The cottage was perfect for my stay. The pub selling decent beer just added to a great stay. There was live acoustic music on my last night. A near perfect cover of Neil Young’s harvest moon.

Comfortable cottage for two

Nice clean and comfortable cottage, close to York with a lovely local village pub attached. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and full English breakfast was excellent.

Cottage was a lovely suprise very nice and cosy

Hosts wad very obliging and lovely nothing was too much trouble;taxi to and from our wedding venue was excellent too; breakfast was also lovely all in all a perfect stay.

Faultless. Owners were very helpful and friendly. Location was perfect for our wedding. Breakfast was brilliant. Beer was cheap and they even provided a taxi service.

Great accommodation!

We stayed here due to attending a wedding at Sandburn Hall. We were allocated a lovely cottage and the price was very reasonable. The owners are very helpful and will provide transport to and from the wedding for a small charge, (much cheaper than a taxi) and they were happy to put balloons and banners up at breakfast time which l had provided for my Son's 21st Birthday. I would definitely recommend this lovely place.

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend here after attending a 2-day course in York.

We stayed in a large double bedroom with en suite in the pub. The room also had flatscreen TV and sofa and was a warm and welcoming place to relax at the end of the day. It was very clean and comfortable and the en suite had a good power shower. It was well located for sightseeing and shops and lovely to be in the countryside. There were plenty of places to eat locally for an evening meal.

Local stay for wedding

We needed somewhere relatively close to the wedding venue to eliminate a late night drive home. The Thompson's Arms was just a a couple of miles away and, although it was not desirable to walk country roads in the dark, the landlord provided a taxi service to the venue then returned for us later.

A comfortable place to stay but an odd experience at breakfast

I stayed overnight for work. I was given one of the cottages which was a really pleasant surprise at no extra cost. The cottage had a kitchen, living area and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs, all very clean pleasant and comfortable.
