Wooded "Saltbox Cabin", Our Lake Access: 6 min walk, Kayaks!

Hiking, biking, mountain biking, spelunking, offroading, horseback riding, boating , river kayaking, fishing, golf, restaurants:
30 minutes or less!

The Space
It gets quiet at night. Lounge out on the wrap around deck in the evening. Listen for our family of owls living in our trees or the distant great horned owl lording over the forest. Turn down the lights, let your eyes adjust, and gaze deep into space on a clear night. Wake up early, brew a pot of coffee and have a quiet breakfast before your day of exploration underground, above ground and on the water!

Located in the coveted Green Acres Neighborhood on a peninsula of Nolin! Your Saltbox Cabin is nestled on a hillside acre overlooking the wooded gravel road that leads down to the lake.

!!!!MAMMOTH CAVE VISITORS Summer 2025!!!!
Our normal scenic, 25 minute Kentucky country drive to Mammoth cave is going to be a bit longer longer than usual. The Flooding from early Spring damaged our Green River Ferry, and our shortcut to Mammoth cave remains closed. The drive to and fro will now be about fifty minutes, but it now takes you through many of the area's attractions that you would otherwise miss.
If you follow google maps to the closest bridge, for the first 36 minutes of the drive, you'll pass many postcard worthy rolling Kentucky farms, including horse farms, ancient country churches, the unmissable Nolin River Dam, and many little towns and unique general stores. Watch out for our Amish friends on the road in their horse drawn buggies. You'll make your way to the bridge at Brownsville, and cross into the National park for your final 14 minutes. Roll the windows down, and let the pine breeze fill your car.
On the way back, you might opt to head the other way around: Make your way through Cave City and Horse cave Kentucky. Horse Cave has it's own massive cave feature right in the center of town. You can gaze into the abyss right off main street! You'll also pass by Kentucky action Park (Ski lift, go carts, "alpine Slide" downhill), Dinosaur World, a smorgasbord of restaurants and countless other nearby attractions.

As fellow BNB enthusiasts, we’ve grown to cherish the distinctive experiences that only locally owned and operated getaways can offer. Inspired by our passion, we decided to create our own haven. Our cabin by the lake is a culmination of everything we adore, meticulously crafted to provide a clean and secure retreat after your land, water, or subterranean adventures exploring Mammoth Cave. It as also my pleasure to incorporate my passion for woodworking in our cabin. You'll find many unique pieces around our cabin mostly sourced from local Amish timbers and reclaimed barnwood.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

We love this neighborhood because of it's close proximity to both Mammoth Cave, the lake, restaurants, and the Wax marina,

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

You'll never find another stay like the Saltbox Cabin! As you enter, you'll catch the scent of our natural cedars lining the walls! The wrap around deck is half covered and half uncovered, so shade or sun is yours! Much of the furniture and bedframes were designed and built by me in my garage in Louisville. It's on a hilly, wooded property with plenty of space with a large firepit with local cedar seating.
