The Space:

Cookswood is an exclusive gated estate set in the heart of the Somerset countryside, surrounded by ancient woodlands. This bespoke holiday home is both elegant and luxurious offering a haven for those seeking the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure and timeless luxury. This peaceful retreat enables you to embrace wellness and outdoor living with unspoilt nature right on your doorstep.

As you enter the Cookswood estate, passing the main reception building on your left, you will make your way along the sweeping driveway. Driving at the house, you will find parking here for 2 cars (with EV charger) and another 2 back at the reception building.



Entering the property, you are welcomed by a light, bright open plan living area with a fully equipped kitchen with spacious central island. Equipped with oven, microwave, induction hob, fridge/freezer, Nespresso coffee machine and juicer, there is bar seating for 6 as well as a large dining table seating 10.



The living area comprises of a comfy sofa that conveniently folds out into a double sofa bed, relaxing chairs, and large smart TV. The popular and well loved foosball table sits proudly in the centre of the room and is definitely a highlight and endless source of entertainment for all! This room is the perfect space for socialising where everyone can gather together as well as being able to have your own space. The room extends to sweeping sliding glass doors that seamlessly join the inside with the outside patio area that boasts dining for 10, pizza oven, the fire pit with relaxed garden seating area.



In a separate room adjoining the kitchen you will find the home gym complete with running and rowing machines, weights and smart TV, leading through to the downstairs bathroom comprising of walk in shower, WC and basin. Aside from this you will also find a utility room with separate sink, washing machine and tumble dryer which leads directly outside to the Hot Tub area where you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding countryside.



Heading upstairs you will find the master bedroom with kingsize bed, wardrobe space, smart TV with direct access to the balcony area with teak sofa and chairs. The perfect place to enjoy morning coffee in the sunshine. The ensuite bathroom features a large, luxurious bathtub as well as a walk in shower, WC and basin. Bedroom 2, featuring a comfortable double bed, also has direct access to the balcony. This room also features clothes storage and occasional chair. Bedroom 3 also features a comfortable double bed, hanging space and large floor to ceiling sliding doors. Leading directly through to an ensuite bathroom with walk in shower, basin and WC. Bedroom 4 offers two single beds and an ensuite bathroom with walk in shower, basin and WC. There is also a family bathroom upstairs where you can find a bath tub with shower over, WC and basin.



With underfloor heating throughout, everything detail in this beautiful house really been thought about and we hope that it will make for the perfect stay!



Guests staying at the property also have access to the Cookswood Estate Mineral Lake, which is fed by natural local spring water. During the summer months, the water takes on a beautiful turquoise hue, creating a peaceful and rejuvenating setting. The lake is perfect for wild swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy nature in a private and tranquil environment.

Please note that the lake is owned, managed, and operated by Cookswood Estate, and we have no control over its operation or maintenance. Safety rules must be followed at all times when using the lake. These will be available within the property and in the guest house guide.



We love dogs here at Silver Birches but we ask that they are kept downstairs and off the furniture - thank you - charges will apply.



Guest Access:

Guests have exclusive access to the house throughout their stay.

The Stag cafe located on the Cookswood estate serves light bites and is open daily.

The Neighborhood:

Silver Birches is nestled deep in the Somerset countryside. Perched on the shores of this unique mineral lake there is plenty to see and do. From wild, cold water swimming to long walks in the woods, you really can escape the pressures of everyday life. With Holcombe Farm shop and Cafe just a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk, you can pick up supplies and also stay for breakfast, lunch or dinner! Why not venture to the near by historic market towns of Wells with the famous Wells Cathedral or Frome with its abundance of independent shops and cafes. The world heritage city of Bath is only a 30 minute drive where you can experience Georgian grandure with the world famous Abbey, Roman Baths as well as the Thermae Spa. Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge are a short drive and well worth a visit. There really is plenty to see and do for everyone!



Getting Around:

Approximately 3 minutes drive from the nearest village of Stoke St Michael, you can find a local convenience store and local bus services to Wells and Bath. The nearest train stations are Castle Cary or Bath Spa (both approximately 30 minutes drive) both with direct links to London and Bristol. For those arriving by air, Bristol Airport (BRS) is approximately a 40-minute drive away.
