Nestled in the heart of the historic Shenandoah Valley, Deer Haven is a hidden gem that offers more than just unparalleled views of the valley on twenty secluded acres backing up to the National Forest. This short-term rental is your gateway to a whole world of adventure and relaxation!

Deer Haven's prime location is the perfect hub for those who want to explore the region's natural and historical wonders. Just 100 miles from Washington, DC, and a short drive to Shenandoah National Park, Bryce and Massanutten Ski resorts, and the spectacular Luray Caverns, you'll find yourself spoiled for choice. Experience a slice of history with a visit to the numerous Civil War battlefields or enjoy some leisurely wine-tasting at the nearby wineries and breweries. Hiking and water sports enthusiasts can hit the trails and the Shenandoah River, while antique shop and art gallery enthusiasts can discover hidden treasures in the charming towns along Route 11, including Edinburg and Woodstock.

Deer Haven's warm and welcoming interior is designed for your utmost comfort and convenience. The house features a fully-stocked, eat-in kitchen, three baths, and large decks with a grill, fire pit, and hot tub for relaxing. The living area boasts a fireplace, comfortable seating, and plenty of games to play and books to snuggle up with. Two bedrooms are on the second floor, including a principal bedroom with a wall of windows overlooking the Shenandoah Valley. The private third-bedroom suite is on the ground floor with its own bathroom, sitting room, bunk beds, and screened-in porch with great views.

**NOTE FOR WINTER GUESTS:
Deer Haven's recent paving of the most difficult part of the driveway has made it easier to reach the cabin. However, as the area does occasionally get snow, we require a four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle during winter months. Rest assured, we'll work with you to ensure your safety and comfort during inclement weather. In the unlikely event that the road is impassable, we'll honor a partial or full refund depending on the circumstances.

We really enjoyed our stay at Deerhaven. The hosts John and Matt responded right away with any of our concerns or questions and the place was well stocked with towels and supplies we felt right at home. The views were amazing we saw a couple of deer and wild turkeys, squirrels and a turtle come up the mountain in the yard. The bed was very comfy plenty of blankets and pillows. We definitely recommend a stay at Deerhaven we give it 5 Stars. John and Denise

The highlight of this house is the beautiful view of the mountains and the gorgeous sunsets. John sent so much information about the house and the surrounding area ahead of check-in, which was very helpful. His directions to the house were perfect, and we found it without a problem, but we were glad we had a four-wheel-drive vehicle to navigate up the mountain. The water did have a strong sulphur smell, which we were informed about before check-in, so we brought plenty of drinking water with us. We enjoyed the local wineries, breweries and restaurants, well.

So glad you enjoyed your time and found the welcome packet helpful. Yes, though the well water is treated through an ultraviolet system and is fine to drink, it can sometimes have a sulphur smell. If you are sensitive to this, probably best to bring some drinking water.

Our stay at Deer Haven was great. We appreciated the heads up on the driving directions, the gps pretty much got us there but it was nice knowing it might be a little confusing.

When I booked this home, it was originally for a total of 3. Then 4 others decided to join us due to the beautiful location and the activities we planned on doing ( dual sport/OHV trail riding). This house was roomy enough for all of us ( we cleared it with the home owner first) and very close to the trails. Lots of towels, very nice appliances, comfy beds, extremely private.

Everything was wonderful! The views were spectacular. There were just 2 of us, but another couple and small family would have plenty of room. I would recommend thisnto anyone.

Outstanding Property in Every Possible Way!My husband and I were lucky enough to celebrate our minimoon at Deer Haven and it was exceptional in every way! The pictures don't even do the place justice. The house was spacious, spotless clean, and both decks were incredible. The front deck offered those breathtaking mountain views while the really big deck with the hot tub and the chaise longues offered more amazing views as well as romantic star-gazing experiences from the hot tub and the rest of the spacious deck. The master bedroom is so much bigger than the photos show it to be, and the morning view of the mountains and the greenery is to die for. The house is so well furnished and elegantly decorated. You can tell that John and Matt selected NOTHING BUT high quality furniture, decoration, wall art, lamps, coasters, etc... It feels a bit like Europe inside Deer Haven :) Communicating with John was a delight and he truly made our minimoon relaxing, enjoyable and memorable! Thanks a million John and Matt for sharing such a precious home with us!

The kitchen was perfect to have dinners with everyone! We BBQd, used the stove and oven. Had plenty of cooking utensils. The view was spectacular at any temperature and any time of day or night. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, inside and in the hot tub. When it got too warm, the air conditioning was awesome. Everything worked as described!

Absolutely the most gorgeous views and a beyond peaceful and secluded location! The hot tub under the stars at night and making smores around the firepit was the highlight of the trip. The only recommendation we could offer to other guests - if you are at all picky about water - bring bottled water with you. Otherwise, this was an amazing cabin!

Wonderful stay! Great views, inviting hot tub, wonderful fireplace. Great set up for our annual, family Christmas gathering. Plenty of room and very clean. Easy check in and check out. Close to a grocery and historical sites. Definitely would stay here again.

We had a wonderful time! The house was clean and comfortable. The beds were so comfortable, we actually inquired on where to get one. The front deck with the rocking chairs was amazing! The view was awesome. We enjoyed coffee in the morning and wine in the afternoon on the deck listening to the birds. If we had any questions, John responded quickly. We hope to come back here in the future.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we didnt want to come home. If we didnt have work and the kids didnt have school we would have probably tried to stay an extra few more days. The view was definitely beautiful. We definitely want to come back on warmer days to enjoy the outdoors.

Very enjoyable secluded mountain retreat with spectacular views, quiet privacy, comfy beds, plenty of space including porches and a fire pit and indoor fireplace. Nice hot tub to relax in at end of the day. Kitchen well equipped to cook in. Peaceful and cozy with excellent amenities.Be sure you have good traction or 4 wheel drive to ascend the final gravel/dirt road, particularly if there is snow or ice present.And make a left after you go over the small bridge (main road).

Wonderful Getaway!We had an amazing time here at Deer Haven! This beautiful place was everything we hoped for and more. It was secluded, which was what we wanted, and had amazing views. We were there with another couple and spent evenings watching the colorful sunsets and getting in some night sky viewing without all the nearby light pollution from the city. We saw several satellites passing over, constellations, the Milky Way and some meteors. Both the front and side decks are solidly built and very sturdy with plenty of seating.The communication with John was very prompt, friendly and provided a detailed packet of information about the property as well as listing things to do locally, such as restaurants nearby, wineries and breweries in the area, shops and attractions. We took separate vehicles to get there & both had trucks in 2WD which did well on the one lane road going up to the house. The outside of the property is very well maintained & attractive. The inside is very open and airy feeling. It's very clean and well maintained. Everything you need is there. The kitchen is well equipped. The spacious living room had such an amazing view of the valley with the floor to ceiling windows. The other couple we were with took the upstairs master bedroom which had a great view and there was a 2nd bedroom and bath there. There is also a full bath off the living room. My hubby has Parkinsons so we took the basement comfy queen bed with beautiful bath. I love this place!
