Two bedroom, two bathroom (both small) plus nursery or reading room. The classic 1950's updated cottage is situated on a beautiful private sandy beach. Swimming, hiking, kayaking, or just relaxing in your Adirondack chair or chaise under a covered pergola. Dark Sky Park is one of the best places in the world for viewing stars. Historic village, and lighthouses nearby. Biking and hiking trails take you through the woods or into Mackinaw City. Outdoor and indoor showers, updated kitchen, and dining tables by the stone fireplace. Cozy bedrooms and lakeside breezes. Four miles to town for movies or shopping. Small grocery store in town larger one 5 miles and across bridge into St. Ignace.

This lil knotty pine cottage is magic!

It truly is magic! The view of Trail’s End Bay from the cottage and the beach right outside keeps us coming back. The sunrises and sunsets are glorious and the cottage is cozy. The night sky is full of stars. And Susan, the owner of the property, is a delight to work with. We love hiking at Headlands and Wilderness State Park. Can’t wait to return!

Awesome week on Lake Michigan!

Gary & Sue are gracious host!! They’re very nice, very friendly, answered questions about hiking trails. Cottage is as good as advertised! The master bedroom, lay in the bed hear the waves. The dog loved it as well, he laid on the bed just stared out at the lake. The outdoor porch is beautiful, you can just sit and relax, watch the beautiful sunsets. If you’re bringing your dog lots of trails at Headland sky park & Wilderness State park plus a nice one behind the cottage. Or just walk up & down the beach! If you’re looking for ESPN or live sporting events, ABC, NBC, CBS couldn’t get it. Lots of streaming services. But you’re on vacation, who needs to watch a lot of TV, right?

Beautiful setting, gorgeous sunsets, peaceful, natural environment

The cottage was just as charming as we had imagined -- away from the crowds, yet close to everything: dining, shopping, ferry to Mackinaw Island, parks (Dark Sky), and airport at Pellston! It was clean, cute and had everything we needed for a wonderful week's stay. Sue & Gary were perfect hosts. The list of places Sue suggested we visit did not disappoint! We hated to leave!!

Mackinaw

We had a fabulous stay. The host of the property has a plethora of information to share with her guests. Which makes it l easy to tour and see things in and around Mackinaw. The house is a great location on Michigan Lake with sunsets that are absolutely stunning. We would definitely recommend this cottage to our family and friends. Thank you, Susan and Gary for helping to make our stay so memorable.

Another wonderful stay!

This was our second stay. We enjoyed it so much we booked another stay in 2024 as soon as we got home. The cottage is cozy and warm and the view of the Straits from the cottage is stunning. Sue and Gary are wonderful hosts. Can’t wait to go back!

35 anniversary

Charming little updated cabin with a fantastic view. This was a color tour and it was prime. We went on day trips on the iffy days and read books and played cribbage and studied my chess and took beach walks. Watched swans, plovers and pipers. Saw Taylor Swift at the movie theatre and ate a lot of good food. Saw an awe inspiring rainbow in the mist over a brilliant turquoise sunlit bay!

Peaceful and relaxing stay.

Wonderful communication with owner. Everything as advertised. Great location to beach with a short easy walk to it. Beach was beautiful and relaxing. Kayaks and bikes for you to use. Cutest cottage with beautiful porch! We had us, our two grown children, and our little Westin dog and had plenty of room. Very dog friendly and thoughtful of your pet. Certainly recommend!

Peaceful retreat

Gary and Sue are wonderful hosts offering a lovely cottage. It had everything we needed including comfortable beds and sharp knives! For those of us who like to cook, sharp knives were a bonus! The area is peaceful and the beach is perfect. There are great places to take walks, ride bikes and to just relax and read. It’s a great place for all ages and we look forward to our next visit! Thank you Gary and Sue!

Knotty pine cottage on the lake

Our stay was amazing..the location is everything! Sue and Gary are so kind and full of knowledge on local places as well as travels to Mackinac Island. The cottage was equipped with all the necessities and outside of an unusual bathroom set up..it was perfect.

Nice and Quiet

The cottage was very clean with everything we needed. The private beach was clean with lots of room for little kids to play. This was the perfect spot for a family with small children. The mosquitos were rough in the front of the house outside, but the beach area was big free. We will likely be back.

Great beach!

Loved our few days on the beach! Gary and Sue were so helpful and the house was comfortable and cozy. It was a perfect time to read, walk the almost deserted beach, and enjoy the calling loons.

Cottage retreat

A very positive experience. Property was just as it was listed, comfortable and quiet. Awesome beach view and trails across the road gave plenty of opportunity for hikes. Just what the doctor ordered.

Michigan get away!

Cottage as advertised, beautiful peaceful setting, lovely cottgae, friendly hosts, love the area (Mackinaw City, Lake Michigan), wonderful place to stay and love the area. Hosts provide fire pit on Lake Michigan shore (and wood for the fire pit!), kayaks and bikes! Waking up to the Lake Michigan breeze and coffee on the deck was great!

Perfect family rental!

We had a wonderful week at Sue and Gary’s cottage! It felt more like staying at a friend’s house than a rental. Our kids (3 and 5) had the best time playing on the beach with all of the sand toys, lawn games, kayaks and more. We also biked the paved trail into town, which was a blast! So nice they provide 2 adult bikes to use. We have stayed all over Michigan on many different beaches and this is by far our favorite! Sandy and crystal clear with unusually warm water for Lake Michigan. Our dog also had a great time, walking the beach with us and making friends with all the local dogs. The area was so quiet and peaceful, but only a 5 minute drive into Mackinaw with tons to do. The cottage is so cute and made us feel right at home. The master bed was very comfortable and lots of pillows, fans, etc. We loved getting to know Sue and Gary, their family and dogs. This is truly a special place and we feel very blessed to have spent the week there!

Beautiful water views/sunsets!

Beautiful water views and sunsets!! Older family cottage/some updates. Bathroom situation very small… split with toilet/sink in one and tiny toilet/ small shower on other side. Does have outdoor shower. Most comfortable for 2 adults and maybe 2 small kids. Chairs/couch not too comfortable for bad backs. Kitchen very well stocked. Very quiet, peaceful setting. Enjoyed our stay.

This cottage was built by the owner’s parents. We have built a new cottage next door and will be on-site for additional assistance. This is a very quiet, sandy, and private beach. It is part of the Trails End Bay Property Association. Owners are outdoor folks that can direct or lead you on hikes (trails across the street) or kayak trips. It is close to town and the dark sky park.

Beautiful natural surroundings, with amazing sandy beach and numerous outdoor and other activities. See Mackinac Island on a day trip and come back knowing you have a much nicer beach and place to lay your head. Great restaurants. Dark Sky Park around the corner.
