Mermaid cottage is very quaint - right on Mermaid Street in the heart of Rye. We loved it. the beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed. We had a very smooth stay with excellent directions from Claire. We parked in the Market car park by the train station which was within an easy 5 min walk of the cottage. We will be back.

What a wonderful home base for my week in Rye and Sussex! From the initial contact, Claire made the process go very smoothly. It was a delight to pop in and out of this lovely house on Mermaid Street when I was exploring locally and a very welcome place to go home to after being away on a day trip. I couldn't believe how quiet the neighborhood (and neighbors) were -- you would never know you are at the center of town. I came to Rye especially to visit Lamb House but my second favorite activity was walking the 7-9 mile loop down along the estuary, past Camber castle, and to the English Channel (on a sunny day). My favorite meal --and there were many-- might just have been having high tea outside at the Cobbles Tea Room. This rental is a true gem and I hope to be lucky enough to come back again.

We stayed at Mermaid Cottage for a week at the beginning of July. We arrived by train, and the cottage was within easy walking distance from the station. There were also buses departing nearby to various beaches, which was very convenient for us.The house had everything we needed, including comfortable beds, fans, and a well-equipped kitchen. The Wi-Fi worked well, and the bed linen and towels were of excellent quality.Communication with Clare was outstanding. She helped us with many different things and was always quick to respond to any questions.We highly recommend staying here!

Perfect family cottage to explore Rye and surroundings

We spent lovely weekend in Rye staying in this cosy and comfortable cottage in the perfect location on Mermaid Street, close to the restaurants and bakeries on the High Street, and the fabulous Kino cinema.

Long weekend in Rye

Easter Break - wonderful

We loved staying in Mermaid Cottage. An ideal place in the centre of Rye. Rye is full of places to eat and drink and great walks from the doorstep. The cottage was clean and comfortable with a lovely Easter goody bag on our arrival. We are looking forward to returning.

Weekend at Mermaid cottage

The property was lovely and suited our party of 3 adults perfectly. It is situated at the top of the most picturesque street in town, close to all the restaurants and a great base to explore the area. Clare was a wonderful host and the goody bag on arrival was very welcome.

Beautiful Rye

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful little cottage. It was well equipped and very comfortable. The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming . The cottage was in the perfect location, such a pretty little street and it was very easy to walk into the centre of Rye.. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Historical Mermaid Street Cottage in Rye

A well kept, historical cottage that gives you an idea of what living in a three story, fairly small, three story cottage is like. Wish we had had sunny weather to enjoy the darling back patio, but we got rain instead.

Wonderful, comfortable, cozy home-from-home

Clare is very welcoming, and provides a warm and personal service. The cottage is lovely and a perfect cozy home from home. It is thoughtfully furnished and decorated to make the most use of the space and feel like a home instead of a bland characterless 'anywhere'. We have family in the area and they were extremely impressed too when they popped by the cottage!

The Gem of Rye

We had a fantastic stay in Clare’s beautiful property. The house is beautiful and in the beating heart of historic Rye. The host herself was unbelievably helpful and kind. It really felt like she wanted us to have the best holiday and went out of her way to ensure it happened! Would highly recommend.

Wonderful cottage

This was my second time staying in the charming Mermaid cottage, the house is lovely and great for a all group of friends. It is near everything - trains, buses, restaurants and bars and it is on the prettiest street in Rye. Claire is a wonderful and kind host, she greeted us on arrival, left essentials (wine, coffee, milk) and quickly responded to all our requests - thank you, we really appreciated it! I predict a third visit
