This is in a nice quiet neighborhood and we had easy access to everything we wanted to do - short drive to SeaWorld and the zoo and a very short drive or walk to Ocean Beach and Sunset Cliffs National Park. Lots of great restaurants in the area. We loved sitting on the patio listening to the waves and watching surfers in the water and pelicans flying by. Beautiful view from the master bedroom - so nice to go to sleep and wake up to the view and sounds of the ocean. Nice to have the walkway right next to the building that took us right down to the water. We appreciate the extensive information emailed to us ahead of time as well as the information that was provided in the condo. The description and photos accurately portray the condo. We had an amazing vacation in San Diego and the condo was a significant part of what made it so special.

We are both educators. We started our careers in Ohio, spent 10 years in Wyoming, and eventually moved to San Diego in 1990. Although we love to travel, once you visit here you'll see why we now live in San Diego. We now spend the winter months in the condo and the rest of the year traveling and living in Colorado.

Being teachers for over 30 years, we know how important it is to get away from 'normal life' and forget about work while relaxing in a new environment. We looked for a condo in San Diego for over 2 years before finding this gem. Ocean breezes, the sound of the waves, pelicans being so close that you can almost touch them, and the closeness to so many attractions make this a great place to live.

It takes about 1 minute to walk to the closest beach (just the time to walk down the stairs). A five minute walk south takes you to the Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, and a five minute walk north takes you to downtown Ocean Beach, one of the most famous and unique communities in San Diego. With its farmer's market / street fair every Wednesday, it's a great place to pick up flowers, locally grown food, snacks, and see live entertainment.
