Sunny 1-Bed apartment in lovely mountain village

Discover the historic village of La Brigue, Mercantour national park, Alpes-Maritime region and north-east Italy from our lovely apartment. This small comfortable home is a perfect base for walking and exploring holidays. We welcome small dogs too, but please note conditions below.

La Brigue is located just off the Vallee de la Roya, which runs north from Ventimiglia into the Alps above Tende. Due to its location in an east-west side valley, which follows the course of the River Levense, La Brigue is one of the sunniest villages in the area and, with windows on 3 sides, our apartment catches lots of sunshine. La Brigue also avoids the traffic on the main road two kilometres away. It nevertheless has a bustling life of its own. La Brigue was Italian until local residents voted in a plebiscite to become French in 1947. Street names are Italian and local language and culture are French mixed with Italian. The village has narrow streets that separate natural-stone buildings, some renovated with fresh pastel facades. There are several highly notable buildings in and near the village.

The Les Alpes d’Azur apartment is located in Place de Nice, a large square which includes the 18th-century octagonal Chapelle Saint-Michel. Some buildings, including ours, have characteristic ‘trompe-l’oeil’ facades. On the ground floor of our building is a popular, shaded terrace bar, the Bar des Platanes.

Apartment 1 at Les Alpes d’Azur has one double bedroom and a lounge/kitchen/dining area with sofa-bed, making it suitable for couples, 3 adults or a family with up to two small children. As a self-catering apartment, you'll find everything you need for a perfect stay.

There is one bedroom with double bed. There are 2 bedside tables with drawers and bedside lights, a large wardrobe with hanging space and shelves and a small folding desk/table. The bedroom has an east-facing balcony with mountain views - perfect for morning coffee and breakfast – and there is also a window facing south.

The airy lounge/kitchen/dining area has a west-facing balcony overlooking Place de Nice and Chapelle Saint-Michel, with mountain views beyond. There are two south-facing windows so that the room is filled with sun and light. The kitchen has fridge, hob, oven, toaster, kettle, freezer and microwave. There is a wood fire to keep you cosy and warm during your stay, as well as electric heaters.

There is a bathroom with toilet, bidet, washbasin and walk-in shower.

Linen, towels and an iron are all included to make your stay more comfortable.

House Rules:
- Check-in time is 5pm and check-out is 10am.
- Smoking is not allowed.
- There is no parking available at the property, but you can load/unload at the door. Limited parking is available in Place de Nice. Ample parking is available in several locations a further 5 minutes' walk away.
- 1 or 2 small well-behaved dog(s) are allowed at the property. Please inform us in advance. We charge €25 per dog per stay, payable direct to the owner prior to arrival.
- There is a cleaning fee of €49.

La Brigue holds a number of number of events and festivals each year, including the unique Fête de la Brebis Brigasque, a vibrant celebration of the Brigasque ewe, which aims to safeguard the endangered breed and promote local traditions. A large marquee is erected in Place de Nice in the summer and some of the events can be noisy.
