great location but very basic accommodation
Definitely a great location as I’ve lived in the area for 10 years, very accessible to local amenities and central London. However, I feel that the accommodation is not suitable for longer than a few days stay and not very functional for more than 2 people - I stayed for 2 weeks with my family and paid thousands of dollars thinking it would be “home away from home” and it was more like being in student accommodation- no dryer, no proper garbage can in kitchen meant we had a garbage bag lying around on the floor every day, not enough basic cooking tools such as a large pot or large frying pan or a proper large salad bowl meant I couldn’t cook properly for my family and had to resort going out to eat most of all time- even basics such as a ladle weren’t available - The kitchen supply and other things in the house (i.e. a no brown living room rug that once was a cream colour) is largely just cheap Ikea/old hand me downs and things one would throw away. Thrifty towels and bedding, cobwebs in bathroom, and no cleaning tools on hand such as mops etc. to use at one's disposal to maintain level of cleanliness. Host not on hand over xmas holidays to deal with issues immediately and when raised with host post-stay they did not care about or resolve my negative customer experience - very strange indeed and I suppose says it all about the quality of stay at this property

Firstly this review is mostly untruthful and in my opinion absolute tosh.
I have over forty 5* reviews and I ask you please to read some of these before making up your mind about this property.
Yes, this is a small 2 bedroom semi detached Victorian cottage, however it does have a lovely private garden and is in a prestigious location.
This particular guest stayed for two weeks over Christmas and New Year with her partner and mother, but it was only on her return home that she started bombarding me with messages full of complaints and requests for a refund and this situation went on for six weeks before she finally posted this review.
During her stay the guest never contacted me once, despite the fact that I messaged her on numerous occasions to ask if everything was ok and if she required anything.
I was actually staying in my other rental cottage next door until Christmas Eve, so very much on hand and when I went home for a few days over Christmas I obviously had someone else on standby to sort out any problems,
Half way through the stay someone went, by appointment, to change the bed linen and towels and again enquired if anything was required and was told there wasn’t a problem, although the person present at the cottage at the time wasn’t particularly pleasant, however I don’t believe this was the guest herself, but her mother.
I will address some of the accusations, firstly she is correct in saying there is no washer/dryer, I’m afraid there is only a washing machine and a drying rack, plus an ironing board and iron.
However, there is a cupboard full of cooking equipment including three frying pans of varying sizes and a glass salad bowl, although possibly not a ladle? Also, of course there is an electric oven, gas hob and microwave, so there is no reason whatsoever to dine out, unless one wants to. Not to mention there is dishwasher, so you don’t even have to get the washing up liquid out.
What else? The “brown” rug in the sitting room is actually beige and does come from Ikea, although it’s certainly not second hand and was spotless on the guests arrival, unfortunately not so clean on departure!
Obviously there is a waste bin in the kitchen and it is situated under the sink with an ample supply of black bin bags, when the bags are full they can then be placed in the dustbin located immediately outside, which is emptied weekly by the council. Why this guest felt the need to keep waste bags on the kitchen floor is totally inconceivable and beyond my comprehension..
As to cleaning equipment there is definitely a mop and bucket at the property together with a vacuum cleaner, sweeping brush and brush and dustpan, how else would we clean the cottage ourselves.
The bed linen is laundered white cotton and we supply white bath sheets, as well hand towels, bath mats and tea towels, all of which are changed weekly, although there is always a supply in the cupboard should it be needed.
We supply parking if arranged in advance and I did in fact give this guest some complimentary parking permits, should she require them over Christmas.
I also left a lovely cyclamen plant, a mini Christmas tree, a bottle of Prosecco and a card wishing her a very Happy Christmas and saying yet again to get in touch if she needed anything.
The nightly rental I charged was £175, which is actually quite reasonable for London, although I’m not quite sure how this equates to the thousands of dollars that's being quoted.
I’m afraid it’s become blatantly obvious to me that this whole exercise has been an attempt to extract an unjustified refund, when none was forthcoming the guest then posted this damning review.
A very distasteful and unpleasant situation.

