This is a lovely home in a very convenient location. The street is very quiet, the beds are comfortable and the inner garden is beautiful and peaceful.

This is my second stay at this lovely property, with it's a delightful combination of modern and historic features. This property is wonderful for large groups, with both gathering spaces and privacy for quiet time.

Wonderful house, wonderful hosts.

As advertised, 5 separate sleeping spaces, excellent kitchen, great location to use as a home base for exploring Kyoto and surroundings. Hosts are super helpful with suggestions and always available to answer questions. Great choice for families/groups!

Prime Kyoto location

Everything about our stay in Kyoto was wonderful. The house has surprisingly excellent sound dampening- even though there were 11 of us, we had all of the privacy as well as community time that we needed. The location was close to the Market, the palace and Nijo castle. It was also perfectly located to catch the subway. I would stay here again and again.

S Tier Rental in Kyoto

We had a group of 7 stay here while in Kyoto and it was the best rental I've ever stayed at. It was immaculate, spacious, comfy, and fit the Kyoto aesthetic. The host's restaurant recommendations from his guide book were all fantastic. You are very close to key locations in Kyoto as well. I cannot recommend this place enough, book it before it's reserved!

Perfect multi-generational house option

Stayed there with a 3 year old, 2 parents and 3 grandparents. We had the 3 grandparents downstairs and the parents and kid upstairs. It was perfect. Beautiful house, great location, very responsive and helpful host. It’s a gem.

Fantastic Accommodations

We were 2 families (group of 8). The house was perfect for us. The space extremely clean and well appointed. The rooms cozy and warm for our January trip. The washer/dryer combo on each floor was so amazing with such a large group. Our hosts were friendly and always accessible. They went above and beyond what we would have expected. The location was pretty central with the subway an easy 7 minutes away. Great restaurants and bakeries nearby was also a plus. We felt incredibly lucky to find this special place. We look forward to our next trip to Kyoto and will immediately try and book this property.

Perfect Kyoto House

Our extended family of 8 was delighted with this rental. The pictures don't do it justice, it was even lovelier in person. We used both the upstairs and downstairs (they are virtually the same, except the downstairs has an extra room off the small garden). Our contact with the "managers" was above and beyond, they couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, and even came to say goodbye and help us with the taxi. We loved the neighborhood (the Alpenrose Bakery, one block away, was visited daily :). It's close to the subway, lots of markets close by, and the neighborhood had many restaurants (we used Lonely Planet for help, but the book left in the house was more than complete with advice). Can't recommend this house highly enough.

We stayed with a family group of 8 ppl, 6 adults and 2 kids in both the lower and upper floor for a week. The older adults stayed in the western style bedrooms, the rest slept on the Tatami beds. There was enough space for all of us, and we used both kitchens. The upper floor has a steep staircase that is not suitable for walking impaired ppl, but downstairs worked fine for them. We stayed in hot and humid June and the AC worked great. We had a minor issue but the management was very responsive and fixed it promptly. The house is obviously old and traditional but inside has modern kitchen and bathrooms. The house is centrally located with lots of public transit around. There are many small restaurants and shops in this area, but the street the house is on is pretty quiet. We walked to several shopping areas (covered Sanjo-dori and Nishiki market, great for rainy days). Even walking over to Gion is not very far. Attractions like Nijo castle and the Imperial palace are close. There are two great bakeries around the corner that we frequented almost everyday. We also stayed 1 night in a hotel in Kyoto and preferred the house for more space and the cute neighborhood.

As this is a traditional *machiya* (townhouse), the stairs are somewhat steep, so we do not recommend them for guests with limited mobility; for such guests, we recommend staying on the ground floor. Being located in the heart of Kyoto makes it very convenient to get around to various places. We are also glad to hear that you found some favorite shops during your visit. Lovely traditional Japanese House

I was impressed by the traditional style yet accommodates American living. We could wash laundry, cook meals if we wanted. The house was centrally located. I would stay here again anytime.

I liked the typical 'eel' shape as called in Kyoto (the front side is not so wide and the house extends in length). I thought it could be so nice to preserve this townhouse and make our guests even for few days to live as Kyoto people lived for centuries with traditions plus a more today comfort in the daily house use.
