We will share our bounty with you in season - oranges, persimmons, figs, pomegranates and Meyer lemons! Beautiful walking area in the hills surrounding the cottage - Enjoy the quiet if you are here to work, the comfort if you are vacationing and the extra amenities. Are you a coffee lover like us? We have a full coffee bar of Mr. Coffee, French Press and Chemex with a gooseneck kettle for pour over. Fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, silverware, iron skillets, waffle maker, toaster, hand mixer, Ninja, serving dishes and more. Spice drawer with a great selection including condiments.

The hosts were so extremely thoughtful. On my arrival there was bottled water, a bottle of wine, fresh baked cookies.! they had thought of everything. The bed was delightfully, comfortable, and the surrounding gardens and windows made it a pure pleasure. I travel constantly, and I have never been in a more wonderful spot. Plus they left me coffee beans to grind with about six different ways to make the coffee were available.

The Cottage in the Garden was the perfect spot for my stay. The bed was comfortable, and the cottage had everything I needed. I truly enjoyed sitting on the back porch with my cup of coffee, while watching the beauty of nature in the backyard.Barb and Gary were the perfect hosts. All of the amenities were exceptional; from the motion-sensored light in the bathroom to the beautiful concrete counters, nothing was overlooked.I hope to stay here again next time I'm in the area! Don't miss out on this quaint oasis in the midst of suburbia.

Convenient and Comfortable

Very impressed with our stay here. The location is right off the 125 making it easy to get on the freeway. Our host was very communicative and came to greet us upon arrival. They very thoughtfully, had the place cooled, ambient music playing and refreshments/snacks on the counter making us feel very welcome. They also had a binder with several visitor pamphlets full of info along with instructions on how to operate items in the cottage, Several walking trail options, etc. The cottage was comfortable for my husband and I and our 2 kids. The extra fancy bidet with temperature control for the seat was also a nice touch. IYKYK. A full kitchen with everything you could need and a washer and dryer in the unit are super helpful on a long stay. Would definitely recommend.

Cottage Review

This property was definitely designed with relaxation in mind. The location is safe and secure and after a long road trip or whatever your travels are it feels good retreating back to this place. The place was actually larger than it looks on the photos along with the backyard which really gives the place an added comfort. Looking forward to our next visit.

The Perfect Spot

This was the perfect place to stay while visiting La Mesa. The cottage is identical to the listing - the garden was so beautiful and a great place to relax. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans, any cooking appliance you would need , and a full spice rack - made cooking a total breeze. All listed amenities were present and made it feel like home.Host communication was excellent, all necessary information was provided well in advance and made it easy to check in and out. A word of caution, the street this home is located off of is quite busy. I would recommend backing into the driveway to make it easier to leave the property. Would definitely stay again!

Great host!

The garden cottage was inviting, clean, and comfortable. I love the modern look, the beautiful garden in the back, and the very close accessible highway. Barb is by far the best host that I have ever had with VRBO. Thanks for having us, we will surely stay at the garden cottage again the next time we are in town!

Perfect Place for a Getaway

My wife and I decided to visit the San Diego area for an early anniversary celebration and our stay at the Cottage in the Garden couldn’t have been better. Everything was as advertised and our hosts were not only friendly, but very gracious and accommodating. Should we visit the area again, we will definitely look to book another stay.

The Perfect Getaway

I recently stayed at this cottage while visiting my daughter who attends college in San Diego. I came from Pennsylvania for the week and was blown away by this beautiful studio. From the minute, I pulled into the driveway I loved every second that I was here. The cottage looks exactly like the photos and had everything you could ever want and more from perfect bedding to a heated toilet seat to several different coffee makers, and the most adorable backyard with beautiful flowers and trees. I unfortunately had four straight days of rain while visiting but was lucky enough to be here in this adorable cottage where I could sleep in and relax and watch TV shows while looking out at the beautiful backyard. It is located on a busy street, but it was very easy to get in and out of the driveway and each morning I took a long walk through the neighborhood and saw the most beautiful homes with fruit trees and the stunning mountains in the distance. I can’t wait to come back to San Diego and I will not hesitate to rent this cottage again.

Only reason location isn’t 5 star is because it was tricky to back out onto the main road. There’s nothing that can be done about it and everything else was perfect! I’ll be staying here again when I visit my kids.

Perfect San Diego Getaway

My teenage son and I loved Barb’s place. It was perfect! The amount of space was just right. The location was fantastic! Easy access to the freeway and we seemed to be 20-25 minutes, at most, from most major SD attractions. Barb supplied body wash, shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, bath towels, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, toilet paper, trash bags, and even had water and snacks. This was so thoughtful and convenient since most guests are flying in and not able to bring all of those items. The bedding was clean and comfortable. We had plenty of quiet and privacy. I sleep with a white noise machine and highway noise wasn’t an issue at all. As others have mentioned, the street is somewhat busy but we didn’t have any problems backing out. Just be careful. There is a bathtub but the stopper wasn’t holding the water. It wasn’t a big deal to me but it might be if you have small children. Also, there ARE curtains on the door and back door. This place was great and Barb was fast to reply to texts. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for couples or small families.

Fantastic Stay

The Cottage in the Garden was a great choice for our vacation in San Diego. It is a unique, modern, cool, and homey place that we called home. It has everything that one could ask for. The hosts have considered every detail...right down to warm chocolate chip cookies and a bottle of wine to greet you upon arrival. I am VERY picky in selecting where my family stays. This is a FANTASTIC place to stay. Consider this place for your next stay!
