Beautiful property. Very remote but we were happy with that! The children loved the pool area. Host were very good at communicating. Really well equiped kitchen. Would highly recommend hiring a chef if you wanted a special meal instead of dining out.

Extraordinary

We were 9 family members, parents and children. The place is amazing, clean and air-conditioned rooms, fully equipped kitchen with everything needed, great pool, private access to the beach, so we used the owner's kayak and SUP. Highly recommended!!!

By the riverside

The house had all the amenities necessary for a holiday with a family of various ages, in particular teenagers. The accommodation was excellent and the layout and facilities of the house and its grounds made the best of the location. The driveway in and out could be a bit daunting for some at first. Our stay was enjoyed by all the family.

Great place IF...

In our opinion, the location of property and the amenities (swimming pool, river activities, and outdoor space) are best suited for summer months/warm weather. This is not a property for cool weather and we found it difficult to do anything else in the immediate area. The house is lovely, the grounds spectacular, and access to the river is spot on. Owner and family were very friendly and approachable.

Excellent place to chill in the summer

Nice house, the description is pretty accurate. Quite comfortable for 8 people. We stayed in the mid of summer; the pool was very warm. The river was also warm and good for swimming. The things to pay attention to: - during hot days A/C works to full capacity. - the closest store is 10-15 min away, not walkable - if you are uncomfortable driving steep up/down hill, and sharp turns, consider staying elsewhere.

Beautiful home

This is an amazing house on an amazing property. The house is well appointed and spacious. The pool is enormous, and overlooks the river. We enjoyed watching the tour boats go up and down the river, and passing the goats and chickens on the road. The host has made it very comfortable. The only downside is it is an extremely twisty and steep road down to the house. But totally worth it for the serenity upon arrival.

A unique house in a beautiful location

We had a fantastic stay. The house is spacious and well equipped, with tremendous views. The hosts were welcoming when we arrived. We loved eating under the pergola, sitting by the pool and under the trees in the hot afternoons, and paddling over to the beach in the early evening. We stocked up at local supermarkets and ate in every evening. We loved visiting Pala, Ribadouro and the Bestanca valley, the Paiva walkways and beaches.if the weather had been cooler and we had longer we would have ventured further up river but drive times are quite long- so we will have to come back!

2 dream weeks in the Douro

We enjoyed a great 2 weeks holiday in the Douro. Maria Aurestina and Manuel are very nice hosts : helpful & kind and not intrusive. Getting there feels like you are going to dive in the Douro, but then you are rewarded with the most fantastic of location. The beauty of the nature and the calm is absolutely magic. The house is beautiful, clean, very large and very well equipped. We were 5 , so at ease as it can easily accommodate for 8 or a little more. The pool is gorgeous , and the icing on the cake is the private access to the Douro with the Kayak and 2 stand up paddles which you can use. This is great for the teenagers ( and for the adults). All this with the Douro sun makes you feel at home and you don’t want to move anymore. Nevertheless, the location is fine to visit Porto, Guimaraes and Braga, and great to spend a day in the fabulous Alto Douro vineyards. We even went to Aveiro still very reachable for a fine day out. Fantastic place, we really hope to come back

Fantastic stay in the Douro valley

We spent 2 fantastic weeks in the beautiful house/ property of Maria-Aurestina and Manual. We were with 5 people so we had loads of space as the house can accommodate 8 to 19 people without problem. The house is extemely well équiped, nothing is missing, and everything in perfect state. The pool & garden are gorgeous, on the banks of the Douro. The calm is unbelievable and the nature beautiful, which really allows you to forget about everything and enjoy very relaxing holidays. This is the real differentiator with the other houses along the Douro: it has a direct access to it, and you can make use of the kayak and the 2 standup paddles available. Great for the teenagers… and for the adults. The house is also well situated to visit North Portugal main sites: Porto , Braga, Guimaraes, Aveiro and of course the beautiful Douro wineyards. And the weather was beautiful, but not too warm (between 25 and 32). And the river always brings a little bit of fresh air. And surprisingly, almost no mosquitos. Fabulous.

