Come & enjoy The Country Cottage in Spotswood( North Canterbury, Hurunui), with the spectacular views of the Lowrey Range & kaikoura Mountains!
The stunning views & peaceful rural outlook & convenient location, certainly ticks all the boxes!
The Cottage is located 60
Meters from state highway 1 so very easy access .

Cheviot Towship is only 7 km away, There you will find everything you need. Amazing Four Square for all your fresh food & supplies. Great Cafes, Bakery & Butchers. Cheviot Trust Hotel provides fabulous Meals and a big screen TV to watch those important Sporting Events!
Kaikoura is a short picturesque drive of 45mins and Christchurch only 90mins. Hamner Springs just over 60mins drive.

If your passing through on your travels and looking for that convenient, comfortable & peaceful stop over, or looking for a relaxing break away, Spotswood is Perfect.
The Cottage has a Classic Style but with a modern feel.
Large UpTo date Kitchen fully equipped and perfect for entertaining. Pantry full of all your basic items for your convenience.
Sunny warm north facing lounge with heat pump, and French doors that open up to outdoor patio.
Main bedroom with queen bed and beautiful views of the mountains and front garden.Second bedroom has a gorgeous brass double bed and third bedroom two single beds, both with lovely views. All equipped with linen.
Bathroom has a large shower & heated towel rack and separate toilet.
Fully equipped laundry.
If you are a train enthusiast...jump out to front lawn and wave to the coastal Pacific, always a Highlight.
The Cottage has beautiful gardens for you to wander around and enjoy.
For the Fishing enthusiast there are many fabulous rivers and beaches to choose from , and only a short drive away. Hurunui River Mouth, Waiau River, Conway & Motunau are ideal recreational spots. August is the start of the Salmon season! Get your fishing mates together & explore the area!
There's also many beautiful walks & places to explore.
We are pet friendly accommodating, but pre approval & conditions apply, so please contact me prior to booking to discuss further.
The Cottage is fully fenced, but not completely Doggie escape proof.
Dogs must be ok with neighbouring livestock ect & cats.

Beautiful property and wonderful hosts. Very warm and cosy family friendly and very clean and tidy. Apart from the morning freight train was beautiful look forward too next time.

Peaceful Country Retreat

I recently stayed at Spotswood Country Cottage and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The cottage is warm, cosy, and beautifully decorated, with a welcoming feel throughout. It was exceptionally clean and well-equipped, with all the essentials provided for a comfortable stay.Communication with Lesley, the owner, was excellent from start to finish. She was friendly, responsive, and made everything easy — from booking to check-in. It was clear she genuinely cares about her guests’ comfort and experience.A peaceful and relaxing spot — highly recommended.

We had a delightful stay at the Country Cottage in Spotswood over Easter weekend. The cottage was charming and thoughtfully decorated, with lots of little touches that made us feel welcome—like a lovely jar of preserves and fresh fruit and even Easter Eggs waiting for us. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee and tea, and there were plenty of linens and towels.Lesley also went out of her way to make our two greyhounds feel completely at home. She set out a big bucket of water, left a towel for their paws, and even provided tennis balls for them to play with. Those thoughtful gestures really made the stay feel special for all of us.We especially enjoyed sitting on the lanai, looking out at the curious cows next door—such a peaceful, rural setting. There’s a charming boutique right next door, and Lesley was incredibly responsive throughout our stay. Even though the cottage is near a railway line, the occasional train added a bit of character rather than being a disturbance.We highly recommend this spot for a relaxing weekend getaway.

This property is neat, tidy and well presented. Unfortunately it is within 40 metres of the main highway and the trucks kept noisily passing by all night long. Also we paid to have 2 small dogs with us but Leslie the host instructed us to keep these dogs on a leash and 'under control' whenever outside the rented house as her own 3 cats were 'outside cats that don't like dogs' and they liked to roam the property. I had initially asked if she keep her cats on her property. She reiterated that I was to leash the dogs when they were outside. Disappointing.

As responsible Pet Owners and Visiting Guests that bring their Pets on Holiday ,we take every care that both Pets are Safe & cared for . When we were told that the dogs weren't controllable around cats , I suggested a solution of putting the dogs on leads when outside. Don't see a problem with this . The Cottage is near the Highway, and again this is stated in the description, so sometimes traffic noise is unavoidable. Regards Lesley
