Un gîte sur le champ de bataille de Warteloo, imaginez-vous dormir en plein coeur de l'histoire.

Le gîte de la ferme d’Hougoumont est un confortable appartement en duplex.

Il est confortablement meublé et décoré dans un style anglais où tout est là pour vous rappeler l’histoire des lieux.

Situé au milieu du champ de bataille de l’époque, et sans aucun voisinage proche, votre séjour se fera sous les meilleurs hospices.

La ferme d’Hougoumont est située sur la commune de Braine-l’Alleud, en région Wallonne, en Belgique, elle se dresse en plein milieu de ce qui fût le champ de la bataille de Waterloo, dernier combat de l’Empereur Napoléon 1er.

Elle est ouverte aux visiteurs et abrite un gîte de capacité de 4 à 5 couchages.

Le gîte de la ferme d'Hougoumont est l'endroit idéal où loger pour découvrir l'histoire de la bataille de Waterloo. Vous pourrez rayonner aux alentours et visiter tous les sites historiques des environs.

C'est pour vous une occasion unique de passer la nuit en plein milieu du champ de la dernière bataille de Napoléon. Il comprend 2 chambres (4/5 couchages), une salle à manger – salon, une cuisine équipée, une salle de douche et des toilettes séparées.

Depuis le printemps 2020, une ferme pédagogique y est également installée.

Un message contenant les instructions relatives à l'arrivée et au départ vous sera envoyé par l'hôte quelques jours avant votre arrivée.

The entire experience and spending a night at Hougoumont was unbelievable. It was fantastic.

The farmhouse was amazing. To have the entire house to yourself was a real experience of a lifetime. Being able to go out in the courtyard and/or walk to the museum and restaurant was a bonus. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Cedric. We booked and travelled from Australia and would recommend the experience to everyone. It is a must.

This is the only place to stay for a Waterloo battlefield tour.

The location is everything. There are restaurants near by, but we elected for self-catering, which gave us more freedom and time to investigate the locations associated with the Waterloo campaign.

A unique and peaceful place. The historic and military significance is immense. If you want to get the most from your visit or if you only intend to visit once please stay here. In the evening when the sightseers have gone it is amazing to take the 10 minute walk up to the allied lines and watch the sun go down over the battlefield. We were there on 18th June and we will never forget. The farm has been tastefully renovated and the apartment is in the gardeners house(read the history before you go) The view is of the chapel and the North Gate. Unlike the museum and the panorama this is not all about Napoleon it’s the most authentic part of the domain.The apartment has both modern utilities and historic detailing.The staff were amazing and there is a little tea shop open next door at weekends. The car park is free and just outside the South Gate. The presentation in the large barn and the small museum are far more interesting and tasteful than those on the main site.Very clean and quiet ( unless you go on a re enactment weekend! ) not suitable for small children or the infirm due to steep stairs.

Lovely venue.

Fabulous place to stay in the midst of a very historic site. Quiet once all the visitors are gone except for the occasional camper. Comfortable beds/mattresses Kitchen reasonably equipped with fabulous cookware. All very clean and tidy. Wonderful restaurant available walking distance away 10 minutes thru footpaths in fields. EV charging points also available in same town.

A comfortable though quirky gite in a very historic setting.

We specifically booked the Hougoumont gite because of the building's involvement in the Battle of Waterloo and we stayed there over the anniversary of the battle so to have the place to ourselves after closing time was, because of my life-long interest in the Napoleonic era, a very special experience.

Well, what not to like ? You have the location, the ability to enjoy the farm outside of visitors access. Lot of space, complete kitchen, great beds, atmosphere... Just wonderfull. On site staff service is limited but that goes with the territory.

Historically amazing and very private

The location and apartment has an unbelievable significance to the history of the Battle of Waterloo. Anyone who is a history buff would be thrilled to be able to stay there and surround themselves in this location. Beautifully staged, very quiet and comfy to relax and visit.

Staying at Hougoumont was a long held ambition four our group and it was not a disappointment. The accommodation was a perfect base for a full tour of the Waterloo battlefield. For us being able to stay in such a historic setting was an honour. I would highly recommend it.

History Alive!

Fabulous place to stay in Waterloo (near Brussels) with east access to the highway. The house is an updated (read completely modern) apartment on the original farm from the battle of Waterloo. A short walk to the Lion and museum, beautiful sunrises and sets over fields. The apartment was perfect for a family of 5! Thank you for a memorable stay! Great place to come home to and unwind after visiting the sights of Belgium.

Interesting stay in atmospheric surroundings.

Comfortable and peaceful apartment looking both into the courtyard and over the front of the farm, where much of the fighting occurred. Numerous books are provided to encourage a greater understanding of events. Freedom to roam the grounds, especially once the small museum had closed for the day, was most appreciated. Good views across the area and and an easy walk to the excellent main museum started to give an understanding of the geography of the battlefield. Easy drive to other museums.