Tranquillité absolue

Fantastic place !

We were 2 families with a total of 4 kids and stayed at the villa for 2 weeks in August. Everything was great ! The villa is modern and well equipped. The pool was perfect. Everything is like in the pictures of the website and even better in real life. Having access to the Douro river with the kayak and the paddle boats were a plus. The kids enjoyed a lot. Celia and Manuel were great hosts. Thank you again for everything !

Dieses Haus von Maria ist ein absolutes Traumdomizil und übertrifft wirklich jede Erwartung!Die Größe des Hauses, der atemberaubende Blick direkt auf den Fluss und der herrlich große Pool machen den Aufenthalt unvergesslich. Dazu kommt, dass das ganze Haus komplett klimatisiert ist – ein wahrer Luxus mitten in der einzigartigen Natur des Douro. Ein echtes Juwel!Besonders begeistert haben uns die Extras: SUPs und sogar ein Kanu standen zur Verfügung, sodass wir den Fluss direkt vor der Haustür erkunden konnten – ein Highlight unseres Urlaubs!Das Haus selbst ist bis ins kleinste Detail perfekt ausgestattet. Die Küche ist ein echter Traum und bietet alles, was man für eine entspannte Selbstverpflegung braucht. Es hat uns an absolut nichts gefehlt.Die Zufahrtsstraße ist zwar etwas abenteuerlich, doch mit kleinen Autos und ein wenig Übung gut zu meistern – und der Ausblick und die Ruhe, die einen am Ende erwarten, machen jede Kurve mehr als wett.Alles in allem war dies für uns das perfekte Haus am perfekten Ort, um Ruhe, Erholung und Natur zu genießen.Maria ist eine wunderbare Gastgeberin – herzlich, hilfsbereit und voller Gastfreundschaft. Wir haben uns von der ersten Minute an willkommen gefühlt.Wir können dieses Haus nur wärmstens empfehlen – es ist ein Ort, an den wir mit Sicherheit zurückkehren möchten!

Excelente estadia

Estava tudo muito bem. Foi uma passagem de ano tranquila em família e com amigos com tudo o que precisámos. Já ficámos em muitas casas e nenhuma estava tão bem equipada com esta, não faltou nada.Bonita casa, confortável e com um open space no piso inferior (sala estar, sala jantar e cozinha) espetacular e que promove o convívio entre todos.O único reparo é o acesso que de facto é complicado para os automóveis devido às manobras a que obriga, mas devido à elevada inclinação do terreno não haverá muito a melhorar.

Spectacular villa on the river Douro

A beautifully situated and gloriously remote riverfront villa with direct access onto the Douro for swimming, paddle-boarding and kayaking. The house and grounds are fabulous, well maintained and equipped, incredibly spacious (the photos on the listing don’t do it justice) and the location is peaceful with spectacular views of the river and mountain side opposite. Plenty of lovely Portuguese towns, vineyards and sites of interest are within an hour’s drive of the villa. The town of Marco de Canaveses (about a 20 minute drive) has plenty of good supermarkets if you are largely self-catering. Helpful information on restaurants, wine tasting vineyards and local Boat tours is provided by the owners in the villa. The owners are very helpful and any queries before and during our stay were answered quickly.

Big house with beautiful views

The views are stunning. The pool was great with temperatures outside between 35-39 degrees. Young and old(er) enjoyed it. The location is a bit remote, so going out for dinner is a good drive away. There are several options for walks in the area, with variations in scenery.

Very nice villa!

Overall very good experience! Complicated to get there and the owner do not speak English, but they provided a translator which was super helpful! The view and the amenities are well worth it!

Semana férias com família e amigos

A casa está muito bem localizada, com acesso fácil ao rio e tem excelentes condições interiores e exteriores. Local sossegado ideal para disfrutar de uns dias de descanso e usufruir do rio. Os anfitriões são muito simpáticos e disponíveis. A Sra. da padaria que nos entregou o pequeno almoço cada manhã é também muito simpática e com enorme vontade de ajudar. Excelente experiência!
