Excellent little getaway! My husband and his friends loved it so much and hope to come back every year now :) Mary and Ted were great hosts! Highly recommend this beautiful property!

A wonderful cottage on the lake, slept our group of 7 perfectly, very comfortable beds. All linens supplied, all needed supplies provided, attractively decorated. The additional exterior porch, which isn’t in the pictures, faces the lake and has a table for four with umbrella, plus a loveseat and chair as bonus for watching sunsets. A row boat for fishing was also provided, which is a plus. Would definitely stay again!!

Enjoyable week on the lake

Everything you need (minus a microwave and needing to take all bedding, towels, pillows). Beautiful lakefront, kind/friendly neighbors. Overall good stay and great communication.

Property was just as billed. Sat - Sat only rental option was inconvenient but set in first email contact. No cleaning requirement or options were detailed before booking was set, that was a surprise. Check in and out times changed with every communication, although only 30 minutes. TV was password locked so that you could only watch through apps that were already downloaded, we had some bad weather. The house and location are great though.

Lovely, updated cottage right on the lake.

The living room and dining room furniture appear new as of 2020. It looks like the whole cottage has been refurbished very recently. There is a dishwasher, induction stove/oven, a refrigerator, and toaster, but no microwave. Outside there is a deck with a picnic table, two Adirondack chairs, a fire ring, and a charcoal grill. There is a dock right at back yard level, so no stairs, and a fenced-in yard. The water is shallow with a sandy bottom so is very nice for swimming and floating around. Wampler's Lake has channels to two other lakes, so if you bring a boat, there are places to explore. The water does get pretty choppy from all the power boats and jet skis, but was not a problem for swimming, and the lake is calm in the mornings and evenings. The cottage is very close to the busy road, but we didn't notice any road noise from indoors. Possibly due to the newer windows. There is central heat and air, but the air handler was a little noisy. Closing the master bedroom door at night helped with the noise and the room still stayed cool. The bedrooms upstairs were roomy with plenty of head height for most people. The beds were all comfortable. There are dressers in each of the bedrooms. The owner supplied a reciprocating fan in each of the upstairs bedrooms, plus two additional fans for use as needed. The upstairs bedrooms were warm enough to need the fans but were comfortable with them. There is a large tv with ROKU/HULU/Prime, so plenty to watch for free, and more if you're willing to pay per view. The shower works well with plenty of hot water, although the water has a sulphur smell. We've found this often at lake cottages so it wasn't a big surprise. The water is softened. There is a good grocery store about 10-15 minutes away in Brooklyn, with a Dollar Tree, Big Boy, hardware store, and sporting goods store. Owner supplied paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, salt, pepper, dish soap, dishwasher detergent and other cleaning supplies. The owners were very nice, but they do expect the renter to completely clean the cottage before the 9:30 a.m. checkout time. We always leave properties clean, with kitchen floors swept and counters wiped down, but this is the first rental we stayed in where we were expected to clean the shower, toilets, sinks, refrigerator and stove, and sweep, vacuum and dust. It wasn't a big problem, but you should know that going in. Over all, we had a really pleasant week at this cottage and recommend it to anyone.

Overall, we had a good stay. The house was very clean and decorated in a cute, welcoming style. The hosts were friendly and pleasant to work with when we spoke.The main issue during our stay was that the water developed a strong sulfur/rotten egg smell. We contacted the host through the VRBO app first thing in the morning, but after several hours without a response, I called. She then responded that the water should not smell that way, and her husband came over to investigate. Unfortunately, the smell wasn't present while he was there. He adjusted the water softener and kindly offered that we could check out early for a refund if we preferred.Since this was our annual girls' weekend and we were already settled in, we decided to stay. We bought bottled water for drinking and brushing our teeth because we weren't comfortable using the tap water, and we were also hesitant to shower. Later that evening and again the next day, the sulfur smell returned.The upstairs was also quite warm, as the air conditioning didn't seem to cool that level very well.The hosts were kind and did make an effort to address the issue once we were able to reach them. If the water issue is resolved and the upstairs cooling is improved, this would be a very enjoyable place to stay.

Excellent property

Great property, very spacious and clean. This was a great spot to spend some time with family on the water and have fires ride next to the lake at night.
