Regarding the air conditioning: this summer's heatwaves across Europe have been unprecedented, and we recognize that comfort has been a real challenge for guests as a result. That said, we're genuinely torn on this point. Installing air conditioning feels at odds with our own concerns about the climate crisis. It's a significant contributor to the very problem driving these extreme temperatures, and we're reluctant to add to it without careful thought. We're weighing this seriously: whether more sustainable cooling alternatives exist, whether these heatwaves will become a regular feature of Lake Como summers rather than an exception, and how to balance guest comfort with our own values on this. It's an ongoing dilemma for us, and feedback like yours genuinely factors into that thinking. As for the electrical issue following the thunderstorm, this was actually totally unrelated to our apartment and has since been fully resolved. We hope to welcome you back to Casa Oliva in the future!

Thank you so much for your review. We're so glad you enjoyed the property and the lake view from the balcony! We're sorry for the inconvenience with parking. Our own garage at the property was unfortunately damaged, and the building manager has been slow in organizing the repair works, which has meant guests needing to use public parking nearby in the meantime. We're confident the garage will be back in service for the 2027 season. We're not familiar with the specific parking deck you mention getting locked into, but please know our number is available to guests at any time. We're always happy to help if something like that comes up during a stay. We hope to welcome you back once the garage is up and running again.

With regards to parking, a solution to avoid the situation in Varenna, is to drive to Bellano and take the boat from there. This allows you to avoid the queues at Varenna's port and the difficulty related to parking, which has been exacerbated this year by the works on the railway in preparation for the Winter Olympics. Having said that, the area of the underground parking will undergo some works this autumn and will be available to guests as of next year. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future. Mary

We're surprised by this score, as no comments were left to explain it, which makes it hard to know what specifically felt lacking. We're aware you had some concerns about noise from external works near our building during part of your stay. This was entirely outside our control, and unfortunately we weren't informed until just before your departure, which meant we had no opportunity to address it during your stay. No other guests have raised this as an issue. We went out of our way to accommodate your needs, including providing a separate space for your camper van at no extra charge, and you noted yourself in your own message that you found the flat "lovely." Beyond the noise, we're unclear on what else may have factored into the score. We always take feedback seriously and look for ways to improve.
