About the Home
-Expansive great room with floor-to-ceiling windows, stone fireplace (Dura-flame logs only, please), and pool table.
-Dining for 6, with additional kitchen table seating for 4.
-State-of-the-art kitchen featuring a smooth surface stove, stainless steel refrigerator, drip-style coffee maker, and dishwasher. Note: The water dispenser and ice maker on the refrigerator do not work.
-Wraparound deck with charcoal grill, a variety of seating for sunbathing and relaxing, and a hot tub
-Upper-level loft-style library with seating
-Lower-level living room with Smart TV for streaming.

Winter months (December to March) may bring icy or snowy roads; AWD/4WD is recommended, and travel insurance is suggested. Gateway Mountain does not allow parking on roadways or at gate entrances, and RVs, boat trailers, or other trailers are not permitted.

We all had a great time.Kitchen was well stocked and property maintained. I might add to the listing a 4 wheel drive vehicle would be helpful. It is really up there.Beautiful scenery!

Beautiful decor and very interesting pieces all around. The hot tub was great. Pool table was used frequently but sure would be helpful to have a light over it. When the house was built they did not put light kits in any of the ceiling fans so most light was lamps. Kitchen had better lighting. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking implements. Our main issue was the steep driveway. Came in at night and the road coming up to the house was very steep and scary. Recommend and or 4 wheel.

Beautiful Relaxing Home!

We really enjoyed staying at this home. Waking up to the views every day, ending our day of adventure in the hot tub with a glass of wine was perfect! Would recommend this home and look forward to returning next year.

Beautiful long weekend

We had a peaceful long weekend in Big Sky Lodge. Much larger house than expected with great entertainment room in the center of the home. Beautiful long view of the valley and great hot tub and well stocked kitchen equipment to make a meal at home. The neighborhood is far from restaurants but between Lake Lure and other outdoor activities so just plan ahead if you want to dine out. The rental company was great about contacting us with plenty of details before the stay so we had everything we needed for a relaxing trip

A Remarkable Place to Unwind

Our family experienced one of our best vacations at this cabin. The location is secluded, but within a pleasant drive of all the recreational opportunities that Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Black Mountain, Asheville, and the Blue Ridge Parkway have to offer. With the exception of one heavy thunderstorm which blew a multitude of branches and debris onto the deck from the surrounding trees, we were blessed with beautiful weather and the stargazing was amazing. The accommodations were peaceful and relaxing and we enjoyed visiting the community waterfall and fishing pond, playing pool, soaking in the pristine water of the well-maintained hot tub, sitting by the fire, and just rocking on the porch listening to the melody of the windchimes as they fluttered in the breeze. Our teen liked having his own bedroom, bathroom, and comfortably furnished living space in the expansive walkout basement. Overall, the home was exceptionally clean and our stay was 5 stars up until approximately 10 minutes before we departed when we removed the bedding from the beds on which we slept as requested. Upon taking the still white sheets off the bed where our teen had slept, we discovered multiple dark stains on the mattress pad beneath. We left a brief note expressing our disappointment, but no one ever responded. Hopefully, the stains were residual after laundering, but if stains cannot be removed in the wash, such items should be replaced for guests’ peace of mind. Otherwise, we had a delightful time here and we are grateful to the owners for making this property available for us to create wonderful memories.

Amazing property

We had a wonderful time in this beautiful cabin! The views are absolutely incredible. The cabin is featured with all the extras to make your stay very comfortable. The house was very clean and Asheville is ~45-50 min away. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great time was had by all

Had a great time in the mountains. Came to race ORAMM. Had a good hike to Chimney Rock. The kids asked if we could stay at the house forever after only being there for 2 hours. Would definitely recommend this house for a visit to the area.

Revelation from Big Sky Lodge in the Gateway Mountain Community

Revelation from Big Sky Lodge in the Gateway Mountain Community on 5/8/21. My son,Judd, and his family from Peru, Jazmin and little Jano, revealed the coming of precious Jolee into their lives in July of 2021. The inspirational mountain views became the setting to share their news with the world of their daughter making her way to this wonderful and beautiful planet. She will be one of many to keep hope alive for us all. This took place on the porch of Big Sky Lodge. We give thanks to Greybeard Realty in Old Fort, NC and the owners who have opened up their spectacular home. In so doing, the Sanders' family were able to open their hearts from Big Sky Lodge! Lack of empathy

When we arrived we were told the hot tub was leaking and we could not use it. We are understanding of this said it was ok but hoped it would be fixed. After day 2 we were told it would not be fixed during our stay. We refunded $250. However, a reasonable refund would have been $500. Lastly requiring guest to take out their own trash and be sure the dishwasher it emptied before leaving is unreasonable. These tasks can certainly be delegated to housekeeping which guests are happy to for

Amazing views

The home was literally as outstanding as it appears in photos. The entire rental process was straight forward and I was well-communicated with. This was a great house to enjoy spectacular scenery and quiet time. I recommend the house and the property management company are extremely professional.

Wonderful Escape

This home was so quiet and beautiful. It felt secure and peaceful and offered wonderful amenities. The hot tub and jacuzzi were absolutely a highlight. Beautiful mountain views, you're living in the sky here. It was a perfect escape from the stresses of work and life.

Hot tub and views are AMAZING

The house is huge: the listing says 3 bedrooms... it’s 5. Booked it for a girls trip and we had a blast! Very remote. The gate to the “gated community” was broken, and the house is far up the mountain. Make sure you get there in daylight to be able to read the small road signs. Would be an awesome House for a large family as the whole downstairs is set up perfect for kids with a living area, arcade games and 2 bedrooms.
