We had a great time. Time at the beach is always good. The unit needs some TLS. The trash bin was next to us . The hallway smelled really bad. Needs to be cleaned.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really liked the unit and the property, HOWEVER, the bed was in need of replacement! It was soft and sagged where people have slept so much so that my wife had to sleep on the couch for several days, and we left a day early because we were both so exhausted. We called the management company on the second but they said it was replaced 2 years ago and IF that is the case, it was very poor quality. Its a shame that this happened because everything else was so good.

Great Location

This is an awesome 1 bedroom condo. It’s a corner unit with its own private hallway and no one above or next to you. The owners have done a nice job updating things like the bathroom, kitchen counters and appliances. It was missing some basic staples like pen/paper, Coffee filters and salt/pepper. We would definitely stay here again.

Our new favorite place to stay

This property is very nice. Everything you need is located at this resort. My wife and I enjoyed every moment. The property is very clean, staff was friendly, and room was superb. View of the ocean was amazing.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Sandestin is a great place to vacation. It has beautiful grounds, beach and pool. I would recommend Westwinds to friends. Condo 4821 is a one bedroom on 14th floor which my husband and I felt was plenty of room for us and had beautiful views. My suggestion for 4821 is: it needs new paint and a new mattress. The kitchen supplies were limited and need to be replenished. The bedroom carpet was dirty and needed cleaning.

Awake to Amazing View

Large door with screen / balcony next to bed was a huge plus to awaken with a truly amazing view from the 14th floor. Easy access to beach, adequate supplies, clean, etc. Sunset balcony (separate) great view and totally private. Unit is on the side of the building so sun doesn't hit main balcony until late afternoon. Right off the elevator (no sounds) so no long trek down a hallway! Near trash chute (oddly quiet too) and very convenient. As a first time VRBO renter it seemed odd that info on condo doesn't come until 48 hours before arrival - a note a few days / week ahead with the process would have been great. Also, an unexpected text had final details regarding access codes.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our first time to Sandestin resort, and we were very pleased. The property grounds are beautiful, well kept to a very high level, which is a big difference than just renting a stand alone unit on the beach. Over 2,000 acres on both sides of the highway, all the shopping, it is very nice.We stayed in the Westwinds building and everything about it exceeded our expectations. I currently work in the field of facility support and I am knowledgeable on what standards and expectations are on public buildings. First, Security to get onto the resort property, security to enter the parking covered parking garage, security to enter the building. We never worried about our car getting broken into or things stolen from it. We felt and knew we were safe from any uninvited visitors. Second, The building itself is like a very nice hotel, inside and outside, the maintenance was very good, elevators all working and never a wait of more than 10-15 seconds, floors and walls all in very good condition. Third, our room was terrific, for my wife and I, the 1 bedroom unit was more than big enough, with balconies beach front and a side balcony that we could view miles down the beach. Everything worked! The pictures and descriptions in the listing were terrific and accurate. No surprises. In rental units, most of the time there is usually something broken or worn out. Not here. There were several very small things with paint and scratches, but very minor. Surprising to us was how quiet the building was. We did not hear anything from any of the other rooms. The location was perfect for us.Fourth, Vacation Haven property management company also exceeded our expectations. They had all the necessary supplies nicely packaged into the unit, the unit was spotless, they use the Hospitality phone app that has all your needed information, security codes, instructions, places to visit, eat, etc. Summary: Exceeded our expectations in all areas.

Things to know in advance

The property was great! Good view with exception of being unable to see sunrise and beach access was blocked until 7am. GPS (AppleMaps) took us to southwinds - go one more building to Westwinds! MAJOR ISSUE depending on your perspective: people with their own chairs and setups could congregate in front of paid for chair/umbrella setups- even between the rows right in front of paid for setups.

We loved the ability to rent beach chairs and umbrellas and the bar/snack stand at the pool area was open during the day and they served on the beach as well. Parking was convenient. Fitness facility although small was very nicely equipped. Location within the area was great for shopping/dining and entertainment!

Property is awesome. Unit needs a couple of updates.

The location cannot be beat. The property itself is stunning and full of amenities. The bed in this particular unit is very uncomfortable. You can tell if sinks in on both sides just looking at it, and offers zero support. Owner should invest in a quality mattress for guests. Also, we both felt the unit smells faintly like stale cigarette smoke each time you first walk in the door. It fades, but it’s there. We also had beach chairs, but no umbrella (as advertised in the check in info). I emailed Home Away when we arrived, but no response. Otherwise, it was clean and adequate for our stay.

Great place to stay for a couple!!! Double balconies, with great views of the ocean and the bay. I will definitely try to stay here again!!

The area is a great place to stay, eat and shop! We couldn’t say enough great things about our stay! We are already looking forward to another stay!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is the first time in this building. This one bedroom unit is spacious! Double sinks in the bathroom...two balconies for great views. We watched a pod of dolphins chase a school of fish from our balcony. The pool (heated)and the surrounding area was a great place to relax. The last week of April was a great time to enjoy the beach and restaurants without the crowds.

Great Getaway

Love the Gulf! We visited Sandestin in 1977 and Westwinds in 1999! Always a great time!
