Black Hills Bliss

The drive to the property was entrancing. Upon arrival we were greeted by Pam who gave us a tour and shared all of the vital information for the property, she also left us with baked goods! It felt like we were greeted by family and offered a home away from home for our stay. The deck was by far our favorite part of our stay. Laying in the hammock, the sound of the rushing water, and the view of the daily wildlife visits from the hammock were fantastic. This location was near equal distance from Keystone and Deadwood and we visited both. The location was easy to find and we would highly recommend staying at The Creek Front Cabin.

Amazing Vacation!

The cabin was spotless, tastefully decorated, and centrally located to many attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed the breathtaking hiking trails at Custer State Park, as well as the Chuckwagon Cookout & Hayride. Badlands National Park, Spearfish Canyon, and Mt Rushmore are all an hour or so away. The hosts were friendly and communicative. They gave us great tips about local hiking trails and restaurants. The cabin setting is even more beautiful than the pictures can convey! Highly recommended!

Best VRBO host and property ever!

We’ve stayed at vacation rentals around the world and even had our own rental property…this host wins our award for BEST EVER. She didn’t miss a single little detail. We arrived to her warm welcome, homemade blueberry muffins, water and a quick tour of the home. The home was stocked with everything that we needed for our visit. Stop at the house prior to going to the grocery store because the home had more essential items than you would normally find at a vacation rental home. The place was so amazing that we decided to give up a day of site seeing to enjoy the beautiful view from the porch that overlooks a rock wall (that is lit up at night) and stream. The kitchen was stocked well and there was a gas grill on the back porch so we ate at the cabin all but one meal. We enjoyed numerous daily wildlife visits from Turkey, deer and more. South Dakota exceeded our expectations in every way. Be sure to visit Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands. We stayed 4 nights and wish we had booked a 7 + night stay.

Great Cabin

Location was great, as we had short driving distances to see Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devils Tower, Deadwood, Mammoth Dig Site and Custer State Park. Very quiet location, Host was great, and we tried a little fishing in the creek. Saw lots of wildlife around the cabin - deer, turkey, owl, kingfisher, chipmunks and squirrels.

Exactly What We Hoped

The cabin is close to dining, stores and activities in Rapid City, as well as being centered between all of the amazingly beautiful scenic sites of the Black Hills. This property is private and secluded and has a serenity that will make you wish you could stay longer.

Cabin with a view

This cabin was MORE than we expected. The accommodations are the best. We felt very welcomed & were so pleased that we decided to add another night's stay to our trip. Best Vrbo experience!

100% recommend! Washer/dryer, well stocked kitchen so we could cook full meals, and a deck view that is unbeatable. Very clean. Pam is so nice and provides all the extras to make the stay easy and like being in a home away from home.

Absolutely Perfect!

My husband said it best…if all the other cabins for visitors to stay in the Black Hills along Rapid Creek are pearls, the Creek Front Cabin is a diamond! My goodness, what a wonderful place to stay! Pam is the ideal host, area info provider & designer of this peaceful & beautiful oasis to vacation in. The inside is a warm, inviting area with EVERYTHING you may need. While the huge deck is where you will spend most of your time listening to the relaxing creek meander by & also looking at all the different shapes & colors of the magnificent rock outcropping just on the other side of the creek. And short naps in the hammock are a must. Great place for couples or families. We will be back next Summer!

A slice of heaven!

The cabin was everything described and more, you have to see it in person since there really is no way to describe it. The deck with the creek was everything. Pam was easy to communicate with and she makes the BEST rhubarb coffee cake. Hoping one day we'll be able to return.

This cabin is everything the description says it is and more! A beautiful setting on a creek with a cabin stocked with everything you could possibly need. This place has one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on. Beyond clean! I highly recommend this place.

Best Place Ever

Loved everything about the cabin on the creek, the view from the deck, the babbling brook, the beautiful rock formations, and the feeling of peace and serenity. The well appointed kitchen, the attention to detail, the blueberry muffins and flowers on the table when we arrived made our visit memorable.

