Spacious Studio Downtown! (Explorer's Suite)

Spacious Studio Downtown. Explorer's Suite (in a 5-unit building). Unit Sleeps 3 people.

The Explorer is one of 5 separate Suites to rent among the Acanthus House. The Explorer is located on the ground floor and equipped with a Queen size bed (an air mattress is also provided in the room) and kitchenette (no oven). This Suite offers a 3/4 bathroom with walk-in tiled shower. It is fully furnished with chairs, new small appliances and an electric fireplace. Wi-fi and a Smart TV is supplied for guests to log-in to their preferred streaming services.

Guests will find that one block from Acanthus Suites will bring you into the heart of downtown Friday Harbor, offering many delicious restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, ice-cream shops and art galleries, all within walking distance. On Saturday mornings the local San Juan Island Farmer's Market is a 5-minute walk from the Acanthus Suites!

Any or all Acanthus Suites can be rented for different group sizes!

The Acanthus House is one of Friday Harbor's first important historic homes. Built in 1913, it was a wedding gift for a wealthy merchant’s daughter. It has been beautifully restored. Located in historic downtown Friday Harbor; only 3 blocks from the ferry dock and Port of Friday Harbor and is an excellent option for those coming to explore the island and have a comfortable place to rest at night.

The internet / Wi-fi at this house should be sufficient for streaming video, phone calls, remote work and video conferencing.

Perfect Spot!

I couldn’t be more happy with my stay. This place was quiet and quaint and an easy walk to everything in Friday Harbor, from coffee to the local brewery to whale watching tours.

Very cozy, charming, close to town. Just perfect for the 2 of us. Could have used a small hotplate, but got along fine with just the microwave.

Lovley spot in town

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed the suite very much, and appreciated its atmosphere. Very convenient so close to the heart Friday Harbor. And we absolutely loved the charm of the suite.The only inconvenient aspect is the combination kitchen/bathroom sink which is awkward - even if we understand that the remodel of an older house led to the final design.

Friday Harbor on Argyle Street

It was such a charming place to stay. We loved that it was built so long ago with the beautiful wood furnishing. We especislly loved the picture of the kids and enjoyed thinking about what life was like for them back then. We loved our stay!

Great place. Great location. Super easy to walk to everything in Friday Harbor. Super easy to drive to everywhere on the island. Could’ve been a bit better stocked. Coffee mugs to go with the coffee maker?!? Also, smelled like mothballs when we arrived. So, some candles or incense could’ve helped. But, first world problems. We aired it out and it was fine. Would stay here again.

Friday Harbor Stay in Explorer Suite

The place was perfectly located for ease in walking downtown where food, beverages and shopping awaits! The manager was easy to chat with, as needed. I think the Pandemic cleaning is overstated.

Winter vacation

This location is nice and convenient. Walking distance to everything in Friday Harbor, and a quick drive to anywhere we needed to go. Will stay here again.

Perfect accommodation, perfect location.

The perfect base if you are looking to discover all the beauty Friday Harbor has to offer. An easy walk into the heart of town and only stone's throw to the local brewery. Would definitely stay again!

Luxury and Location

This quiet, spacious and lovely furnished craftsman suite is within walking distance of downtown. Refrigerator, microwave and sink may it possible to have light breakfast and coffee in bed. A super getaway.

Great weekend getaway!

This was the perfect spot to stay if you’re looking for a spacious, charming, clean studio. The host was helpful and communicative. The only thing missing for us was a kitchen, but we knew this ahead of time and planned accordingly. Truly a great experience!

What a gorgeous house!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First of all, this house must have been stunning before it was "cut up" into rentals. That being said, the remodel work is amazing with lots of care being taken to keep the feel of this home. Secondly, the place was immaculately clean. Also, the mattress was just right! Easy to find in the dark coming off the ferry; a short walk into town. A wonderful jumping off place for SJI, but also for the other islands if you want to check them out. One note: the kitchenette doesn't have a stove/burner, just a microwave, so if you plan on cooking The Explorer might not be for you.

Great location and charming home

Perfect location if you’re on foot. It’s within walking distance from all the shops and restaurants and the ferry dock in Friday Harbor. Charming old home. Could use a sofa for relaxing after a long day of walking (Explorers Suite). The bed was comfortable but in an awkward spot. Would stay again.

Great location, but house is older and quirky

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house is in a great location. You are literally 1 min from town. We enjoyed our stay overall. However we originally booked a room with a separate bedroom away from the living room. We have a young son that goes to bed early. Our original unit needed maintenance, and we were moved to a larger unit, but it didn’t have a separate room. It defeated the purpose of my original booking. The space’s heater takes a long time to warm up the room. Although it did eventually.San Juan accommodations are painfully expensive for what you get out of it. Overall, we enjoyed our weekend in San Juan!

Great location. Rental was accurately described. Only negative is that there are no optional shades for the windows. I stayed at this location for my night shift rotations so I had to sleep during the day, and with the lack of shades or curtains, it was light and very hard to sleep

loved it!

We enjoyed out stay. The picture shows a couch and there was no couch. There was a blow up bed, but that was not in the description. The walls are very thin and we were awaken every night at 1:00 am by the sound of the other residents coming home. Beautiful neighborhood, would be happy to stay there again.