We will come back
Our stay in N°31 was a real success
We used to live in Twickenham and came back in the area with our 3 children for a week.
The Owner kindly accepted to put an additional mattress, the second bedroom was therefore full but the house itself was big enaough.
This cute house is simply perfect, nothing is missing, clean and well arranged
During our stay even the sun was there.
The garden is tiny but nice, squirrel can be seen in the trees.
Free Parking is not easy but can be found @ about 10mn walk.
There is a book full of advices in the house which help to find its way in the house and closeby and the owner answer to all querries we have had before coming.
Area around the house is great, Walk along the river to , have a beer on the close Pub terrasse, Kew Garden, Bushy Park...
25mn away by train to central london
Nearest station to london is less than 5mn walk. Faster train can be taken from 15mn walk stations.
We could write a lot more, but we will summarize saying that we will come back in the future.

Delightful
Perfect property, superbly located, down a wonderfully historic and pretty side road.
Close to all necessary amenities, whether you are an avid walker, with or without your dog (s), or if you are visiting the local area for the rugby or the many local theatres.
The house itself is clean, bright, and has a fully fitted kitchen and wonderful enclosed garden. Fully recommend

Relaxed
Super location at end of no through road so only noise was that of wildlife in adjacent park. Within 5 minutes walk of Thames and also bus into Richmond Town Centre and from there into London. Val sorted out a couple of minor problems whilst we were staying and during the booking process quickly answered our questions. Ideal for what we were looking for, namely a safe and comfortable stay within easy reach of London. Recommend

Wonderful!
This is a lovely, quiet, restful place to stay. The property was well maintained, clean, with literature on how the appliances, wifi, etc. worked. The location is 10 min from the train station and closer to regular bus service; and a short walk to the Thames; 30 minute by train to London Waterloo. We found two great pubs and enjoyed our time so much we want to go back!

A great find!
We stayed at the start of June 2015 with our two girls (3 and 5). This is such a lovely cottage - really peaceful and lovely having some outside space. It is also so close to everything you need. We had picnics in the park which is literally just round the corner, yet were only 10 mins walk from the station to get into London if that is what you fancy. St Margarets is lovely and has enough coffee shops and restaurants to keep anyone going!
The cottage itself was perfect for what we wanted - it isn't huge but the four of us had plenty of space, even with all of the stuff the young children bring with them! The small touches like handwash, washing up liquid, kitchen towel etc make life much easier. We hope to come again.

Charming suburb of London!
We stayed in the Garden Cottage - a party of 4 adults and 1 small dog - who loved the small, patio garden. The cottage is comfortable and well supplied with the basic necessities that you need on arrival. It is located in a peaceful cul-de-sac and conveniently situated for public transportation links to Hampton Court Palace and the City of London.
Val, the owner was extremely helpful at all times and provided us with excellent information on how best to travel into London. Following her advice we walked (about 8 mins) from the cottage to St. Margaret's station, caught the above ground train to Waterloo, then a quick and easy change to the Bakerloo line into Piccadilly.Total travel time from cottage - 45-50 mins.
Upon departure from the cottage, Val followed up with us regarding our stay and promptly returned our security deposit. This is the mark of a very good hostess!
And thank you to Freddie for checking us in on the Sunday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay in this lovely cottage. It is in a delightful location in a quiet cul-de-sac with the river walk and parks close by. There is a local bus stop at the top of the road and St Margarets train station is within easy walking distance.

Comfortable home away from home in great location
The description of the cottage was quite accurate. It was very comfortable & provided me with a good base & also allowed me plenty of opportunity to entertain my two children & grandchildren who have moved to England from Australia. I also brought my daughter & another grandchild & all amenities required for a baby were provided including a stair barrier. The location to transport was excellent & the streetscape delightful. We hired a car which wasn't necessary as buses to the airport & Hampton Court were nearby as was St Margaret's station. Restaurants were plentiful nearby so it all made for an easy stay. The owner is a great communicator & was in touch via text to ensure we were happy. Excellent.

