Palm Cottage, established by Kennet Serviced Apartments, is our beautiful holiday bungalow! The property boasts a spacious open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, 3-super king bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, suitable for children & adults and 2 bathrooms with power showers and a bathtub.

Externally the property offers gorgeous grounds - large garden and terrace for relaxing on those warmer days and even a cinema room, fitted with HDTV, comfortable reclining seating for those cooler evenings and family time! There is also plenty of parking at the front of the property.

Each bedroom offers comfortable beds, all linen and towels and ample storage.

The kitchen boasts built-in appliances, such as an oven, fridge/freezer, microwave as well as a toaster and kettle, washing machine and dishwasher.

Palm Cottage is conveniently located in a residential area, directly opposite the beautiful grounds of the University of Reading. There are nearby restaurants, shops and amenities. Reading Town Centre is a short bus journey away with the nearest bus stop being directly opposite the property.

Our second stay in perfect accommodation for a family get together.

Every family member (three generations) thoroughly enjoyed their stay at Palm Cottage. Most of the time was spent socialising in the large open plan kitchen, dining and living area. A very well equipped property with well stocked coffee and tea caddies, biscuits and a selection of cereals. The younger members of the family enjoyed the cinema room with the bonus treats. We would definitely book again, and would recommend to others.

Terrible communication

We used VRBO to book this reservationWe sent several request upon check-inAs we noticed, they were only six rolls of toilet paper for four bedrooms and worst of all they were only seven towels for seven adult adultsSent so many messages for someone to call us and no response. We had to go out and buy toilet paper towel, paper, dishwasher liquid and bath towel towels.We finally received a phone call from the property manager, apologizing for the lack of response as they are new to VRBO system. The property manager was very nice apologetic, but he did not offer any money whatsoever for all our purchases. What he offered was if my family goes back to England he will give me 50% off the first night. I thought he was joking, but unfortunately He was serious.The property manager went on explaining that in England is normal to have one bath towel per guest up to one week also he explained that it’s not like an Hotel we don’t provide more toilet paper or paper towel or any liquid soap to wash dishes. I don’t believe that’s a standard in England maybe this but it’s very strange.I like to say the house is very easy to navigate us as a large kitchen and a large living room area so the family can gather around. It was clean, beautiful backyard and easy drive to downtown.The other negative was there is only two bathrooms for four bedroom house although we knew that was the case and we booked it anyway because he was the largest house available at the time. OK

Thank you for your feedback. Apologies if you felt communication was poor. We only received one message via Vrbo and provide many alternative communication methods to get in touch should you have any issues during your stay, however we did not receive any correspondence. As it is a self catered apartment, guests are welcome to use the washing machine and tumble dryer and complimentary washing machine tablets provided. The toilet paper provided is equivalent to the number of bathrooms in the property and there is dish washing liquid provided in the soap dispenser next to the sink, alongside dishwasher tablets & cleaning products. In future, I’d recommend booking a hotel for on hand services from staff if that is what is required.
