Good morning Nikki, Thank you very much for the excellent review. I'm also very pleased that, despite the initial misunderstanding due to not having carefully read the welcome documents, we were able to find an excellent solution by talking things through constructively. As I mentioned to you, I’ve tried to organize the rental process in a very detailed and accurate way so that I can manage this second job by offering good hospitality quality while minimizing my operational involvement. Sometimes there are guests who, perhaps out of ignorance, arrive solely focused on enjoying their vacation, without much respect or awareness of how much work it takes to manage three short-term rental apartments while maintaining high quality standards. I wish your wonderful big family a continued lovely holiday in Italy and I hope to host you again in the future on Lake Como. Warm regards, Paolo

Beautiful view on the lake from the nice garden

We (family with two kids) had a very nice time in Le Tartarughe. The flat is nice and the view to the lake from the garden is very beautiful. Every day we had our breakfast on the terrace.

Beautiful view and large garden

We stayed for a week in july, 7 persons and a dog. The house is located next to the forrest on the mountain, with a beautiful veiw. It is clean and well equiped with a nice, big garden, perfect for children and dogs. A great base for a week to explore the Como- area.

We are very grateful to Paolo for his fantastic hospitality! We had an amazing view of Lake Como from the garden! The kids enjoyed the Waterfall which provided a refreshing dip after a very hot day! Overall a wonderful experience and delightful stay in Como

Home with a view

The appartment is very spacy, clean, well equipped and also very cosy. Due to the wooden blinds and the stone floor the appart was still cool while outside temperatures of 32 degrees and hence very suitable for dogs. The garden is also very large and has a magnificent view on the lake and mountains.

We loved it!

We were very excited to find such a gem for such a price and when we got there it was even better than expected! The view is incredible. The place was clean and warm and had everything we needed. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful and fun. Our three kids and our dog had many adventures on the large property. There are many hikes in the area. Check in and out was easy. We are definitely going back!

Beautiful quiet spot and marvellous view

Paolo created a wonderful hideout in Montemezzo! The apartment is located in a very quiet area without traffic noise. The view on the lake and the valley is wonderful. The apartment itself has evereything you need for a relaxing vacation, inlcuding a good kitchen equipment, large fridge and wifi. Paolo is a wonderful host who is very helpful and did everything to make our stay pleasant and comfortable (for instance: he arranged bow and arrows for the kids, brought an air conditioner). When I called him at some point to ask something bout the aprtment he specially came over to ask whether everything was to our liking. We had very nice conversations with him and particulary liked the story about how he created the house. We had a lovely time and surely will return some time!

Stunning Views - Maybe too quiet for some.

Stunning views, nice and quiet. That said, if you don’t like driving up mountain roads then this is not for you. Not much in the local village of Selva so you have to go down to the lakeside to find shops etc. Nearest big supermarket is in nearby Colico. Nearest beach is in Domaso but the beach at Piona in Colico is much nicer for swimming. Main issue is that because you are up in the woods there are a lot of insects. Unfortunately the place has no fly screens or net curtains so you have to close the shutters and the place gets very hot at night. The pools/waterfalls shown nearby are about 400m away. - not really deep enough for swimming but good fora dip.. That said worth a visit. However, the “lower” path which leads to the best pools is a bit more of a trek as the path is quite overgrown and you will have to scramble down some banks. There are markers on trees to help as the instructions provided are not great. Not for those with mobility problems. The Upper path is quite steep but easier to navigate - but the pools aren;t as big.

what a nightmare! Do not stay here!

Our first 36 hours were great. Then there was a forest fire in the next village. The air filled with huge plumes of smoke which surrounded the house. It was impossible to stay and it felt unsafe. We left with the renters from the next door apt as none of us felt confident that the house would not go up in flames. The house is the last building of the village surrounded by forest. Very beautiful but in a fire situation it would be the first property to burn. We found a hotel for the night across the lake and watched as multiple fires on several of the hillsides spread. The fire near our house continued to spread throughout the night into a huge U above the village. In the early hours a tongue of fire worked its way down towards the apt. It was put out at 9 am the following morning and had stopped 400 metres from the house in a ravine. I asked the owner if he would refund us as we did not want to go back, I asked for a refund of the night we could not stay. He agreed to neither because the young men who rented next door returned to their apt to have a party. Four days later there were more forest fires and the sky again filled with billowing smoke. The apt was nice but unfortunately was linked via a closed door to another apt belonging to the same owner. There were 6 young men renting next door and they spent the week taking drugs (weed), drinking and playing loud music. We couldn't use the main bedroom because of the smell of weed (under the door) and loud music blaring through the night. My 4 children slept on the floor of the sitting-room for the week. The view from the apt is amazing but because it is very windy the wooden shutters had to remain closed the entire time, so no natural light or view! We went out everyday until after dark.

I am sorry that you weren't satisfied like most of my guests. Regarding your opinion that communicating with the owner was not very fluid and that the check in procedures are noisy, please consider that I have made some effort to prepare a welcome document and organize the check-in procedures to favor guests and to manage this activity with maximum efficiency. In your case, I had to request several times both the sending of the documentation for the police and the information relating to the meters. You called and messaged me several times from diffent mobiles numbers asking information already well explained in the welcome pack and causing a real confusion about which apartment you were speaking about. If all customers were to act in this way, managing a rental business would become very difficult. Renting a house requires seriousness on the part of the owner, but also on the part of those who rent it. Finally, please be so kind as to indicate where the whirlpool has been advertised because it appears to me that I have only indicated the bathroom fixtures in the description of the bathroom and in the case you are right I would like to fix it as soon as possible. My best regards. Paolo Zaza