Lovely compact cottage, beautifully presented, cosy and warm and such a peaceful area. Great riverside walks, so handy for Richmond and Twickenham stadium. The owner, Val is very helpful and easy to contact and arrange things with. We had a super stay and can recommend it to anyone, we usually stay in a hotel in Richmond and this was so much nicer we could really chill and relax with our 2 daughters

Well worth another visit
Our group of 4 had stayed here last year and we were pleased to be able to come again this summer. The cottage is absolutely delightful: it is quite compact but has everything you could want to feel totally at home. It benefits from being in a quiet cul-de-sac with no through traffic. It was especially lovely to sit out in the very private garden either to eat or just to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Large parks and the river are close by. We regularly used the foot-ferry to get to the other side of the river too. There are lots of useful and interesting shops and a railway station just a few minutes walk away in St. Margarets. Larger shops are fairly close by in Twickenham (a relatively short walk along the river) and Richmond. There are really good transport links to other areas, central London, and Heathrow.
As before, Val was incredibly helpful and welcoming. I'm hoping that the annual event we attend will be in the same area again next year so that we can pay yet another visit to our favourite London holiday home.

Idyllic cottage - charming and homely
Over the course of a couple of months earlier this year, my husband rented this cottage on and off as a base for work when he was up in town. We then visited at the weekends whenever we could.
It was a heavenly, charming place that we immediately fell in love with. Its location is perfect. Hidden away down a no through road, beside the park and just around the corner from the river - you would have no idea that you were so close to the city. The parrots were incredible too. Loads of them in the trees above the cottage!
We spent many happy hours in Marble Hill Park and wandering along the river towards Twickenham or Richmond and stopping off at the White Swan on the way.
There is a bus stop at the top of the road which takes you into Richmond in a few minutes and also parking both on Montpelier Row over night or at the top on Richmond Road where you can park all day very reasonably.
The house itself was perfect. It was very well kept and equipped and always had great linen and towels.
We also loved opening the french windows onto the garden which you could sit in and feel really away from it all.
Finally, the owner Val is totally accommodating and was very kind at all times. She was a delight to deal with.
We hope to stay again when ever we need to be up in London again in the future.

VERY COMFORTABLE 'HOME AWAY' - Quaint and charming
Wonderful garden cottage situated in a quiet and attractive 'no-through road' residential street. Beside Marble Hill Park and very close to the Thames tow path....so endless available and interesting walks. Very good bus service just at the end of the street and a pleasant walk to both St Margarets and Richmond. Good pubs and restaurants scattered about the close neighbourhood.
Cottage was immaculate and provided just everything you could want from large fluffy towels to a vast range of kitchen utensils etc.
Attached garden was marvellous as french doors opened onto it which brought the outside in and made it so relaxed. The odd squirrel appeared too!
A wonderfully character filled abode and one which we'd loved to return to one day.

Wohlfühlen wie zuhause-you feel good like at home

Review # 9100216 "Feel like home-you feel good like at home"
My family (my partner and our 13 year old son) and I immediately closed the cottage in the heart. It offers a pretty and functional furnishings and harmonious space dimensions; the two bedrooms are cozy, the beds comfortable. Everything is wonderfully clean and orderly. It also does not realize that it is a detached house; the walls are well insulated, not at all noisy. The highlight is the beautiful garden and the beautiful surroundings. Who loves parks and rest get their costs: Marble Hill and all'die other parks in the immediate area; also Hampton Court and Kew Gardens around the corner. At the station you can see St. Margaret's foot in 10 minutes by the nice streets of Richmond. The train ride to Waterloo Station takes 30 minutes. The sounding perhaps a little long. But we were in the evening always glad to escape the hustle and bustle and the crowds of the big city of London,
The contact Val by e-mail in English works just fine. It responds to every question and also the parking problem in the Montpellier Row resolved favorably.
For anyone who is not in the middle, but still want to do in London vacation, the ideal district. I would not hesitate to book it again.

