Foresta is located within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park. Now known as an “inholding”, Foresta (Big Meadow) started as a pioneering area. Two ranches (McCauley and Meyers) provided beef, pork, dairy and vegetables to the Yosemite Valley hotels. In the twenties, it was sub-divided and given the name of Foresta. Created as an “artistic” community, musical gatherings were held by the creek. After the Great Depression, many lots were sold for back taxes. Approximately 75 homes were in use, either full time or seasonally, before the 1993 A-Rock fire destroyed most of them. More than half of the homes have now been rebuilt. Fire has been a defining force in this area, showcasing Mother Nature's endless cycles.

Great location in the quiet forest close to Yosemite Valley. The home had all the necessities for an easy stay. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was very nice. We very much enjoyed our time here.

Had a great stay at Shady Grove. It’s in a most ideal location very central and close to routes to explore the park. 20min to Yosemite valley. 1- hr to Glacier point. 1- hour to Mariposa Grove. 1hr 20 min to Tioga pass. Definitely plan on finding your way to the cabin in the day light. Follow the host’s instructions and stay on the paved road and you will easily find it. Plan on bringing enough groceries and supplies for your stay. the markets in the park are limited and expensive. The small kitchenette was functional for light cooking purposes. Coffee maker and microwave all worked well. It was a perfect experience for my first solo trip to Yosemite. All the conveniences of staying in the valley but no crowds and very quiet. 10 outta 10 would stay again!

It was the perfect size for the 2 of us. The bed is very soft but did provide enough support. Having internet was necessary are there were many places in the park without cell service. I could plan the day and download maps before heading out. The only issue we ran into was that we couldn't find local channels on the Dish service so we had to watch replays of a couple of World Cup games. I was able to record those replays on the system so we could watch at our leisure the next day.

We had an excellent stay in this little cabin. The location was perfect for exploring Yosemite and not having to exit/re-enter the park. Would definitely stay again!

It was a wonderful, clean cabin inside Yosemite. Bit of info - download offline maps Apple Maps prior to getting inside the park. It’s not easy to navigate without maps. Off line maps make trip very easy. It is a bit of a climb and I would definitely get there during daylight. You really need to either print off or download the cabin directions. The host encourages this a she is correct. Our neighbors came in late and didn’t have the instructions for the cabin nor the hosts phone #. Luckily we had just gotten back and helped. Great spot, definitely do your grocery shopping prior to entering the park, we did it in Mariposa. The food, in the park, not great and very expensive. Great and responsive host and would recommend

Everything was great! Easy to locate, clean, and comfortable. Only 20 mins to Yosemite valley. Def highly recommend this spot.

Amazing location!
My sister and I stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Yosemite. The cabin was small but had everything we needed. Location was really amazing - we were in heart of Yosemite Valley in 30 minutes. Bonus - Foresta Falls hike right outside our door!

Amazing little cabin, perfect for 2 people, or 2 people and a baby/small child! There were so many little details and things that were paid attention to, little touches that we appreciated and did not expect. So the cabin is basically a studio 1-bedroom, which we were aware of, but still we were not expecting all these little ancillary things to be paid attention to. Examples: A.) There's a Weber 2 burner propane BBQ outside the cabin. I confirmed this ahead of time because we were bringing tri-tip, hot dogs & hamburgers to cook on the grill, but then we forgot to bring tongs or something to clean the bbq with. No worries....there weas a clean set of tongs, and a bbq grill scraper in the cabin., B.) I had confirmed ahead of time that we could cook on the 2-burner electric grill inside the cabin in case there were any issues with the bbq. Because of that possibility, we packed a full set of of cast iron pans in case we needed to cook on the stovetop in the cabin. No need.....they already had a full set of pans and cookware in the cabinets. C.) They had a "Mr. Coffee" coffee machine. We bought pre-ground coffee beans because we forgot to bring a coffee bean grinder, and also bought paper filters at Ralphs. No need, they had a coffee bean grinder, paper filters available, and creamer in the fridge! Overall my wife and I were thoroughly impressed with the Shady Grove Cabin.....yes it's small, but it's the perfect space to make home for a couple days for 2 or 3 people,

Thank you for your 5 star review! We try to provide everything needed so you don’t have to (except for the food!). Save time and stay away from the crowded restaurants. This little cabin has easy access to Yosemite Valley and other points of interest.

Awesome stay!
We loved the location of this property. Had a wonderful visit to Yosemite. Cabin was clean and well appointed. Definitely recommend this as a go to place to stay while visiting Yosemite.
