Bustling with bars, restaurants and great shopping as well as lots of tourist attractions including The Theatre By The Lake offering award winning arts and drama in an enviable position on the shores of Derwent water. Visit the Derwent Pencil museum, home to the world’s largest pencil or if you fancy something slightly different, check out Puzzling Place, a museum full of mind-bending optical illusions. Cyclists, walkers and climbers will love the freedom of the iconic Lakeland Fells nearby. The area has many walking routes taking in much of the picturesque scenery. However, if you’re looking for a bigger challenge, Keswick and Derwent Water is a great starting point for many of Wainwrights 214 Lakeland Fells including Latrigg and Catbells.
