Only 20 minutes from Taupo in a quiet location. Warm, clean and great internet!Would recommend to stay. We used the main house only, but the bunk looked great for extra people if needed.

Nice house in good location

The house was nicely located just a few steps from small beach to the lake. Owner was extremely helpful and communication was very responsive and quick.

Lovely little Bach with plenty of beds for family and friends awesome spot perfect for a nice relaxing weekend. Will be keen to come back next year with the boats.

Taupo lake hideaway

Our stay at Rieger Bach was just what the doctor ordered. So close to the lake but nice and hidden away for complete privacy. Bach was well suited to our needs for a long weekend away and we enjoyed our stay. Alistair was an excellent host and we most appreciate him. Looking forward to more stays.

Great house in a FANTASTIC location

My goodness, very cool rustic house in an AMAZING location. The neighborhood is great, and the locals are so friendly. So close to the water, and only 15 minutes out of Taupo. Alistair the host was great, was a pleasure staying at his house.

Great Hatepe bach

We had a great time and the bach had all we needed. The sleepout downstairs was really useful to spread the families out a bit. Super close to the lake.

Hatepe stay

Only about 12 minutes away from Taupo and 25 minutes from Turangi. Great location right by the lake side. I enjoyed the trees and the bird song when you were out on the deck. We enjoyed some great walks and cycle trails close by. The house was well equipped with everything we need.

A fabulous location by the lake

We had a lovely stay and will be back. It is just a 1 min walk to the lake where we could swim or kayak. The beds were very comfortable and the bach was dry and clean. It had a great shower and a well-kitted-out kitchen. The village's tennis courts have astro turf and were great to play on. 20 mins one way to the Tokaanu hot pools and 20 mins the other way to Taupo for shopping. We came away very refreshed.

Close to lake

Great house for 2 families with children. There would be a few safety hazards for children under 2 years (raised decking, 2 story windows, cleaners in low cupboards) but plenty of space for older children to run around with excellent lake access a 30 second walk away. There is a small lake view from the deck which is great while you wait for the lake conditions to cooperate. The bunk room has seperate access and bathroom which is handy for 2 families. Property was clean and owner was very accommodating. BBQ is large and came with gas. Boat launching very close by. Everything you could need and some in the house and kids loved riding the bikes. There was even loo paper and rubbish bags which not all Bach’s have, very handy extras! Thank you for an enjoyable stay!!

A cosy stay by the lake

Classic kiwi family bach right by the lake and far enough from the main road to be tranquil and peaceful. With a modern kitchen and a log burner the house was always pleasant and even though we had a lot of rain during our stay, we still had a great time.If you are a fishing person this is absolutely the spot for you, but we aren't and still very much enjoyed our stay. Some of the house is looking a little tired (new paint needed, some doors not closing properly, tattered curtains), but this is exactly as every kiwi family bach I have ever stayed at. So much more personality than the average accommodation out there. Being equidistant between Turangi and Taupō meant we could choose either direction for shopping or food, and the well equipped kitchen made cooking "at home" a breeze. I felt like the owners actually use the house, and that makes a real difference in terms of what is provided.I bet it's great in summer and I would definitely consider coming back at that time of year to take advantage of the lake activities. Even if it rains you can have fun trying to count all the fish paraphernalia in the house.
