Bungalow Doris is beautifully situated on the green edge of the vacation park the Kremmer.

Doris in Drenthe is… A daytime bike ride together through the woods and along the lake (anyone up for a refreshing dip?) followed by a delicious dinner at Grand Café de Kremmer and a lively game of “Hitster,” and then unwinding in your own hot tub in the evening. 

The cottageWith its vintage, nostalgic atmosphere, Doris immediately feels warm and welcoming the moment you walk in. At the same time, you’ll want for nothing in terms of comfort. 

The living area features a three-seater sofa, a loveseat, a TV, and a decorative fireplace. The kitchen adjoins the living room, so even when you’re cooking, you won’t miss out on the fun. Want to get away for a bit? Grab a book from the bookshelf and head to the spacious bedroom with a box-spring bed to recharge. The other bedroom has a bunk bed, and everything has been thought of—both beds have their own light and outlet. No more arguments over whose phone gets charged first (“I’m at 24%,” “I’m down to 8%!”). 

Oh, and the kitchen? It’s fully equipped: an induction cooktop, dishwasher, freezer, Nespresso coffee maker, and milk frother (so you can even make a delicious oat cappuccino right here in Drenthe). 

The bathroom is spacious and charming thanks to its wooden accents and retro tiles.

Although the cottage is surrounded by greenery, the large windows let in plenty of light. The large garden offers plenty of space for a picnic or a game of soccer, for example. Rain or shine, the covered patio ensures that you can always enjoy the fresh Drenthe air.

Bringing the kids along? Chances are you’ll lose track of them half the time, because with an air trampoline, playground equipment, ping-pong tables, bocce, and a water playground within walking distance, they’ll have better things to do than sit with their parents. And that’s just fine, because then you’ll have the hot tub all to yourself. For the little ones, there are games and arts-and-crafts supplies available, which saves space in the roof rack. And thanks to the fenced-in yard, even parents of young children can truly unwind. 

Or maybe you’re in the mood for a solo trip where you can finally get around to reading that one book, grab a pizza from the 24/7 pizza vending machine (yes, it really exists), and then plop down on the couch and never get up again (including binge-watching your guilty-pleasure series). Wake up to the chirping of birds and clear your head during a run around ‘t Nije Hemelriekje. You can already picture it, can’t you?

Doris in Drenthe offers it all. 

So you don’t really have to leave Doris, but if you do feel like exploring more, Drenthe has plenty of wonderful things to offer. We already mentioned ‘t Nije Hemelriekje—did you know it’s known as the “Ibiza of the North”? In just ten minutes, you can walk through the treetops on the Boomkroonpad. You can even take a trip around the world in a single day, since Wildlands is about 20 minutes away from Doris. The zoo is home to more than 250 animal species and is definitely a must-visit with kids. There are plenty of other fun activities that Drenthe has to offer as well.
