ADU Piedmont side of Montclair

This architecturally designed ADU is located on the Piedmont side of Montclair. Conveniently located in a woodland setting, it is close to public transportation and an easy walk to Montclair Village shops, banks, and restaurants. This unique unit includes heating and air conditioning and Miele washer and dryer. The gourmet kitchen is equipped with a Bosch appliances --dishwasher, gas range, microwave, disposal, refrigerator. There is a dedicated WiFi access point in the ADU, with a Gigabit fiber Internet backbone. The Internet is high speed wired and wireless. There is no TV, but bring your own streaming device and connect to the Internet to watch your favorite TV shows and movies.

Fabulous place! Gail and Greg were welcoming, kind, and very responsive. I thoroughly enjoyed my 8-night stay in their modern ADU which is situated in the beautiful hills of Oakland's Montclair neighborhood. The ADU is generously resourced and offers a tranquil, very clean, and cozy place to land. Montclair Village (with restaurants, groceries, and shops) is only a 5-minute walk down the hill and there is easy freeway access. I would happily stay here again!

The Back Forty was perfect for our stay! Well-located, beautifully appointed. The bed was super comfortable and the hosts Greg and Gail (and Chewy) were lovely and incredibly hospitable. The check-in instructions were clear and check out was easy, too. Overall a 10/10!

Cute but not as expected.Pros:-great location, easy freeway access, walking distance to shops/restaurants, close to hiking, peaceful/quiet neighborhood-tons of natural light, plentiful soft, fluffy towels & toilet paper, kitchen w/plenty of utensils, etc-beautifully planted main backyard w/lots of flowers & birds-welcome email w/relevant info sent w/plenty of lead time, pleasant hostsCons:-info in vrbo listing, check in email, and property had multiple discrepancies.  The main issue was our key reason for booking - lack of check out requirements.  Our check in email had... check out requirements.  Two of which, taking out the trash & running the dishwasher, hadn't been done when we arrived -angle of the property photos gives the impression the yard and viewing area are more usable/private.  The living area photo makes it seem like the private back deck has a walkable yard when that space is a steep hill w/out much of a view, and for our stay, had no chairs on the back deck.  The image of the view doesn't show that it is taken from the front of the unit facing the neighbors side/backyard, eliminating the fact the view overlooks the backyard of the main house and is not private.  -lots of clothing mothsTips: -cover space under the front door w/a towel to prevent debris being blown in by landscapers-due to steep grade of driveway & limited space, if hosts cars are there, carry only one suitcase at a time up for easier maneuvering-careful w/slippery shower floor

The property was lovely. The architecture, setting, and design of the interior was tasteful,upscale, and comfortable. Our hosts were friendly and hospitable, even Chewy, their dog! The best!

Beautiful neighborhood/great location

This ADU is in the owners beautiful expansive back yard and is walking distance from Montclair village. The ADU had a great layout and felt very open and roomy. The hosts thought of everything we could have needed and more. This was probably the best vrbo/rental we have ever stayed in.

One of our favorite vacation rentals ever.

This aesthetically pleasing, contemporary design has many unique features which are delightful. Fixtures, furniture, linens, and well-stocked kitchen are high-end; the unit is bright and sunny with easy access to two outdoor spaces; the private back patio has smart shades and a large slider easily linking indoor and outdoor spaces. Despite being a studio, the bedroom area is quite private due to the clever architectural design. And the large walk-in shower is phenomenal! We would definitely stay here again!
