Characterful, quirky property with everything we needed. Central location in Winchcombe was perfect for our walking holiday, though single pane windows and overnight roadworks did make for a noisy first night, much better the second night.
We have a wonderful time staying at Dove Cottage. Katharine was very responsive and shared a lot of great information beforehand to prepare us for our stayThe cottage was warm and cozy and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend and we will be back Iâm sure.
This was our second stay in Dove Cottage and we love it. Charming cottage with lots of room. Convenient location to other Cotswolds villages, and to local shops, restaurants, and pubs. Parking in the Back Lane lot is very easy. Hope to return for another visit
Charming and comfortable cottage in a small town with fascinating history and also at the intersection of several hiking trails. We had the best sleep each night. The gallery art in the cottage added flair and interest. We would definitely recommend Dove Cottage.
Such a charming place. Loved the experience of staying in a Tudor cottage. Beautifully decorated, great location, walking distance to Sudeley Castle, lovely pubs and groceries. Definitely recommend this place.
Loved it! First time in this part of the Cotswolds and found this to be an ideal location to explore from. Local restaurants were very good. Beds were very comfortable.
Definitely recommend!
Surely Castle was well worth the visit.
Extremely well suited for two couples. Comfortable, roomy, clean, charming, and in an excellent location for visiting The Cotswolds. Within walking distance of shops, pubs, and restaurants. Couldn't have been happier with our choice of lodging.
Dove Cottage, in the historic town of Winchcombe, has been lovingly restored to welcome its visitors. Within 2 blocks of Dove Cottage, visitors can find everything they need. Lots of opportunity for walks through the Cotswolds and opportunities to explore the fascinating history of the area. Bus service to places further afield is excellent, so day trips are easy.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The Dove Cottage was absolutely perfect! We traveled from Texas to visit the town my great grandmother was born in. The home provided us a great space to fit 3 adults and 2 children. We had a beautiful sitting room to enjoy our family coming to visit from cheltenham. The cottage was filled with beautiful art and so much love. Loved the North Bakery close by.
This is a really lovely property set in the heart of charming Winchcombe but at the same time very secluded. The property is very well equipped and light and cosy even in the depths of winter (we stayed mid December), there are lots of lovely pubs and eating places within walking distance and easy access to Sudeley Castle and great country walks. And if you are an art-lover you are in paradise - with so much original artwork on the walls - a real treat.
A lovely property in central Winchcombe. Very pleasant and spacious. But do specify in advance how you want the beds made up as were expecting a double as shown in the picture but it was only made up as a single.
What a wonderful cottage and location. Right on the High street, a quick walk from anything you need, in a charming historic village. We appreciated the hosts' proactive host communication to ensure we had everything we needed. The cottage was beautifully appointed and comfortable. Wouldn't change a thing. If we are lucky enough to make it back to the Cotswolds, we'll rebook at the same place.
I can't recommend Dove Cottage enough. It was beautifully decorated, warm, cozy and with every amenity provided. The location in the middle of Winchcombe was wonderful, with all the shops and cafes at your disposal. It really is the perfect country village and Dove Cottage is the perfect cottage inside it. The manager was extremely helpful and responded to all our questions immediately. Again, a lovely cottage in a lovely village.
The village of Winchcombe is charming and easily accessible to nearby Cotswold villages. There are a few pubs and restaurants which served very good, local food. We initially struggled with heating the home but after calling the owners, we were instructed on what to do to make the space cozy and warm. The beds were comfortable and included nice linens.
The kitchen was lacking in basic supplies like napkins, paper towels, cream for coffee, etc. It would have been nice to have had a "welcome" offering of a bottle of wine or a few pieces of fruit. There is a nice espresso maker and the owners had left coffee for us.
We had a wonderful time here at Doves Cottage.
Itâs a charming place in the heart of Winchcombe and served us well as home base to explore the Cotswolds.
A handful of coffee shops markets and restaurants - even one with a Michelin star - are just a few steps away.
The house itself is very well appointed.
It doubles as an art studio so there many works on display which makes the decor top notch and they are available for purchase as well.
There were eight of us and we all fit nicely - beds for all - two and a half baths - common area seating.
The back walkway and garden are beautiful with foliage and flowers - be sure to yell out Squirrel! when you see it on the neighbors house.
Sudeley Castle is very close - we walked - about 30 minutes - and a definite must see - thereâs a queen buried there.
Many thanks to Katharine for her hospitality!
We REALLY enjoyed our visit to Winchcombe, and staying at the Dove Cottage was a highlight. It is exactly as advertised, with flexible accommodations, a central location, and responsive, friendly hosts. We would stay here again without hesitation. Upon your arrival, we highly recommend a pint of real ale in the back garden of the Lion Inn, just two minutes away. Dinner there, and at the local Indian place, was great too.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dove Cottage. It perfectly accommodated two elderly grandparents, three kids ages 9,14 and 17 along with my wife and I for a weekâs stay in the Cotswolds. We loved the updates mixed with some of the historical nuisances of the cottage. It was appropriately outfitted to allow for multiple evenings of cooking in while also being within easy walking distance of several great local Winchcombe Pubs. We utilized the wood burning stove on a few chilly evenings and it took away the chill and set a cozy atmosphere in the front room. It was a wonderful place to call home for the week and we would absolutely stay again.
Kate (the artist Katharine Dove) I live in Cheltenham andI spend my time painting, walking my dogs, travelling and playing tennis. My artwork is sold across the world through De Montfort Fine Art the Clarendon galleries. My paintings often feature the Cotswolds and Cornwalls, two places where I'm very much at home.
I was keen not just to have a holiday home but also to contribute to the local art community.
Dove cottage provided both a beautiful cottage and also a sitting room that doubles up as an art gallery from time to time. When not let as a holiday cottage it is a gallery for local artists to display their work. We are also hoping it will attract residencies, artists coming from all over the country to paint and display their work in the gallery while staying in the cottage. Different artists will be in the gallery each week working and displaying their art.
The opportunity to stay in a cottage that is not only beautiful but also showcases a unique variety of original art. The whole cottage will from time to time be used as a gallery and so the art on display will be changed regularly. The sitting room has a large inglenook fireplace with log burner.
For artists the unique benefit is the opportunity to stay in a property from which they can paint and also display and sell their work.
For other guests the cottage is beautifully and comfortably furnished. The rooms are spacious and everything is on your doorstep - butcher, baker (all the old fashioned high street shops) and many bars and restaurants.
Winchcombe is vibrant small town and the gallery fronts onto the Cotswold Way. All we have to do is open the front door to the gallery and we have lots of interested visitors..
