This modern, self-contained house in Sidney provides a perfect base from which to explore Sidney and the Saanich Peninsula, Greater Victoria, and the rest of southern Vancouver Island. This accommodation is ideally suited to couples seeking a comfortable and convenient space of their own to enjoy while staying in Sidney. It will also easily meet the needs of a group of up to four adults or a small family. It is both a smoke-free and pet-free home.
The property is compliant under the principal residence requirement in the BC Short Term Rental Accommodation Act that came into effect on May 1, 2024. BC Short-Term Rental Registration #H414224657 Sidney Business Licence #00004290
Designed with easy access in mind, this cottage-style home features wide hallways and a convenient no-step entryway as well as off-street driveway parking. The open-concept main floor great room with its vaulted wooden ceiling, hardwood floors, large skylight, and tall garden-view windows, includes a living room, dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. The entire east-facing main living area lies at the rear of the house and receives full morning sun on clear days. A powder room and a laundry room on the main floor are also available for guest use.
The upper floor features two light-filled, carpeted bedrooms each with its own large closet. The main bedroom includes a new queen-sized bed and the second bedroom is furnished with two beds, one double and one twin. This floor also includes an office space for those requiring a separate place to use Internet or read as well as a large full bathroom with tub/shower combination.
Other amenities include a dishwasher, a full-sized solid-surface electric stove, large fridge and washer/dryer. Additional features are a gas fireplace, WiFi, cable television, a heat pump for comfortable heating and air conditioning, and both east and west-facing private outdoor patio areas.
In total, about 1200 square feet of the home will be available for guest use. A portion of the main floor will be closed off for storage of the owners’ personal belongings; although available for contact, the hosts will not be on site during guest stays.
This lovely home sits on a small fenced and landscaped lot in a quiet, treed, and level neighbourhood just one short block from a walk-on beach and bird sanctuary at Roberts Bay. From here, it's a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk to Sidney's downtown core. Also nearby are parks, trails, and bike paths, a number of marinas, the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea, and the BC Aviation Museum. Bus service is available just steps from the house and a 10 minute drive will take you to either the BC Ferry terminal or Victoria International Airport. Downtown Victoria is an easy 25-minute drive and both the world-famous Butchart Gardens and Butterfly World are only 20 minutes away.
Sidney is known as a Canadian retirement and vacation destination due in part to its seaside location and proximity to Gulf Islands National Park. Its many amenities include outdoor summer markets and concerts, street side cafes and restaurants, seaside walkways, art galleries, numerous grocery stores and specialty shops, pubs, theatres, a library, bookstores, recreation centre, and ocean water activities.
