While the apartment was clean and the furnishings were in good condition, there were many individual things wrong: missing electric fans contrary to what was promised (during a blistering heatwave), electrical outlet hanging out of the wall, very messy front closet, deceptive step-down that warranted a safety marking, broken lamp, loose faucet and malfunctioning drain, no way of reaching skylights, oven out of reach, missing dishcloth or sponge. The instructions for arrival and departure were quite authoritarian as though the landlords were doing everything correctly, and they needed to tell us, in a very strict tone, exactly what we needed to do, with the threat of financial consequences if we didn't comply precisely on time (which we did). They insisted for security reasons that only one key could be provided for two guests, which was going to create a security risk for us. (Then, it seems, someone must have dropped a second key in without telling us or every admitting it.)Their written communication was incredibly quick, courteous, and comprehensive--to the point that I felt I was communicating with an AI bot. A great deal of empathy and several apologies were expressed, but almost nothing was done during the stay about our complaints. We left the apartment impeccable, and, 15 days later, we haven't received the 400 security deposit back yet.
