Welcome to Ma Ru Mar, a spacious 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom home with 2200 square feet for family and friends to stretch out in. This family home is one level with a great open Living/Dining room and Kitchen area. Featuring a fantastic porch with new swing, outdoor dining and gas grill, perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of the BlueRidge Mountains. The open floor plan features a gas-log fireplace so the family may enjoy the long winter nights reading, playing cards or enjoying one of the many games provided. There is plenty of seating, table space and bedrooms making this home a perfect vacation spot year round, a warm and inviting home away from home.

Ma Ru Mar is located in Holly Forest area of Sapphire Valley Resort, a single-family community, located 5 minutes from the Sapphire Valley Resort amenities. Here you will be able to enjoy the community center, recreation center ( indoor/outdoor pool, arcade room and fitness room), Fairfield Lake, Golfing, Zip-lining, Foot Golf as well as other amenities. In the winter months they provide ski slopes and snow tubing. Perfect location to getaway from the city and people, tucked into a small family community where peace and tranquility is a way of life. Make this your next "office" for a few weeks and enjoy the mountains.

Pure Contentment
Rental has everything to enjoy. Wives delighted with cleanliness. Everything WORKED , no repairs needed. Outstanding feature to us was all on 1 floor. Older people (we are in our 70's ) can negotiate without problems. Sitting area comfortably seats 6 or more. Appreciate land line as cell coverage can be off-and-on. Good fishable water for fly fishing a short distance away. I can't recall a time of more peace and contentment. To cook is a breeze and there are several dining areas as well as any cooking implement available. We would encourage others to look into this property and have booked for a full week soon.

Needs total overhaul
The house was NOT clean when we arrived. Had to spend a day cleaning the areas we use. The kitchen was dirty…hair and food in the refrigerator, food on pizza pan in oven, food pieces around garbage drawer, food drips down the cabinets. The master bathroom had hair in the drain and the toilet wasn’t cleaned. In most bathrooms the counter hadn’t been cleaned and there was toothpaste splatter. There was dust on every table and the outside grill needs to be replaced…it’s unusable. The house is large and very comfortable so it’s a shame the owner hasn’t kept up with maintenance and cleanliness. It looks as if they use it as a storage area. There were so many dishes and “stuff” in the kitchen…which is large and bright….that we only had one shelf for food items. The closets are crammed full with some space to hang clothes. The laundry room is disorganized with towels, sheets, and cleaning supplies in disarray. There are years of magazines everywhere. The house needs a thorough cleaning inside and out.

All around great place to stay
We had a wonderful eight days at this property. The house had everything we could possibly need or want, the host was easy to communicate with and helpful. We would definitely return for another visit.

Vacation from hell
From first arrival the porch patio was covered in debris, dust and pollen that required me to find a blower and broom to clean it before my family arrived. After family arrived we found that the master bathroom toilet did not work. Contacted the property manager and she never responded. We jury rigged it to partially work. Once the 7 adults in the house were together we began to realize the air conditioning did not work. Called property manager again. She said she controlled the thermostat from a different location and would turn it down to 72. We had to call her back again and told her the air conditioner was not cooling and sent pictures showing temperature inside the home was 81. Tried using several fans they had around the house and opened all the windows. Had to sleep with all windows and fans on which was very uncomfortable and the humidity was unbearable. She was very difficult to get a hold of or respond to us .we contacted her again and she said she would send someone out to look at it. An electrician arrived and said the compressor was shot and did not work. We immediately contacted the property manager and she told us to just open the windows and use the fans but if we wanted to leave they would consider prorating the rent. Two problems there was no where for us to go unless it was to cancel are vacation and go home to Florida and secondly paying any rent for a property that was basically uninhabitable at times was not a solution. We then contacted VRBO and they were at least respectful to us. But they would not help us to try and find another home in one of their several listings that still had vacancies. Their only response to what we could do was they could put us up for the night at a hotel which did not help us in any way. We were stuck and each day became more difficult. Then on Thursday there was a power outage and the generator kicked in but of course it didn’t matter because the air conditioner did not work WiFi did not work and you could not call anyone for help. That was the last straw. We left, cut our family vacation short and headed back to Florida. We contacted the property manager tell her we left and we left the keys on the patio because we could not drive downtown with the keys because traffic had been stopped because of the power outage and the property manager had the nerve to tell us she would charge us for the keys because the keys were not returned. VRBO was contacted but nothing has happened.
