Wonderful stay

It has been a wonderful stay. the house is clean and nice. the view is outstanding and the hosts are just perfect !! We had a very nice time and will be back for sure soon !

From our arrival to departure, Borge del Ulivi was just what our family needed for the last leg of our Italy adventure! With close proximity to Bologna, Modena & Maranello we were able to visit multiple areas & then return to our lovely apartment to enjoy the peace & quiet. Francesco & his parents were lovely hosts, who gave us great recommendations on restaurants, gelato spots, grocery stores… they even made our Easter Sunday reservation for us at a beautiful hilltop restaurant. The scenery was breathtaking, pictures don’t do it justice. It was a bit early in the season when we visited, so we couldn’t enjoy the pool & outdoors as we would during the summer, but hopefully we can return one day to experience the outdoor perks this property offers.

Overall perfect

Wonderful flat, central in the Emilia Romagna, perfect for daily trips. Incredibly clean and well stocked, the view from the Pool is amazing. The son of the owners made us feel very welcome.

Best part of our grand Italian escape

We stayed in a 2 bdr apartment with private garden and enjoyed shared swimming pool and bbq. The host was very kind to book a restaurant for us on Monday. The apartment and the property are very clean and well maintained. We've got fantastic holidays there.

Great place to relax

We did love the location. We were the only one in the apartments. So we could just the pool at our own. The hosts are great and we now enjoy the homemade honey and olive oil.

Borgo degli Ulivi

We had a wonderful stay at Borgo degli Ulivi. Alessandro and Angela were welcoming hosts (et pour les francophones, Alessandro parle français). We stayed in the Garden apartment, which was comfortable. We particularly appreciated the private terrace. The infinity pool was a great way to cool off on the hot July afternoons, and as other guests have noted, the view of the picturesque landscape enchanting.

Beautiful place and welcoming hosts!

We had a lovely stay! The garden apartment is even nicer than in photos - very clean, cozy and comfortable. Alessandro's family was welcoming and friendly - Gregorio met with us at check-in, showed us around and remained available to help with any questions. The private patio under the trees was a fantastic place to sit with a morning coffee or a casual dinner in the evening, and the pool and the views were absolutely amazing! We were thankful for the air conditioning too, as it was a hot week. We really enjoyed staying in a place that was small, family-run and semi-private, with one other family staying at the same time - we enjoyed meeting them and playing some games in the pool together. Valsamoggia is a beautiful area, conveniently located close to Bologna and lots of day trip destinations. Five stars on every aspect of this stay, our family of three (with a 15-year-old) had a wonderful time and we wouldn't hesitate to return!

Family vacation in Bologna

We stayed in the Garden unit for 9 days in mid July. The property is beautiful and Alessandro and his family are wonderful people and great hosts. They were very accommodating to our family by amending the pool hours. The property is perfectly situated to see many great areas around Bologna and all are within about an hours’ drive. The only issue we had was the heat. Unfortunately there were heat warnings throughout this part of Europe in July and the property is not set up yet to deal with those temps, so it made sleeping and relaxing very difficult ( although the pool certainly helped). I know that Alessandro indicated they will be installing air conditioners for 2024 so that should address the issue. Otherwise we loved our vacation.

Beautiful setting, excellent hosts.

Alessandro and Angela were delightful hosts, always ready to help out, make suggestions, sort out little problems. They invited us to share an aperitif with other guests, with delicious local specialities and wine, and Alessandro booked us into a wine-tasting evening at his nephew's place just down the road, another excellent evening. The pool was just as wonderful as it looks, with the added fascination of bees doing backstroke! (Never felt at any risk from them, however.) This is a lovely place to relax with a book as well as an extremely good base to explore near and far. Crespellano has a regular railway service to Bologna, which in turn is a hub for most of Northen Italy, so you don't have to drive through unfamiliar cities when you decide to venture from Burgo de Ulive. It's very peaceful, even though the road runs nearby, as everything faces away from the road and towards a charming view. The apartment was clean and well-equipped, though a microwave or oven might have been useful. We had an excellent time and would like to thank our hosts for all their help.