CLASSY LOCATION
We spent a short break in this very nice property in January of this year, specifically to shop the last of the London sales and see a West End show.
We had a very enjoyable time and were most impressed with the classy location, which was also extremely quiet. The cottage was cosy and warm and excellent for transport. We loved our stay so much that we made a return visit a couple of months ago, the weather by then was warm enough to have lunch in the beautiful garden. The River Thames between Richmond and Twickenham is lovely, with lots of interesting places to visit and we loved it!

Country Quiet, Easy City Access
We - a family of four, two teenaged children - wanted a quiet place away from the hubbub of downtown London, but close enough to be able to get into town easily. We knew Twickenham from having lived there in the mid-90's (before kids!).
The cottage was exactly as advertised - and thoroughly wonderful. Quiet, clean, well appointed with everything we needed...and the owner, Val, was absolutely accommodating on everything we needed.
The kitchen was great and appointed with everything we needed. The big, fluffy towels were a big thing for my daughters. Plenty of hot water, washing machine, iron...everything we needed.
The location is wonderful...if you get tired of London there is more than enough to do in Richmond and Kew. You could spend a whole day just strolling through Marble Hill Park right behind the cottage, walking along the Thames and hitting a pub or two.
Many good restaurants in Richmond...only a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride away.
And Hampton Court and Bushy Park are nearby as well.
All in all a great stay - comfortable, clean, bright and airy. Highly recommended ...and when we return to England we'll stay there again!

Perfect Holiday Location
Myself, my wife and our daughters aged 10 and 12 very much enjoyed our
stay in this charming property during November.
For us the location was perfect, the street was very quiet with no
traffic noise.
The property was adjacent to a nice park and the river Thames, yet was
close to shops and restaurants and the amenities of both St. Margaret's
and Richmond. Also, it was very easy to catch the train into London to
visit all the famous sites.
The cottage is not large, but was just perfect for a family of four
and the garden was a bonus.
There was plenty of information about places to visit, but we would
definitely recommend a visit to Hampton Court Palace, as the kids
particularly enjoyed exploring the maze and also Windsor Castle, which
we found was easy to do by the train from Richmond.
The White Swan on the riverbank is also a must, nice setting for lunch
or just a drink.

Great Location
Loved the location, very smart, the hub without the hubbub!
Easy access to Central London, but loads to do locally and especially
liked Kew Gardens.
Very nice property with everything needed for a holiday stay,
including a private garden. Also, a good selection of books, DVDs’ and
games and the cupboards had basic essentials such as tea, coffee and
sugar, as well soap powder and dishwasher tablets etc.
We were made to feel very welcome in this home away from home.
A success!

Cosy cottage in a beautiful peaceful location
Four of us were attending an event across the river in Richmond, and were delighted to find this super little cottage. It's in a beautiful and peaceful spot right next to Marble Hill Park. Even though our visit was during the hottest week of the summer, the cottage was cool enough with the sash windows open top and bottom. As it's at the end of a cul-de-sac then there was no traffic noise to keep us awake. The cottage is compact - the twin bedroom may feel a little small for 2 larger than average people - but was just fine for us (4 average sized adults).
The garden is very private and shaded in the morning and early afternoon - a delightful place to have breakfast and lunch and a friendly robin was a regular visitor. We were out and about so much enjoying the wonderful weather and the nearby parks that we didn't have time to use the large selection of games, DVDs, or books.
There's a great selection of shops and cafes only a few minutes walk away in St Margarets. An excellent butcher, large greengrocer, wholefood shop and french bakery were our particular favourites.
There are lovely walks along the river to both Twickenham and Richmond, and the foot ferry to Ham House was really handy. Val was incredibly helpful and welcoming and we are all looking forward to a return trip next year.
