The Garden Suite
Waterfront View and a Full English Breakfast!
The Garden Suite boasts stunning views of the Kalamazoo River and lush, natural landscapes from its bedroom and private balcony overlooking the water. The bright and cozy suite features a queen-size bed, a walk-in closet with mini-refrigerator, a private bath with shower, and is the only suite that doesn’t require climbing stairs. Just feet away from the common area, living space and communal pantry, luxury, privacy, and hospitality await you.

The Property
A warm attitude of hospitality welcomes you to Taste on the Lakeshore. The property features a private dock with FREE use of canoes and kayaks, fishing on the Kalamazoo River, large fire pit on the patio, and herb and flower gardens to enjoy. Our facilities are arranged for a romantic stay.

‱ Coffee, tea and snacks are available in the 24-hour Guest Pantry.
‱ Price includes a Full English breakfast. Complimentary wine and snacks are available late afternoon.

Minimum Stay
The Garden Suite requires a two-day minimum stay booking.
During Your Stay
Dennis and Jim live on the property in the Owners’ Suite and are available and willing to assist with itineraries, local information, and other recommendations. Each suite in Taste on the Lakeshore has a complete Guest’s Guidebook to the community and surrounding areas. Both owners have distinguished backgrounds in the hospitality industry, culinary arts, and higher education. They look forward to helping you create lasting memories of Western Michigan while respecting your need for privacy.

Beautiful and relaxing anniversary getaway

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful bed and breakfast, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, Dennis and Jim made us feel completely at home. Each morning started with a delicious, freshly prepared breakfast—thoughtfully crafted with locally sourced ingredients and so full of flavor. It was clear they put a lot of care and love into every dish. Beyond the amazing food, the owners were a treasure trove of local knowledge. Their recommendations for nearby attractions, dining spots, and hidden gems were absolutely spot on and added so much to our trip. Thanks to their guidance, we were able to experience the area like a true local. The attention to detail, warm hospitality, and personal touches made this stay truly unforgettable. If you’re looking for a place where you’ll feel cared for and well-fed, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!

An amazing place!

This was one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Dennis and Jim were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The house was just beautiful and we especially enjoyed the property. Sitting on the deck was relaxing and kayaking on the river was amazing. Breakfasts were delicious (Dennis was so thoughtful accommodating our vegan son), as was the coffee that was always prepared early enough so I could pour myself a cup before I went outside to watch the incredible sunrise. You won't regret booking a stay here.

Peaceful and relaxing stay

My wife and I had a wonderful time at this peaceful B&B and we could not have asked for better hosts. Dennis and Jim were so welcoming and addressed our every need. Every morning we were served a delicious breakfast, the perfect way to start the day. The property is gorgeous and we had a great time kayaking on the scenic Kalamazoo River. We thoroughly enjoyed this brief getaway and would love to come again.

The best of both worlds

Want a lovely, serene getaway? You got it! Plus, a 5-star breakfast. Looking for proximity to everything Douglas/Saugatuck has to offer? Score again! My husband and I loved this place. The accommodations, and the whole experience for that matter, were beyond expectations. Jim and Dennis seem to truly be committed to high end hospitality. We'll be back!

Best Trip Ever!

It was our first time staying at a B&B and we truly couldn't have asked for a better experience. Jim and Dennis were phenomenal hosts and did everything they could to make our stay spectacular. The Garden Suite was the perfect size for us, and was nice and private--and the views from the balcony were gorgeous! But the highlight for me was definitely our morning chats with Jim and Dennis as we ate our delicious breakfasts (still dreaming about that quiche!) We will definitely be back!

Getaway to the Garden Suite

Didn’t want to leave

We celebrated our anniversary with a weekend trip and stayed at this VRBO hosted by Dennis and Jim. The home was impeccable, clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The location was perfect for trips to the nearby towns (Saugatuck, Douglas etc. I cannot say enough about what a nice place this was to stay. Breakfast was unexpected in a VRBO and so welcome and delicious. We didn’t want to leave. Loved it and will return. Thank you Dennis and Jim.

Beautiful views and amazing hosts. We needed to get away from life and responsibilities for a weekend and this is the perfect space for our needs. The house itself was everything we could ask for but it is centralized too a few adorable towns and great restaurants. 100% recommend

Beautiful views and hospitality

Jim and Dennis were the most delightful hosts! Their home is absolutely serene and has amazing views. It was extremely clean, spacious and was exactly as the listing shared. Breakfast was delicious and they were very accommodating with some minor requests. The home is slightly outside of town and took only minutes to get to restaurants and shopping. We will definitely stay again when we are back in the area.

Heart warming hospitality at its finest!

Jim and Dennis truly deserve the title "Superhost." This was by far my best experience staying anywhere at any kind of property, including hotels, VRBO's and resorts. Their home is beatiful, meticulously maintained and extremely peaceful. Jim and Dennis are very welcoming, the breakfasts are fantastic and the conversations enjoyable. After only a few days, we felt like we were visiting old family friends instead of meeting hosts for the fist time. I would unreservedly recommend Taste on the Lakeshore to anyone i know looking for a peaceful getaway to recharge.

Fun Time

The house and hosts were amazing! We enjoyed the canoes and breakfast! The house is in close proximity to downtown and even has a shuttle service to and from.
