Frenchman's Creek, immortalised by Daphne du Maurier, is just a short stroll away. An annual regatta is held at the Helford River Sailing Club in August. In the summer, a passenger ferry travels to Helford Passage, where the Ferryboat Inn is located, as well as close by to the Trebah and Glendurgan gardens. The Helford River is home to a variety of animals and is a haven for birdwatchers.
