Downtown Suite! (Farmer's Suite)

Located in Downtown Friday Harbor! 2 Bedroom Full Bath and Kitchenette. 2 Queen Beds. Walking Distance to the Ferry.

The Farmer is one of 5 separate Suites to rent among the Acanthus House. The Farmer is a roomy 2 bedroom suite on the ground floor of the Acanthus building. This suite has a Queen bed in each bedroom, a full bath, gathering area and kitchenette. Many like to enjoy their morning coffee or afternoon beverage from the comfort of the communal front porch. A Smart TV and internet are available for guests to log-in to their preferred streaming services.

Guests will find that one block from Acanthus Suites will bring you into the heart of downtown Friday Harbor, offering many delicious restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, ice-cream shops and art galleries, all within walking distance. On Saturday mornings the local San Juan Island Farmer's Market is a 5 minute walk from the Acanthus Suites!

Any or all Acanthus Suites can be rented for different group sizes!

The Acanthus House is one of Friday Harbor's first important historic homes. Built in 1913, it was a wedding gift for a wealthy merchant's daughter. It has been beautifully restored. Located in historic downtown Friday Harbor; only 3 blocks from the ferry dock and Port of Friday Harbor and is an excellent option for those coming to explore the island and have a comfortable place to rest at night.

The Acanthus House does not have Air Conditioning.
The unit does not have laundry facilities.

Location of the property is excellent -- very close to Spring Street and easy to get around town. Check-in and Check-out were very efficient, and host response was prompt. The unit could use a bit more ventilation as it is an old building and most windows were not able to be opened. Also could be improved with a toaster and perhaps some coffee for atleast the first morning there.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The check in instructions were very easy. The apartment was clean and well maintained. There was plenty of parking. It was easily walkable to shops, restaurants and the ferry. We had a car because we wanted to explore the island. Be sure to make ferry reservations for the car. They release 30 percent 2 months ahead, another 2weeks ahead than 2 days ahead. My only complaint would be if you want to relax and watch TV there really isn’t comfortable seating. If your busy and not there a lot it shouldn’t matter.

Hosts were very accommodating; we received extra blankets when requested and provided a place to store luggage for a couple hours. Our bedrooms were comfortable. My only criticism would be the sitting/living room area. The chairs are not comfortable.

We had a car, but you dont need one and can walk from the ferry terminal very easily. The flat was very clean, with very comfortable beds and a great shower. My only nit is that it could have had some supplies like coffee. Machine and filters were there but no coffee. But really a great place to stay in a great town.

Wonderful spot in Friday Harbor

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, based on both the house and its excellent location and walking access to so much of Friday Harbor. The space has historic interest, and is also well-organized, clean and with all the amenities. We would definitely stay again.

Overall impression is what I expected. Large older home with a couple other rentals within. We had a wonderful time during our stay. The rental was a modest unit with dated furnishings and attributes.

The location is unbeatable! Everything is within walking distance. The bedrooms and bath are comfortable as well as clean. We would definitely stay here again. If you’re working remotely, the WiFi does not consistently support Zoom calls. However, the TMOBILE cell signal was excellent so using a phone as a hotspot works great.

So close to everything!

I loves this 2 bedroom suite. It was cozy, had a little kitchen space (sink, fridge, microwave) and dining/sitting area. It was located right behind the San Juan Brewery and is only a 5 minute walk to the ferry dock.

Mom and daughter trip

Great location, very short walk to the harbor and restaurants. We enjoyed the 2 nice sized bedrooms, sitting room, little kitchenette w coffee pot and microwave and bathroom with all the needed amenities. No noise from other guests in other suites, completely seamless online check-in and check out were also a bonus! Would definitely stay here again! Plenty of parking for our rental car which we definitely would recommend to drive to all the gorgeous parks and beaches on the island.
