Rippling River Cabin: Nature's Paradise On The Shenandoah River

This beautiful cabin is calling all nature lovers. Sitting on the bank of the Shenandoah River, you will enjoy hearing the sound of the majestic water roll by throughout the day and evening as you partake in various outdoor activities or simply relax and take in the scenery from the large back deck of the cabin. The cabin is nicely appointed with updates to the kitchen and both bathrooms. Two rooms have queen beds and one bedroom has two full size beds. The large, open family room with river rock stone fireplace (gas) makes for a warm and enjoyable entertainment setting. There is an outdoor pit by the river for cozy "campfires" -- and an outdoor gas grill for cooking.

The cabin has been well equipped with all the household necessities -- you just need to remember to pack your own bedroom linens and towels to use because linens are NOT provided. (2 Queen and 2 Full). There is a washer/dryer at the cabin.

The town of Luray is less than five miles from the cabin. Luray offers shopping, dining, and entertainment options for the entire family. Luray Caverns is one of the largest and most popular attractions in the Eastern United States -- and, of course, it is hard to beat the Shenandoah Skyline Drive in the Fall. There are a number of local outdoor companies that provide kayak, canoeing, tubing, horseback riding, and many other options. Two ski resorts are within one hour of the cabin.

The cabin really is a little oasis away from the hustle-and-bustle of modern life. We hope you might consider visiting us -- and we guarantee you will find something you will enjoy!

**During Winter months, if winter weather occurs including any snow or ice it makes the roads slick and 1 hill in particular is tough to navigate up without 4-wheel or AWD**

Quick getaway

Holiday Stay

Wonderful stay over the holidays. Quiet, peaceful property....you can fall asleep listening to the fliw of the river. Cabin was great.

Beautiful Riverfront property

We stayed two nights and could have stayed forever! Perfect setting and accommodations for my wife and I and our 4 grandkids ages 6-11. Everyone had a great time inside with the games and puzzles and outside with the large backyard on the beautiful South Fork of the Shenandoah River. The fire pit was perfect for an early evening around the fire and making S’Mores. Luray Caverns was spectacular and only 15 minutes away. Our wildlife viewing consisted of only one rabbit but we found over 200 black bears decorating the interior of the cabin! Great experience for all of us.

Beary Perfect Getaway

The owners have thought of everything. Games, relaxing places to sit on the deck and even under it! A big porch swing, hammock and a couple of tables and comfy rockers. The sound of the river was music. The stars were awe-inspiring. Will definitely come back. The only reason for the 4 stars for description is that the Propane grill was rusted through and we were not able to use it. However, there was a charcoal grill as well, and it saved the day. We still had an amazing supper. Love this cabin so much! eating dinner. it. in come back

Spacious cabin

Loved the spaciousness of the cabin. Had a great time with family. There were a few things that were a little miss leading. First, the pictures made the yard look like it went straight to the bank of the river. However, there are two small banks to go down. Not a problem just wanted to point this out. Second, the road to get to the cabin is a 1 1/2 mile dirt road. Again, not a problem. The cabin was complete with all we needed. There were things like bug spray, charcoal, baggies among lots of other things in case you forgot your own. The large deck was very nice to hang out on. The cabin is private. Would definitely would recommend. The one thing we seen and could do without was a very large black snake at the step going up. HA

Peaceful and relaxing

The cabin was really nice and well appointed. The yard was mowed and very nice. The table and chairs and swing under the house was nice to have, but the real hit was the hammock. Ultimate relaxation 😊😊

This was a beautiful cabin with wonderful scenery. Lots of privacy and activities. We had plenty to do even when it rained. Over all it was a wonderful family trip.

Generally nice place on the river...

Pros: location; communication; menus for local restaurants (great!) Cons: outdated photos; outdated cookware; misleading/incomplete description Detail: My dad and I overall were satisfied with the cabin. It's quiet and the riverfront is beautiful. The fee is market rate for locations in this area with a riverfront/access. The cabin was clean and everything we used worked, more or less. That said, there are issues. I have referenced a couple of prior reviews where necessary. -As others have observed, it's not clear in the description that you will be asked to clean the cabin prior to departure. The owners, in other reviews, have underscored that it's an "ask". Yet it's posted three or four times on the refrigerator and in their welcome booklet. It comes across much more as an expectation than an ask. -Photos are outdated/misleading. The horseshoe pit in photos looks clean and fresh. In reality, the wood is in disrepair and there are weeds growing in the sand (ref: Stephen B's Apr. 18, 2021 review regarding horseshoe pits). The hammock pictured on the deck creates an idyllic picture of rest and relaxation. Reality=the hammock is situated under the house. No way my 72-yr-old dad and I are hoisting that upstairs. -Field mouse had nested in the gas grill...last inspected when? -I don't think the cookware has been updated in years (ref: Cathy M's Jul. 23, 2019 review regarding cookware). -Sink disposal doesn't work, despite note to just "keep flipping the switch". Value ≠ cost

Relaxing stay

Our family of 5 loved our stay! Our teenage boys fished every day, we relaxed on the porch and hammock, the dog was in heaven with the big yard to play in. Location was great, far enough away but still only 15 mins to town, the Walmart was pretty handy. We spend a couple days exploring Shenandoah Nat. Park, did some beautiful hikes and enjoyed the scenery on the drive. Having the Thornton Gap entrance close was great. We cooked most of our meals at the house, and everything I needed was there. The host responded quickly with any question or need. We would love to visit again!

Fantastic River Getaway

Another Great Visit

This is our third visit to the property and we love it each time! Grilling, hiking, playing, and of course the Rippling River are all enjoyed at this convenient location to Luray and Thornton Gap Entrance. Thanks for the memories!

Birthday weekend with the family

This place was absolutely perfect and the host was wonderful. We loved the location right by the river but still close to town. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable and the deck was perfect for relaxing. The host recommended a great place for dinner and was quick to communicate. This place (and host) was a 10 out of 10 for us!

Nice Getaway

Lovely property, the river was ideal with the sound of the water 24/7. Our dog loved being able to be off leash and play fetch in the large yard. It was still a little chilly when we visited, so the gas fireplace was wonderful, however the sofas provided were extremely uncomfortable. We ended up actually leaving a day early due to lost power from the high winds and smoke from local fires in the mountains. Overall it was a nice getaway and would recommend, especially if you visit when the weather allows you to spend most of your time outdoors enjoying the cornhole, horse shoes, grilling, and canoeing.

Perfect location and a beautiful cabin on the river

We came for a long weekend to get away and went fishing in the river had a fire. The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and we hit the Luray caverns and also went horseback riding. It was a perfect weekend.
