Outdoor enthusiasts have found their ultimate playground in Durango, Colorado! With 13 acres of towering ponderosa pines, mountain views, and spectacular views of Lake Nighthorse, Make the most out of every day by hiking, rafting, kayaking, zip-lining, downhill skiing, and relaxing in the hot springs which are said to have therapeutic properties. Feel at peace and one with nature as you listen to the birds and the wildlife, look out over the trees, and feel your cares melt away.

Upon entry to this ultra-private retreat, you'll be met with a completely renovated interior (in 2022). Enjoy the brand-new kitchen, bathrooms, and furnishings, all with a bright interior and a warm feeling of welcome throughout the space. Relax on the plush furniture as you carry on conversations with your loved ones, watch a movie on the TV, or witness a spectacular Rocky Mountain sunset on the balcony with your favorite drink in hand while Grilling your meal of choice. Hobby chefs will love preparing culinary charms in the sophisticated kitchen, generously equipped with a gas stove, quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, with ample room for personal effects. Get a spectacular night's rest in the main bedroom, which boasts a King-size bed, a TV for private viewing, a dedicated workspace with a chair and desk, and a lovely en suite bathroom with a double-sink vanity and a walk-in steam shower for the ultimate relaxation.

A good vacation week

The place has a fantastic view from the deck. All of the rooms and beds were big enough for adults. The kitchen was stocked well. I would stay again.

The house is gorgeous. The view is stunning. The road to get to the house is unpaved and very bumpy; thankful we had an SUV. There is one large (master) bedroom upstairs, with a bathroom. On the main level is a bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom. On the lower level there are 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed; you have to walk thru one to get to the other. Washer/dryer down there too. The water pressure for the showers was terrible, esp in the basement. The towels were old and thin. All the sheets were pilled so they felt scratchy. Other than that, everything was fine. The shampoo/conditioner/body wash provided smelled amazing. This was too far from town for us, which was my fault because I didn't realize that when I booked it. Once you get to the house, you don't want to leave because the roads are too rough.

The view was gorgeous. Dirt roads though. Accommodations are nice. Not fancy but nice. Cute decor. Make sure you want to go up and down stairs! This is a mountain home.

Just Perfect!!!!!

We loved the views at sunrise and sunset. The home was very nice and clean upon arrival. We enjoyed seeing the wildlife come to and from the house. Our kids loved the surroundings and it was perfect for us.

Enjoyed natures beauty and the quiet!

Our family of 6 adults, (all in our 70s) enjoyed our stay. There are stairs inside to 3 bedrooms with a bedroom on the main floor. Having a bathroom on each floor by bedrooms was a PLUS!! The kitchen had all we needed and well stocked. We all especially enjoyed the decks with the amazing views.

Lovely mountain home!

We very much enjoyed our stay here with 4 adults, 4 kids. The kids enjoyed playing outside for hours on end! Building snowmen, sledding, building snow forts, etc. Updated kitchen. Had a lovely time!

The house was spotless when we arrived. The beds were all comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. Plenty of kitchen utensils and dishes with which to cook and the bathrooms were clean and so nice. The only 4 star I gave was because I wish there could’ve been a little more seating in the living area. Great house, great location and helpful staff!

Durango Mountain stay

We thoroughly enjoyed the stay at this Durango Mountain retreat. The drive is what you'd expect on unpaved mountain road, so don't be discouraged. When you finally pull up to the house and go inside you will be delighted. It is just a short distance into town and to the narrow gauge railroad. Sitting on the deck overlooking the valley is wonderful in the mornings and evenings. I love listening to the turkeys on the next ridge gobbling. The mule deer are common. The interior is modern and magnificent. There is nothing about this stay we did not love. Thank you.

Breathtaking!!

I rent a lot of nice properties and this one was no exception!!! The house is clean, new and lovely!! Had basic supplies, laundry soap, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. There were trash bags in the trash cans, plus basic seasonings possibly left by others, as well as coffee filters and coffee. The deck views are breathtaking, nice area to hike in the woods and are close to town with great restaurants and shops. Id come again:)

It is a cute house, the sight is beautiful. The things we recommend they could improve are: *Cleaning. (We saw dust and spiderwebs). *Internet was slow. *Get big trash cans (we tried to look for them and we ending up leaving the trash bags inside of a shed next to the house). *Bottom Bathroom didn't have trash can. Once we arrived we took pictures 📸 of things that look damaged and sent them to the manager to avoid and extra charges to us. Other than that is a cute house and yes definitely you will need 4x4 cars on winter time.

Great stay in Durango!

We stayed in Durango at Mountain Retreat for a get together of long time friends and our families traveling from several different states. The house is spacious and nicely decorated and the view is absolutely amazing. It’s only about 25 minutes to downtown. When we arrived one of the twin beds did not have linens and it took several phone calls over 24 hours to get the linens delivered to us which was inconvenient. However the property manager also brought us extra fans because it was quite warm so we really appreciated that. The only other issue we had is that the railing for upstairs poses a safety issue- the railing posts are placed extremely wide apart and I’m sure can’t be up to code. I wasn’t comfortable with my toddler going upstairs because he could have easily fallen through so we had to reshuffle the sleeping arrangements. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay and would consider returning!

Great view but with issues

The property location and view is fantastic. The upgrades to the upstairs area is mostly good with two major issues. Very private with fantastic views and very private property and great grounds. The house was well equipped and very clean. However, I had several issues. 1. The internet did not work at all the entire 5 nights. And the tvs are all internet only so no internet meant no tv channels. 2. The trash outside was full on arrival and was never picked up any of the 5 days there. 3. The description says central AC. This is not accurate. The house only has a split unit AC for the living / open kitchen area. No AC for any rooms including the master where it can get very hot. 4. Major issue with the main floor bathroom where the glass in the shower just fell out when the bottom wall connector failed. This could have seriously injuries someone as the glass is very heavy. 5. The down stairs which includes two of the bedrooms as not been redone and the bathroom for that area is very small Otherwise nice house. Great deck and well equipped.

Be aware......

We have stayed at numerous vrbos and this ranked among the worst. There were 10 of us in the group and we were told this home would work for a group our size. They do not have 3 twin beds as stated, and only 2 full baths, and the other bath is 3/4. They did not have any trash bags, 1 dishwasher pod, 6 towels, no extra linens, no extra toilet paper or paper towels, no remote for the tv and the trash 'shed' had not been emptied in weeks. The 'shed' was filled with bags of trash and the stench was awful. The fridge froze our produce. We also closed one of the bedroom doors, only to find out it was a keyed door and it locked. We called Vacasa and they simply said sorry, we can't do anything until 9:00 the next morning. We were locked out of 2 bedrooms that had our belongings. We were able to get in through a window after an hour of trying to see if Vacasa would help. Lastly and most important, the fire alarm started beeping, so we opened it up. The batteries were dated 2020. This is a major safety concern. We have since contacted Vacasa and the local property manager has not returned any communication.

This was a great stay.

Beautiful home and location. Ours was a fall vaca. The road might be a challenge in the snow unless maintained quickly. The house was great, the forest beautiful, the view very nice.

Mountain View retreat

I recommend this beautiful home! Great Mountain View with really nice sunsets. When We got there everything was organized and had what we needed! In the cleanliness I would give it a 3/5 the house wasn’t dirty, but because how visible the dust was and bathrooms needed a little bit of more cleaning.
