Sea Quest - Waterfront apartment on Nelson's seafront

Unfortunately, this wasn't a good stay experience for guests or hosts. When the guests did not read our arrival instructions to note that our team needed to travel to the apartment to provide entry this resulted in an unexpected wait for them. Similarly, this resulted in their arriving in a vehicle that would not fit in the garage causing further inconvenience (the max. vehicle height of 2.0m is listed on our listings and in our arrival information to avoid this issue). So we were off to a bad start. While all seemed well at the check-in, the guests later reported issues around the insinkerator and cleanliness so we were quick to return and carry out extra cleaning to the guests satisfaction. Later in the stay, the guests spilled sauce in the foyer of the building triggering a complaint by other resident's to the building's body corporate. The body corporate had to send in a cleaner to address this and later reviewed their CCTV footage revealing that it had been these guests that had been responsible. We wish to emphasise several important points here... - These guests made zero effort to clean up their mess or notify us that this had happened, despite this having happened in the carpeted foyer area of this residential apartment building and despite their having cleaning products available to them as well as a clear request from us to notify us of any issues right away. - While we do our best during the check-in orientation and in our listing, arrival and in-house information to communicate how the building works and that charges will apply if costs are incurred as a result of a failure to do the right thing (eg. causing damage or extra work for those that care for the building).... if people just don't care enough to listen, read or even pick up after themselves then there is probably no fairer outcome then for those affected by such behaviour to be compensated for their time to put things right again. - While we did on-charge the building's costs/charges for the clean-up required and associated administration associated with that, we as hosts, did not add any charges for our time and the administration that we had to carry out as a result of these guests' actions. Hosts go to great efforts to ensure guests have enjoyable relaxing stays without issues. All we, and most hosts ask for in return, is reasonable care and respect for the properties we offer and for the communities in which we operate.
