A perfect quiet place to relax. This is the place if you want to read a book, take a swim or just sit in the sun. Get down to the river where you’ll find a bar which also sells food. A pizzeria and another restaurant within 5 minutes walk of the gite. Hosts are really friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The gite has everything you need. A supermarket is not far away. We would thoroughly recommend it and we will be back.

A truly enjoyable stay away!

A fabulously tranquil setting with outdoor space under vines overlooking a beautiful garden and swimming pool. Everything you need is there. Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, great shower room, lounge, BBQ and fabulous hosts that really know how to make your stay truly enjoyable. Combined with the lovely village and sights of the area,what more could you need.

Good Time in May!

We had a wonderful three weeks here. Everything you could want was available including washing machine, dishwasher and swimming pool.. The property deserves the 5* rating we gave Port d'Envaux is a lovely rural village situated on the Charente river. As well as being a centre for walking and activity on the river, it is ideally situated for visiting many attractions. We found it worthwhile to do a bit of research before we arrived although the owners were grest at advising on possible visits.

Great place to stay in a wonderful location

As described in listings . Beautiful garden with great swimming pool which was heated . Nice to sit out in the covered area in the late evening sunshine . Accommodation was perfect for us sitting room , kitchen, bedroom and bathroom all good ..village lovely with two great restaurants. And the bar down by the river was perfect for lazing around . Safe to swim in the river also .Everything you need in walking distance . Easy access to some nice places to visit including La Rochelle, Rochefort, Saintes . Also a lovely chateau in walking distance to amble around . Overall a perfect peaceful place to stay with owners Roddy and Suzy always on hand to have a chat . Will hopefully be back for more relaxation.

Idyllic Retreat

I would recommend this property to everyone. Set in beautiful surroundings in a stunning wee village, it has everything you could want for a quiet and peaceful time away; whilst accommodating all of your needs. The cottage has all modern necessities, at the same time as being cosy and welcoming. The swimming pool is amazing and was very much needed during the heat dome we struck. The setting is amongst a much-loved cottage garden - you really could not ask for more. Susie and Roddy were the perfect hosts. They were very friendly and welcoming and assisted us with any queries we had - also providing extras we did not envisage - eg.bread and cheese, taking us to event venue. They also ensured we had privacy. Thanks you so much for a wonderful experience.

Extraordinaire

Après un accueil chaleureux, on traverse un joli jardin fleuri où l'on peut cueillir des fruits et des légumes puis on contourne la piscine (avec abri, ce qui est appréciable) et on arrive au gîte à la décoration soignée. 3 jours de calme en Charente

Le gîte est très bien équipé et le propriétaire Roddy, très arrangeant et très sympathique. L'intérieur est frais et cela même pendant les grosses chaleurs. L'endroit est très calme avec un beau jardin et une piscine couverte, parfaite pour bébé. Les petits moins: endroit un peu petit pour 1 couple avec bébé, un peu sombre et un peu poussiéreux. Logement à 5min à pied supérette Api ouverte 7/7 et 24/24 et restaurant + pizzeria.

Très bon séjour

Nous avons passé un excellent moment dans cette petite maison, idéalement située dans un village et un secteur magnifique. Les propriétaires sont particulièrement accueillants, la maison très bien équipée était fraîche par temps de canicule.

Week-end Détente

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Le cadre est très agréable avec un beau jardin. Ambiance ombragée pour les repas ou ensoleillée au bord de la piscine au choix. L'accueil est chaleureux et généreux de nombreuses attentions des proprietaires. Le gite est très bien équipé. Le village a du charme et une station d'activités nautiques sur la Charente.Tout est accessible à pied. Le littoral n'est pas si loin pour profiter des joies de l'océan. Merci !

Super séjour

L accueil et l’hospitalité des propriétaires sont très chaleureux. Le studio est très propre, très calme. La terrasse ombragée rend l’ensemble idyllique. Toutes les attentions pour les convives sont appréciables. Le jardin et la piscine sont des atouts majeurs pour l’extérieur. Un séjour très réussi que nous recommandons fortement.

La maison est nichée dans un grand jardin de style Alice aux pays des merveilles.Un vrai petit cocon ! Roddy est aux petits soins. Le potager nous a été ouvert : tomates, concombre et prunes du jardin.La piscine est très sympa. Je recommande.

Perfecte vakantie

Roddy en Susie zijn de meest aangename, fijne gastheren die je maar kan wensen: bereikbaar, vriendelijk, behulpzaam, gericht op hun gasten, ... Het huisje zelf is zoals beschreven in de advertentie. Voor mijn echtgenoot was het huisje en de tuin 'liefde op het eerste zicht'. Zoals steeds moet ik altijd even wennen om dan volop te gaan genieten. Het huisje zelf heeft alles wat je nodig hebt: goed uitgeruste keuken, zeer goede frigo, goed bed en douche, ... Ook de omgeving is ons zeer goed bevallen: Saintes, La Rochelle, Ile de Ré en zijn fietsen, en de talloze kleine - zeer de moeite waard - dorpjes in de omgeving. Waar wij ook heel erg van genoten hebben waren de Lapidiales en co. en laat ons niet vergeten de heerlijke restaurantjes in de buurt. Kortom een zeer fijne vakantie

Cozy and calm

Beautiful relaxing stay

Everything here is fabulous the whole house beautifully clean and superbly well equipped even a lovely welcome package. Roddy was super friendly and helpful when needed. Lovely helpful book about local restaurants shops places to go etc. There was fruit in the garden too. Lovely clean warm pool. Thanks and hope to be back again. 😁

A French paradise

Myself and my two daughters have just spent a wonderful 10 days in Port d'Envaux. The gite has been newly renovated and is beautifully appointed with rustic but luxurious charm. Lots of thoughtful details make la Cachette really special to include high quality beauty products, bathrobes, scented candles, record player and vinyl, a fantastic sized bathroom and a comfy mattress to name but a few. All of the above made our stay feel extra luxurious. Upon arrival we received a welcome pack to include, cheese, coffee, wine, milk etc meaning we could immediately relax rather than needing to rush out to the shops. The swimming pool is wonderful and always a beautiful temperature due to the 'abri' the owners installed. The terrace (perhaps my favourite part) was perfect to enjoy a coffee, glass of wine or share a meal. The shade was very welcome and you are surrounded by plants and a view of the beautiful garden which is lovingly cared for by the owners. The village is one if the nicest I have stayed in with restaurants, a bakery and so many activities to enjoy on the river. All in all a truly memorable holiday - the Charente is waiting to be explored! The hosts were very welcoming and helpful and their passion for the region and the interior design of the gite was evident the moment we arrived. Thank you to both of you for a really fantastic 10 days! xx

An idyllic retreat

We stayed for 10 days and it was wonderful! Even before we arrived Susan and Roddy provided excellent directions and very kindly provided bread, wine, cheese, etc so we had food for our first night. They were wonderful hosts, very friendly but not intrusive, and the property was beautiful - even more so than in the pictures. The gite itself is very comfortable with everything you need, including a proper kitchen with oven and hob and every utensil you could want, an excellent bathroom with walk in shower, a very comfortable bed, and a cosy living area equipped with all the books and games you’d need if the weather ever forced you to stay indoors. The gardens are beautiful, and the pool glorious! We hired a car so could enjoy the wonderful coast and countryside, but there are 2 restaurants, a pizzeria, and boulangerie within 5 minutes’ walk, not to mention the beautiful river with boats and canoes for hire, so no need to go beyond the village. It was bliss!
