A classic Hawaiian style home, this Haena Beach House, known as Hale Pulelehu'a (The Butterfly House), is a wonderful place for your family & friends to experience the island lifestyle on the North Shore of Kauai. Immaculately cared for, Island art & historic photographs help create a serene environment that ensures a memorable experience.
Hale Pulelehu'a (The Butterfly House) is lovingly cared for and provides easy access to all of the activities of Kauai's North Shore. A scenic ten minute drive past historic Hanalei town and only one mile from the end of the road at Ke'e Beach and the start of the breathtaking famed Napali Coast. Fifty steps from Hale Pulelehu'a is one of the most beautiful private sandy beaches on the North Shore. World famous Tunnel's Beach, which is one of the finest seasonal snorkel and surf locations is a spectacular 5-10 minute beach stroll away. Right down the road on the ocean you can dine at the Opakapaka Grill and Bar or visit the Napali Art Gallery and Coffee House with some of the best coffee on the island.
You will also be able to enjoy historic Hanalei Town, where you will find restaurants offering sushi, burgers, vegan dining, fresh fish, Pacific Rim, pizza, Brazilian, and tapas. Several restaurants have been featured in Food and Wine and Gourmet Magazine. Also, don't miss the Hawaiian Shave Ice and Hanalei's wonderful assortment of food trucks.
Hanalei has a variety of charming boutiques and services, including yoga and massage, as well as shops to rent kayaks, snorkel gear, or bikes. You can fish and kayak at the Hanalei pier and river. There is seasonal world class surfing as well.
Princeville is 15 minutes from the house and offers golf, zip-lining tours, horseback riding, jungle waterfall kayak trips, shopping, and more.

An incredible home near an incredible location! The access to the local beach is directly across the small street, and was a great place to set up some chairs and unwind and take a dip. Tunnels Beach is accessible by walking along that beach. Slowly strolling, it took us about 20 minutes. We even saw sea lions sunbathing, and some sea turtles swimming along the surf. Truly amazing. The house itself was spectacular and had everything we needed for a large group. The air conditioning was much appreciated! I could not recommend this home enough, and I already can’t wait to book it again for a future trip.

This was a perfect place for our friends trip. It’s across the street from a path to the beach, so it was super fun to walk down to the ocean and have coffee on the ocean. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed. I highly recommend!

Great location. could hear the ocean and it was a very short walk to the beach. loved the quiet secluded location and sitting on the lanai for breakfast was so peaceful. Great place. would stay again

This home was perfect for our family vacation. Tunnels beach is our favorite so it was nice to be able to walk there! And having the beach only a few steps away was incredible. The home was clean, beautiful, and had everything we needed. The pictures don’t do it justice.

We enjoyed our time here immensely. A beautiful, clean and well-equipped home in a terrific location. We were a family of 7, including a toddler, and found the place perfect for our needs. We greatly enjoyed the wild chickens in the backyard (and somewhat less so the rooster crowing in the morning). We loved walking to the beach and strolling further down towards Tunnels. We appreciated all of the snorkel gear, beach chairs and umbrellas that the owner supplied. We would love to come back and stay again!

A beautiful place to stay in one of the most beautiful locations on the planet. Our family of 6 was more than comfortable in the space. It was very clean and had anything you would need. We ran into some weather related concerns due to heavy rain and the property manager was more than accommodating. We hope to be back some day.

Haena Home was a perfect retreat for our family retreat. We are a family of 8 with age ranges of 4 years to 82 and a pre-teen in the mix.Haena House ticked all my “must have boxes”.The setting perfect with close proximity to the beach. Accommodation’s immaculate, warm welcoming decor, well stocked provisions, the local representative was excellent with replies.Our family enjoyed 90% of our meals at home and everynight was like a luau as we sat around dining table recounting our are adventures in Paradise.Donna

This house is absolutely wonderful! An amazing location with a short walking path right across the street that leads directly onto the beach. Beautiful and secluded area. The house has literally everything you need, from kitchen items to games to beach chairs and toys. It's more spacious than the photos, and we had plenty of room for our family trip. If you're thinking of staying here, I strongly suggest doing it!

A wonderful week
An absolutely perfect place! We enjoyed every bit of our vacation and the location of this home was a big part of that. Steps from a stunning beach and a short drive to some of Kauai's best sights. Easily the most well appointed rental home (kitchen, towels, beach supplies) we have stayed in.

Hale Pulelehu’a is incredible. The house was so clean and inviting. It was the perfect size for our multi-generational group. The kitchen was big enough to allow many people to work on meals and was stocked with every tool we needed. And the beach is not only just a few steps away, but is gorgeous and uncrowded. We were there in the summer and the swimming and snorkeling were perfect. All of us would love to return and highly recommend staying here.

wonderful!
right across the street from the beach! the neighbors and neighborhood is exactly what we wanted.....away from all the hustle & bustle. The north side of Kauai is wild hawaii! we loved it. the house also has snorkel gear if needed.

Don't hesitate to book here for your large group! We were so comfortable with all necessities and plenty of extras. Bill was very communicative, prompt and kind. An exemplary stay for our Father's 80th Birthday celebration!

Wonderful
The house is beautiful and kitchen and bathrooms large and functional. Just a minute walk to the beach and great patio for wet swim suits, towels. Has everything you need for the beach- towels, boogie boards, umbrella, chairs. Owner and property manager easy to contact, helpful. Would definitely stay here again! House is in an amazing location.

I have been returning to Kauai since first living here in 1975. Hale Pulelehu'a is located on the best beach on the entire island of Kauai. We designed Hale Pulelehu'a to appeal to our multi-generational family. The house is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the North Shore and is close to so many great activities. There are so many spectacular things to do within walking distance of the house that you may not even want to get in your car!