Hi Gill, you and Dave have been wonderful guest for Angela and me and we are pleased that have enjoyed your stay at Borgo degli Ulivi. Unfortunately this year there were working about a new ring around Bazzano and Crespellano with many road closed; so our small road, usually deserted, had been crowded . Thanks for your suggestion, we have already put a microwave in the apt. You will always be welcome at Borgo degli Ulivi, there are a lot of wines to be ..tasted! Best regards

Nice property near Bologna with Italian hospitality and great pool

We selected this apartment because of the beautiful pool with great view and to be near Bologna. And that was just like we hoped it to be. We were perfectly welcomed by Alessandro’s son Gregorio. And met Alessandro the next day. He was a perfect host to us. We loved to play with the dog Novi, who was excited to play with the ball in the beautiful Olive Garden. We went to a few very good restaurants in the neighborhood (Trattorio del Borgo Monteveglio and La Casola) and visited Bologna several times. Be careful where you drive with your car, do not enter the ZTL, because you have to pay a fine. The few things we were less positive about are: the WiFi was not everywhere so strong, there was no couch, we knew that, but missed it a bit, and we wanted a bit more fresh air in the second room. From this room you have to go to the other room to the bathroom. It was very nice to have the screens against insects before every window, because there were many mosquitoes when we were there. The infinity pool was very large and we enjoyed it very much! We loved the quietness of the place, yet still close to Bologna. Thank you very much for taking good care of us.

Lovely setting, friendly hosts

Borgo degli Ulivi is an enclosed hilltop residence in a setting of olive trees, vineyards and woodland, a tranquil retreat from which to explore surrounding villages and the splendorous city of Bologna - home to many treasures including "the oldest university in continuous operation in the world" (Wiki). The "Borgo" rests above the township of Crespellano, which offers supermarkets, chemists and other services. Many will know of Parma ham and Parmigiano cheese, and be aware of the ancient vinticultural heritage of Emilia Romagna, but I don't think we had understood how fundamental a role food and wine have in this region. Visting restaurants in the environs of Crespellano is a highly recommendable way of enjoying this deep-rooted and bounteous tradition. The most participatory of our culinary experiences was a visit by sisters Monika and Barbara to teach us how to make pasta with basic ingredients and rolling pins - a great learning experience not only in pasta production, our teachers being highly knowledgeable in all aspects of regional food culture. Our hosts, Alessandro and Angela and their two sons, Francesco and Giorgio, were very friendly and ready to offer advice. The pool has a fantastic view and is a great place to relax. One easily solvable quibble in my glowing account is that a more accurate description of just one feature of the smaller of the two flats would have been appreciated. Its two bedrooms connect, one only reachable by passing through the other.

Superbe piscine en Emilie Romagne

L'hébergement est bien placé, entre Bologne et Modène, permettant de rejoindre rapidement différents sites d'intérêt. La piscine est superbe, grande et avec une vue magnifique sur la campagne environnante. Notre hôte a été sympathique et particulièrement réactif dès que nous avons pu avoir besoin de quelque chose.

très agréable

Nous avons passé une semaine très agréable cet été! L'atout majeur était la grande piscine qui a permis de se rafraichir!! Le logement était agréable, et propre; mais pas de coin salon. Un peu sombre mais finalement cela a permis de ne pas avoir trop chaud!! Accueil sympathique par Allessandro.

Bel endroit bien situé et confortable

Nous avons été chaleureusement accueillis par Alessandro et Angela et avons passé d'agréables et reposantes vacances dans leur gîte fonctionnel et confortable. Le Wi-Fi offre un débit raisonnable mais est parfois un peu capricieux. Les 2 gîtes proposés (4 et 7 personnes) sont intelligemment disposés pour que chaque famille préserve son intimité. Nous avons disposé d'une place de parking propre et protégée par un portail automatique, très rassurant. Pas de corvée de ménage en partant, c'est appréciable. Prévenir les propriétaires lorsque l'on souhaite laver le linge, car les machines se trouvent dans leur sous-sol privé. La grande piscine à débordement est superbe, bien aménagée et équipée d'accessoires et jeux pour bien s'amuser, et il y a un cabinet de toilettes extérieur ! La vue est très jolie, sans vis-à-vis. L'emplacement est idéal pour visiter Bologne, Modena, Ravenna, Ferrare et les petits villages voisins, l'accès est rapide en voiture.

Angela et moi sommes très heureux que vous soyez bien aux Borgo degli Ulivi . Nous sommes désolés pour les problèmes liés à la connexion Internet, mais pendant l'orage, une foudre arrête la ligne téléphonique et nous avons dû attendre l'intervention télécom pour la réinitialisation.
