Cottage Thorn. Un pittoresque chalet de 300 ans situé dans un village rural

Le Thorn Cottage est un pittoresque cottage vieux de 300 ans situé dans le village rural de Combeinteignhead, à proximité des rivières Teign, Teignmouth, Shaldon et Torquay et de Dartmoor. La rivière Teign est à 10 minutes à pied, les plages de Shaldon et de Teignmouth à 10 minutes en voiture. Dartmoor à 20 minutes en voiture. Il y a de belles promenades pour vos amis à quatre pattes du village et une vue magnifique sur l'estuaire de la Teign.
Le chalet dispose de deux chambres doubles, une avec un lit à baldaquin, une chambre double et un canapé-lit dans le salon.
Il a une belle grande cuisine nommée / salle à manger avec des plans de travail en granit. Lave-linge, réfrigérateur / congélateur, lave-vaisselle, micro-ondes et grand four.
Le salon dispose d'une cheminée à bois et d'un radiateur à accumulation, ainsi que d'une télévision intelligente et d'un lecteur DVD. Wifi.
Il y a un parking privé en face du chalet.
Dans la cour il y a un barbecue et des meubles pour manger dehors. C'est un beau piège solaire. A également une toilette extérieure.
La salle de bain a une grande douche et un bain de pieds sur pattes.

Characterful cottage in a lovely little village

Thorn Cottage is bursting with period features. Gill was very welcoming, showing us around on arrival. We ate at The Wild Goose on both nights of our stay and highly recommend both the pub and Thorn Cottage.

Perfect for family with dog

We was lucky to find a dog friendly place for my family (6 person including my daughter who is 4) The kitchen was lovely. That was our favourite in the house.The owner was very helpful and kind whenever I had questions she answered by what’s up. She have left wine, biscuits, coffee, milk for start and a bottle of wine too. The house is very close to beaches, waterfalls.

Old cottage with well equipped kitchen

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The kitchen is the heart of it. It is very well equipped, herbs and some start up consumables were kindly provided, 6 bar seats, no separate table. It is truly old with hand carved wooden beams and does have atmosphere. The sitting room with the old fire place was not quite to our linking but served as 3rd bedroom in our case anyway. Beds are in good condition, quite soft, British standard (king size). Good wlan, no mobile connection in the house. Good support by the host throughout our stay. Thank you!

Amazing Stay !!!

Stayed here August Bank holiday week with my husband and our 6 year old grandaughter. I will start with the village which beautiful and has the most friendly residents. It has one pub called The Wild Goose in the heart of the village with an excellent selection of drinks and food, lovely Landlord too. The property is also minutes from the Estuary where there is a further pub with excellent views and menu. The property is in an excellent position for exploring all parts of Devon and is a stones throw from Newton Abbott, Paignton and Torquay. Lets talk about the property. What a beautiful quirky cottage. The host Gill and her husband live in the village and have given this their all, they are on hand to give you their knowledge of the area and deal with any queries you may have during your stay. It is beautifully clean and they have thought of everything when it comes to pleasing the guests. I stay in a lot of cottages each year and this has to be the best equipped kitchen I have ever come across. A car is necessary for a stay in this village like most of the small villages in Devon. Would recommend this place 100%

Such a lovely, homey welcoming cottage and THE best host ever!! Everyone loved their stay there.

Extremely clean, tidy and lovely cottage with everything we needed and much more on our arrival. We’ve stayed at a lot of rental properties over the years and I must say this has been the easiest start, most welcoming and cosy place we have stayed at. We had a wonderful weekend there made 10 times better by the wonderful owner looking out for us and being so thoughtful. I will for sure look to stay here again. Maybe we’ll bring the dog next time!

Absolutely can't fault the cottage , it has everything needed for a perfect break. The welcome pack consisted of everything needed for a much needed break including, wine ,& beer ! Gill was a perfect host & the local pub/ restaurant was friendly serving great food at reasonable cost . We will definitely be visiting again Lesley & Martin

Lovely stay at this cottage.

Great cottage, well equipped, comfy beds, large shower,everything you need in a kitchen. Log fire for winter months. Local pub 60yds away greatat,rustic, very friendly and food is great. Landlord very amicable.

wonderful short break

Arrived to find an impeccably clean cottage. The kitchen was so well appointed it could hold the Masterchef final. Comfortable beds and an effective decent shower are two of the necessities in our lives and we weren't disappointed. Local pub (20 yards away) was fab. No problems at all.

Wonderful

Beautiful cottage! Extremely clean and well equipped, especially the kitchen. Brilliant communication with the owner through the booking process, check in and during our stay. Great location, good for walking and exploring the area. The Wild Goose is excellent, but book well in advance as they get fully booked. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this cottage.

Visiting family

The property is ideally situated for us as it is only 10 minutes from family who live in Newton Abbot. The cottage was very comfortable with everything in the kitchen that you could need. The garden is a good size for sitting out in good weather. The village is quiet although there is a lot of through traffic. It is only 10 minutes walk to a lovely field on the estuary, perfect for walking dogs and the water is very clean. Ideal location for visiting the seaside towns like Torquay and for Dartmoor.

Superb cottage

We were met by Gill the owner of the cottage who gave us a thorough briefing of everything we needed to know. The cottage it’s self had everything we needed to make our stay a memorable one. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The situation of the cottage was ideal for what we wanted to explore th3 South of Devon. The local pub, the Wild Goose was superb, friendly and food excellent. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting @quiet relaxing vacation.

A hidden gem!

What a fabulous cottage in a perfect location and an amazing country pub on the doorstep. Certainly a family holiday we shall be repeating as we have so much more to explore! Thank you Gill, your communication and holiday cottage exceed all expectations, especially the 4 poster bed that our 4yr old daughter thought was a magical princess bed. 😁
