Located on a very peaceful, wooded lot-- Wake up and maybe see a deer in the woods behind the house and the sound of the birds singing. On a windy day, you can hear the waves from Lake Michigan!

A charming and relaxing home in Lakeside, MI, only ten minutes to the shops/dining/entertainment of New Buffalo!

A short 7 minute walk to the quiet/private Association beach of Lake Michigan. Only for owners and guests.

Plenty of trails for hiking, bird watching and biking within minutes from the property. This area is gorgeous in spring, summer, fall, and winter!

Location from Chicago is only 1 hour and 30 minutes from downtown - an ideal weekend escape to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

The home is irresistibly charming and comfortable. All linens and towels are provided, as well as all cooking utensils for great at-home meals and barbecues! We provide charcoal, firewood for the fire pit, coffee and filters!

Free Wi-FI, Satellite TV, VCR/DVD, washer/dryer.

The home also has a large private yard (fenced in at the front of the yard, the remaining yard is surrounded by woods and landscaping) perfect for children & pets. The neighborhood is very child safe and pet friendly. The house has games, books, puzzles, and satellite TV.

Don't leave your dog at home! We DO Allow DOGS, but no cats.(Pets are considered on an individual basis). So, if you are averse or allergic to animals, this is NOT the home for you.

ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE.

We do not rent to anyone under 25.

PLEASE NOTE -- most all of the homes in the area have access the Association beach via the 55 stairs, down to the beach area.

Perfect Relaxing Stay

My husband, dog, and I had the pleasure of staying at blue bird cottage and it was wonderful! We loved having the whole house to ourselves. The close walk to the beach, the scenery, the peacefulness of the cottage and its location were all perfect! The owner was very kind and so accommodating. We loved the fire pit at night and relaxing on the hammock. The town, cottage, and beach are all very dog friendly and was perfect for our pup. Can’t say enough great things about this home. We hope to be able to stay again!

Great beach getaway with the fur baby

My husband and I have been taking our golden retriever to union pier for the past four years and this cottage and location did not disappoint! It was a short 5-7 min walk to the private beach and our pup had such a great time. I was also very impressed with the cleanliness and accuracy of the listing. Definitely recommend and looking forward to booking again! Toni

Perfect house to stay in to take your dog to the beach!

We had a great time! The house was really nice and clean and not too far of a walk to the private beach! This time of year was perfect also. Not crowded and the weather was perfect. We will hopefully make this a yearly trip with our doggie❤️

Blue Bird Cottage is fabulous for families and dogs!

The home is roomy and comfortable. The owner provides everything you need, including beach gear, towels, and cookware. They even have towels for the dog to use. The owner has a nice booklet which provides and overview of the beach access, other amenities, and guidance for dog owners. The beach is a short walk away and was never crowded during our week long stay. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful.

Beautiful house, close walk to the beach. Grilled and had a small fire for smores. Follow the directions she gives you for the house, our phones were way off.

The cottage was very clean!! All necessary items were easy to access. Good communication with owner prior to our arrival and during our stay. Overall an excellent rental, very comfortable and a great location to beach and Harbor Country sites/restaurants. Definitely would rent again.

Great place

We very much enjoyed our day. Great location and very clean place! No issues what so ever. Had everything we needed to enjoy a beach day and grill out. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay again.

Delightful

This property is perfect. Especially if you have a dog companion. A wonderful yard. The accommodations are cozy. The host provides all the right touches. Well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels and blankets. Feels like home. A 5 min walk to the beach. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic Place

wonderful getaway

We were so happy to get back to Harbor Country after many years, and the Blue Bird Cottage was perfect for us and our pup! The charming home was even better than its description and it's obvious that the host puts so much thought and care into it. We hope to stay here again!

Home away from home

What an exceptional getaway! All the amenities made for a superb stay. We are not beach goers so having everything there for our use was absolutely perfect. The accommodations in the house were all we needed as well. Our dogs enjoyed the morning and evening walks around the neighborhood, the peaceful nature and seeing all the dear. We made life long memories and got some beautiful sunset pictures of us on the beach! Thank you for opening your home up for our stay. Ps apologizes for not getting the trash emptied.

Beach weekend

This is the second time my husband and our dogs have stayed in this wonderful house for a long weekend. Love the location, tucked away among the trees and a super quick and relaxing walk to the association’s private beach on Lake Michigan. Thank you to our host for the lovely welcome gifts. Perfect spot!

💜Loved this sweet little cottage!💜

Precious little cottage. It had everything we needed and it was so clean. Loved the extra details. The owner left us a bag of local chocolate covered pretzels and some local handmade soap. So thoughtful. Never had any one else do this when I’ve rented from them. Cottage is in a great location and Close to the beach! ☀️

Great weekend getaway!

We had a lovely time at The Bluebird cabin! It was the perfect getaway for our family from the city. Lovely gravel path leading to the beach, the house was clean and inviting, outdoor area was great for us to enjoy bbqing, making s’mores, hanging with our dog and kids! The treats we received made the stay extra special. I personally love all the hooks making it easy to hang our towels and belongings. We will definitely be back!

We have owned a home on this lane for 37 years and love the peaceful nature of the area. We take pride on keeping the integrity of the area as natural as possible while enjoying the amenities of a cottage. And in the summer, we spend our time between being on the beach and in our yard! In the cooler months, we take walks in the many nature walks around the area.

We love the location of this house because it backs up to a wooded area that will never be built upon. A little stream runs way back there and the animal and bird viewing can be exciting. And the proximity to the beautiful Lake Michigan beach is an extra added bonus!

Peaceful surroundings, occassionally seeing deer in the lot across the way, bird watching, being the only one walking on the beach.......It's beautiful! Close to New Buffalo, Sawyer and Three Oaks Michigan. Just sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air!
