This inviting mountain retreat is located only 14.5 miles southwest of the center of downtown Lexington, VA and offers some of the most spectacular views of Rockbridge County. Nestled on the side of North Mountain, guests will enjoy incredible scenery in a quiet and relaxing setting that will nourish the soul and let your cares drift away. Visiting family for a funeral

We enjoyed the serenity and location. We felt like we were on an adventure as we climbed the mountain to our destination. Very peaceful. Very clean and all we needed to have a quiet, relaxing place to stay.

Clean, spacious, cared for space

This place is absolutely fabulous! The owners have taken care to create a really beautiful, high quality space, lots of space indoors for privacy, 2 bathrooms, huge high quality kitchen, lovely living space, plenty of dining space, and an outdoor sitting area. There's also a fully stocked firepit with chairs, wood, and kindling. Every little thing has been considered- you could move in tomorrow and have everything you need. It was extremely clean, comfortable, and welcoming. It's a significant drive to get most places, but we didn't mind because we wanted to be in the mountains/ woods. If you're looking for a unique trail close by, the trail to Pete's Cave was AMAZING with Rhododendrens and Mountain Laurel in full bloom, gorgeous scenic views, and we found almost no one along the way! We are so thankful to have found this place and would 10/10 recommend it! Thank you so much Ed & Daphne! It was a beautiful stay!

Everything about our stay was absolutely wonderful. The rental is very spacious, nicely decorated and incredibly well stocked. The views are also incredible. The hosts, Ed and Daphne are delightful and great to talk to. They include many extras and personalized touches that make this the best rental we've ever stayed at. Long weekend stay

Thanks Ed for sharing your home with us. We had a slight challenge at check-in as there was a mix-up about date for our arrival. But after this was clarified, our stay was excellent. The home was very clean and well maintained. We loved the view and walking on the long gravel driveway. We would recommend this property!

Amazing in every possible way

There are not enough words to describe how much we loved this trip. The place was beautifully appointed and incredibly comfortable. The kitchen had everything! Walking out and seeing the mountains and the valley was so breathtaking and peaceful. As amazing as all of that way the kindness of Ed & Daphne were the chef’s kiss of perfection. They shared eggs with us and their company (at our request). You really don’t need to leave to hike they have plenty of acreage to wander around and get lost (but not really). If you want an amazing trip stay here and get lost!

Immaculate Secluded wonderful

If you want to get away from civilization, this place is it! Fantastic views, well organized, super clean and neat place very friendly. Shared some items from their garden and eggs from their hens. Even though they were there upstairs from us, he didn’t hear a peep. We plan to return in the fall

A Little Piece of Heaven!

I’m so glad we found this VRBO! We needed a place that could house 5-6 people for several days that wouldn’t break the bank, and we found the perfect place. The hosts were wonderful and we wanted for literally nothing while we were there. The space was perfect for our needs, and the peace & quite of the location balanced the craziness of the weeklong graduation festivities. 10 out of 10. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Beautiful and big getaway in the VA mountains

The property was even better than the pictures and description! It was very spacious, clean, very well-stocked, and picturesque. The kitchen was large, and we even had fresh eggs and a bottle of wine waiting for from our hosts. The bedrooms and bathrooms were great. It was wonderful to drink coffee and tea outside on the porch with the woods and mountains in front of us. We would recommend this property highly and will definitely book again when we return.

Great time!

Everything was perfect. Ed was right on site and gave us lots of good tips and ideas. The leaves were just starting to turn colors. So beautiful!! Was about 20 ride to the Seclusion wedding venue. Next time we will stay longer!!

Exceeded Expectations

Our stay at Ed and Daphne’s place exceeded our expectations. The place is beautiful and well appointed. The mountain views, the fire pit, the gourmet kitchen, the comfortable bed, and most of all, the friendly hosts made this a perfect stay. I highly recommend.

An absolute gem!

We had a wonderful weekend, from start to finish. Ed was very communicative and made the check in process extremely easy. We were greeted by a welcome gift of a bottle of local wine and a dozen eggs that were laid that morning by Ed and Daphne’s chickens. The house was perfect for two couples, with the bedrooms at opposite ends of the apartment. The large kitchen was fully stocked and the open layout of the kitchen, living room, and dining room made socializing easy. The views were outstanding, both from the numerous windows throughout the house as well as from the patio furniture. We especially enjoyed the beautiful morning, watching and listening to dozens of birds enjoying the bird feeders and bird houses. Our only regret is that we had a very busy weekend and were not able to enjoy the house and property for as long as we would have liked. We definitely plan to return and enjoy an entire weekend on site!

Outstanding hospitality

Simply outstanding experience. Gorgeous setting…quiet…a total retreat. Hosts thought of everything you could need or want to feel welcomed. Outdoor spaces just perfect and well supplied. Highly recommend for families looking to relax and enjoy each other and the beauty of VA.

Perfect Home Away from Home

Every part of our stay was perfect. Thankful for the full kitchen to prepare meals and the farm fresh eggs and wine provided by our host and hostess. Home provided all the amenities and more! Definitely will plan another stay.

Stunning

I happened on Kerrs Creek because of a wedding at The Seclusion both places are outside of Lexington Va. The house we stayed in was immaculate. Everything looked new. The view is better than The Seclusion and the owners Ed and his Daphne are outstanding.We didn’t get to spend a lot time at kerrs Creek because of the wedding and so on.

Spectacular Panoramic Views

This property is was off the beaten path. The hosts Ed and Daphne are delightful. Be sure to have a 4 wheel vehicle as the driveway is gravel and over a mile climb. Everything you could possibly need is provided and that includes their freshly laid eggs! The apartment is wonderful, clean and comfortable. The fire pit is the best part in the evening as you watch the sunset next to a warm fire! We hope to return!

Superb property and host!

My family thoroughly enjoyed the property. It was comfortable, clean and the views were magnificent. Meeting the host (Ed) was a pleasure and I enjoyed our lengthy discussion about the history of the property. I will definitely return if our travels find us back in the Lexington area again. Anfitrión: Edward Hosken

Ed was born in Michigan and attended St. Louis University and Wayne State University Law School. He joined the Navy and after Vietnam and San Diego, California he was assigned to Canberra, Australia where he met Daphne. After 3 children and 24 years in the Navy, he found work in Washington, DC. Their older son attended VMI and as retirement approached, Lexington was their choice.
