This lodge is a large two story Black Hills Vacation Home situated on the back side of beautiful Lake Park Campground and Cottages. Like its name, Deer Glen Lodge has spacious surroundings where the wildlife come and go on a regular basis. You can watch the deer meander by while your family enjoy barbequing on your own gas grills.
The property connects to Canyon Lake where you can enjoy fishing, take a paddle boat to explore the lake, or start a bike ride on the 8 mile paved trail passing 2 Golf Courses - it is truly wonderful place to make memories. The lodge offers something for everyone, from a cozy reading nook to the large grassy lawn for outdoor games.
Like all of our cottages it is smoke free and pet free.

This house/cabin perfect for family gatherings. Very clean, very good communication from the host and most important, very flexible. We weren’t sure exactly how many people would show up, but the host was not concerned. Overall a great and quiet location. Highly recommend.

Great location, easy to get to area attractions. Deck was large and set up great for outside dining. Distance between neighbors was a plus, with large cottonwood trees and wildlife. Enjoyed the character of the home. Is outstanding for family gathering

Very family friendly area! Super quiet area!! Host was great with communication! Very clean house with comfortable beds!! 3 full bathrooms to accommodate a large group. Great patio/deck with two very nice grills! Located within walking distance to trails and the lake for fishing. We saw wildlife in the yard everyday. So relaxing! We will definitely be back!!

We had 6 adults and 6 kids (teens and littles) for a family reunion. This exceeded our expectations and housed us all with room to spare! Everything we needed was supplied plus extras. The kids loved the creek and spent every evening floating and playing. Very family oriented but quiet and peaceful for adults. We loved sitting on the deck watching all the deer! Service was excellent and friendly. Very centrally located for all the excursions. We highly recommend - and so do the kids - they want to return next year!

Great place for family!

We loved the space for family time- the extra beds, and bathrooms were wonderful! The desk was so fun to hang out on and we loved the decor!

Perfect place for families!

Deer Losge was perfect for seven family members ranging in age from 71 to 9 years! The grounds are beautiful, the wrap around porch was a perfect hang out spot in the evenings. The lodge was clean and had everything we needed.

Wonderful place for a family vacation

The Deer Glen Lodge was a wonderful accommodation for our group of 11 with plenty of room for each family to be comfortable and have privacy as needed. We especially enjoyed the outdoor deck with the 5 (or 6) picnic tables. It was conveniently located to access nearby shopping and attractions yet private enough to feel like we were 'away from it all'.

Our families loved this house. I was staying at Chapel in the Hills and led a retreat with families. The close proximity and well maintained property was perfect.

Great place to stay

Very quiet, good location. Fun to watch deer. Plenty of room, nice and clean. We were on the go all day long, would have liked to stay and enjoy the lake and park.

A Magical Stay

What a delightful location! The house is old and charming. Well maintaned and a fun maze of hallways, rooms, bathrooms, etc. The outdoor space is fantastic for grilling and picnics and there's lots of side walks for all the chalk creations. Our only complaint, and it's our user error: There is not a nice beach or lake access for swimming nearby. But just perfect for our family vacation. Highly recommend.

Family get together!

All of our family except for one meet there for the weekend. Rapid City is about half way for everyone so we planned for a fun weekend. We all enjoyed our stay at the house. The deck was great in the evenings for barbecues and watching the deer. The guy that checked us in was just great and helpful. The kids enjoyed the playground and the paddle boat. We will be meeting there again.

Perfect spot for Black Hills & Mt Rushmore!

Family gathered from several states to visit the South Dakota National Parks/Mt Rushmore/Crazy Horse. This location was fantastic - the house was clean and well laid out for family & kids. There is a playground just across the driveway and the lake is nearby. It was also a great home base for day trips out to the nearby parks (Black Hills, Mt Rushmore, Custard State Park, Crazy Horse), which we toured during the day. The check in process was smooth. The home was quiet and in good repair. It was a great spot!

South Dakota Getaway

We were a family of thirteen( including five kiddos (Under the age of 6) and this home met all our needs. Located at the end of the road, the property has spacious back yard and the home is designed with a separate suite upstairs with fully equipped kitchen sitting area and spacious bedroom and bathroom Downstairs offers theee bedrooms, two which are quite spacious. Living room accommodated us very well. This cabin is very close to the lake and there are areas to fish, which our family really enjoyed. There iare wildlife sightings of deer frequently and we even saw a blue heron! Also storks and an eagle too. My only suggestions include updating the kitchen pots and pans, as a few were in need of replacement and to add additional silverware and steak knives. Also, the stairway going to the upstairs are open on one side and not safe for little ones to navigate. Offering a baby gate along with adding some type of wall/railing would solve this problem. We were able to block entry to steps with furniture/pillows but kids still managed to sneak through at times. In summary, I would return to this place in a heartbeat and will be recommending to others who are contemplating a trip to this beautiful state! Thank you for making our trip such a wonderful one!

We have lived within 200 yards of Deer Glen Lodge since 1992. We loved the location then and we continue to love it now. We raised both our children here and one continues to work in the family business, Lake Park Campground and Cottages.