This cabin is tucked away in a perfect spot close to state parks, monuments and quaint small towns. The deck view is with the sound of the running stream is peaceful and relaxing. The cabin itself is clean and quaint with every necessary detail thought of. We loved it!

Exceptional!

This is the best VRBO rental in the Black Hills! Do not hesitate to book your vacation. Perfect location between all the “go to” attractions! Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devils Tower, Bad Lands, etc. What a beautiful and relaxing place to come home to after an incredible day exploring all that the Black Hills has to offer! (Don’t miss the Buffalo Roundup if you’re lucky enough to be here for it. Incredible!) Relax on the back porch and listen to the sound of the creek rushing over the rocks while being mesmerized by the beauty of the rock cliff wall that never gets boring to look at. Can’t say enough about the serenity and beauty this place has to offer. Even better than the pictures! Pam is a wonderful host and readily accessible for any questions and has wonderful suggestions. Couples Getaway

This cabin was absolutely incredible. The view from the deck is breathtaking, and the water rushing through the creek is relaxing. Pam, our host, met us upon arrival to provide a walk through of the property with sweet treats and the best flavored water after our long drive. She thought of everything we could possibly need and checked on us as well. The location is perfect for all activities in the area. This property is perfection....clean, comfortable, just like a home away from home. If you're looking for the best getaway for two couples, look no further!

Paradise on the Creek

Wow! Do not pass up this listing. My husband and I recently stayed here for our visit to SD; we could not have picked a better place! While there were only 2 of us, it could easily accommodate a party of 4. It is such a warm, cozy, inviting cabin. We did venture out on our first day there, but we decided to remain at the cabin for the rest of our stay. Once there, you'll understand why. We just did not want to leave that porch! It's amazing. Cozy seating, beautiful scenery with the creek running through, and the sound of the creek is so relaxing. Inside the cabin, you will find anything and everything you need. Pam has thought of everything to make this a perfect stay for her guests. Clear instructions for everything, the cabin is pristine, and of course suggestions for all of the local hot spots. And did I mention the rhubarb bars that were waiting for us upon arrival? Delicious!!! Thank you Tom and Pam for a wonderful stay. We hope to return some day!

Beautiful property!

The perfect setting to relax after enjoying a day of exploring the Black Hills. Every member of our family enjoyed this stay, from the sound of the creek, relaxing with a book on the hammock or multiple games of bean bags. Pam has thought of so many thoughtful details and was very welcoming while showing us around the property, which was fabulous. We would definitely stay here again!

My husband, Tom and I are transplants to South Dakota and the Black Hills. He is originally from Virginia, and I am from Texas. We couldn't be happier that we ended up in one of the best kept secrets in America. We have four children and 8 grandchildren and we enjoy hiking and skiing and exploring the Black Hills. We just finished hiking all of the 121 miles of the South Dakota Centennial Trail that weaves its way through some of the most scenic spots in the Black Hills.

The Creek Front Cabin was originally built by my grandparents in the early 1960's, and I have been fortunate enough to take care of it for the past 40 years.

I love this place. The rugged beauty of the canyon, the sound of the rippling creek, the private setting, and the deck make it a tranquil setting that is truly one of a kind.

I can't think of anything better than curling up with a good book on the hammock underneath the huge covered 40' long deck. Listening to the calming effects of the creek is the best R & R a person could ever dream of ...
Yes, there is fishing right from the backyard and a whole variety of wildlife and birds have been seen over the years. To date, we've seen over 33 different birds, plus mink, raccoons, turkey and deer to name a few.

The location of the cabin in the Hisega area adds so much history and charm. This neighborhood dates back to 1908 and it was named after the first letters of six women who visited here then: Helen, Ida, Sade, Ethel, Grace and Ada.

These women were part of a camping party, and later cabins were built, along with the Hisega Lodge. It was a true vacation resort for folks coming from the prairies of eastern South Dakota by train. The full story of how Hisega transformed over the years is in the cabin for you to discover.

Many, many people have told me that the setting is the "nicest spot in all the Black Hills". I couldn't agree more. This isn't just a "place to stay" - it is a place to experience ...
