Within 30 minutes of arriving at this property we spotted rats in the garden, they were coming from under the decking and patio area. There were overflowing bins outside, rats among these.There were numerous rat burrows in the garden and the rats were present throughout our stay, All 9 of of party members saw them regularly throughout our stay. The owner came within 12 hours to remove the bins. He put poison down but there is a major colony living in the garden and it needs professional extermination. The decking area was dilapidated and is not true to the photos. The garden sofa was covered in bird poo, the owner addressed the mucky sofa within 12 hours. There were mouse droppings in the cutlery drawer. The owner put poison down and cleaned within 12 hours.The bedroom cabinets were missing handles and half the drawers in the property in the main house were not uaseable. The owner blamed us but they were broken before our arrival.The property does have a beautiful outdoor space, less the decking area but it was overshadowed by rats.There was no 'welcome pack'.. e.g. Milk, bread etc.. or introduction to the property. Or information about the local area, small touches go along way.The bathroom was half decorated and was missing the cover to the light.When the host came he was very nice and friendly and helpful but the rat problem wasn't going to ho away over the duration of our trip.We did complain to Vrbo they refunded our service charge. Property needs loving
