This picturesque detached property is situated on the edge of Wittersham village, next-door to Stocks Windmill. This cosy cottage is perfect for a family or group of 4 people, with a private drive, 2 bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin), upstairs lounge and kitchen with views of the windmill and a large garden perfect for relaxing, and entertaining. Just a short drive, in either direction are the medieval Cinque Port towns of Tenterden and Rye, as well as Camber Sands 3 mile beach and Winchelsea beach. We are spoilt with castles, such as Bodiam, Leeds and Sissinghurst, to name a few. You'll have no shortage of country walks and activities such as paddle boarding at Bodiam, cycling at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. Not to mention long list of gastro pubs, restaurants and cafes in the area.
THE PROPERTY Windmill Cottage is a beautiful airy property with 2 large bay windows in the upstairs lounge overlooking the surrounding countryside and Stocks Windmill next door.
INSIDE On the ground floor you'll find a large inside porch area which houses a washing machine and dryer and the entrance door to the property.
HALLWAY The spacious hallway has a Victorian fireplace and downstairs toilet, a corridor branches off to the 2 bedrooms and main bathroom.
Stairs lead off the hallway up to the lounge and kitchen area.
SLEEPING (Ground Floor) 2 bedrooms are arranged on the ground floor, one containing twin beds (2 single beds) and another with a double bed.
The bedding is sumptuous with feather down pillows and Egyptian cotton bed linen with throws for extra warmth. Each room has bedside tables, lamps and a chest of drawers.
A wardrobe space outside the bedrooms provides additional shelving and hanging space with hangers provided.
BATHROOM The bathroom is equipped with a bath, shower, sink and toilet facilities. Toilet rolls, hand soap, bath and hand towels are provided.
TOILET In the hallway is an extra toilet with sink. Toilet rolls, hand soap and hand towels are provided.
LOUNGE (First Floor) The stairs lead on up to the lounge, an airy light room with 3 large windows, 2 are beautiful bay windows with leafy views in 3 directions including over Stocks Windmill. The room has wooden floors, a wood burner, sofa and 2 easy chairs, a desk and chair for working from remotely as well as a dining table and chairs set in a picturesque bay window. Facilities include: Smart TV, Wifi and a portable bluetooth Bose speaker.
Wood, kindling, matches and fire lighters for the wood burner are provided (enough for 1 fire).
There is a wicker basket full of wooden toys for infants and toddlers. And a tall boy with adult and childrens books, dvd's and a draw of pens, pencils and colouring books.
KITCHEN (First floor) The kitchen steps down off the lounge with a central breakfast bar and French doors leading onto a small balcony overlooking your private garden. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, oven/hob, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, cafetière, good quality utensils, cutlery, crockery and glassware. Tea towels, washing up liquid and cleaning products are provided.
Other provisions provided: Tea bags, instant, coffee, ground coffee for the cafetiere, sugar, salt, pepper and oil. Dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, hand soap and cleaning products.
OUTSIDE The driveway is accessed from Stocks Road and sweeps round to the rear of the building with space for 2 cars. Good-sized, landscaped rear garden featuring a gravelled patio area with table and 6 chairs and seat covers, perfect for dining and relaxing in the daytime or evenings.
Good quality Wi-Fi throughout.
CHILDREN/BABIES Travel cot, stair gate, children's crockery and cutlery are available. As well as a large basket of infant toys and books.
Cleaning products, vacuum, broom, ironing board & iron are provided.
ON ARRIVAL A welcome hamper of locally sourced products are presented on arrival, such as crisps, artisan bread, milk and butter.
Guests are kindly reminded that as this is a self-catering accommodation to be prepared to stock up during their stay. There is a village shop and in Tenterden a Tesco and Waitrose which is a 10mins drive away.
