From the minute we walked in we knew we had chosen somewhere very special! The house is in such a stunning setting, with wonderful changing views. The rooms are all very generously sized, homely and cosy. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend !!!!

We stayed for a week as part of our tour of the NC500, and couldn’t have picked a better place to stay.Plenty of space, fully equipped home, close to local attractions, Durness Beach, Smoo Cave. Well stocked Spar and petrol station opposite.Cheese & Toasted is a must if been on the beach.

We loved it, everything was perfect. One of the best houses we have ever booked. Even in Durness there is enough to see for a week. There are so many nice walks and beaches. We had the luck, we only had good weather and blue sky. But even if the weather would be bad, you really enjoy relaxing in the house for the day.

Our last week at Sarsgrum House was the highlight of the best holiday we have ever had. The setting is simply extraordinary — huge windows looking straight out over the Kyle of Durness, so you watch the tide come and go over breakfast, and you are woken by nothing louder than the sheep outside. Everything was spotless on arrival, and the house matched its description exactly — if anything it exceeded it. It is wonderfully comfortable in any weather, which matters in this part of Scotland: warm, very good beds and excellent showers, neither of which can be taken for granted up here. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped for self-catering, and there is both a washing machine and a tumble dryer — a real luxury after two weeks on the road. The Spar in Durness has generous opening hours, so stocking up is easy; we picked up our drinking water there as well. Gillie and Jil were exceptionally helpful throughout, quick to respond and full of good local advice. A perfect base for Cape Wrath, Smoo Cave and Balnakeil. We would come back tomorrow.

Thank you for your lovely honest review of Sarsgrum. I can see that our house really made your holiday very special as you have obviously travelled a lot. We do always make sure our houses are exceptionally clean and as you say we try to provide all the extra things that make a stay worthwhile. Glad you found the beds so comfy and the showers had good pressure. Yes the view from the back of the house onto the Kyle really is exceptional and never fails to delight whatever the weather. Everything about Sarsgrum was superb--easy check in, lovely house well furnished, and spectacular views. We stayed over in January just after a big snow, and the landscape was stunning. At night, the stars were also amazing. Durness is a perfect place for a get away, and Sarsgrum provided a comfortable and easy location. Gillie and Lin were wonderful hosts.

Well it couldn’t have been a week with more extremes, and certainly challenging enough just getting there. Anniversary Trip

The perfect retreat! An exceedingly comfortable house from which to observe the changes of the Kyle.Durness is a good base for exploring the far north west.

Wonderful holiday

Our 3rd stay at Sarsgrum and hopefully not our last. A proper home from home with everything you could need. Great weather, superb walks, wonderful beaches and our favourite, stags nearby in the evenings.

Somehow you always manage to pick exactly the right time to come and stay at Sarsgrum! I know it does get under your skin and that ever changing view never fails to restore you. So glad you enjoyed the walks and those gorgeous beaches . The weather can make all the difference. I am sure the stags are enjoying all that grass in the field next door too.
