GREAT location, updated unit, but a few suggestions...
Overall, we had a good experience at the property. We loved the location as it was away from the tourist crowds that are further north on the island. The building is older, but that also means that it's generally quieter, which is what we wanted. We had a beautiful view from our deck of the ocean each morning, and easy access to the beach.
The unit has had a surface remodel which gives it a nice feel as you walk in. Floors, countertops, some furnishings, paint, fixtures, plantation shutters -- these have been updated. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets have been painted but not replaced so they still have an older feel.
That said, we appreciated that the unit already had some items in the pantry we could make use of and all necessary essentials in the kitchen and bathrooms. There were some beach chairs and several nice beach toys available in the unit, and this is a top-floor unit, which was also nice!
4 suggestions to the owner to improve your guests' experience:
1) Better mattress in the master bedroom. Because this is a minimum month-long rental, having a great mattress is important. You want your guests to sleep well and that is super important to us. The mattress was not good in the master and we had to order a thick mattress topper to make it usable.
2) Coffee table in the living room. If you want to eat dinner while watching TV, or have a place to set a drink down, play a game, etc., a coffee table would be helpful.
3) Wifi!!! We have never stayed somewhere where we did not have free wife and internet access. We were shocked when we arrived that this was not included and this was essential as we both work remotely online. It was in the fine print, but renter beware.
4) Ceiling fan on the outside patio. Simple addition, but would make sitting out there more enjoyable especially when it's really humid or the afternoon sun is on you.
Overall, you rent this unit for its location which is right on the beach, with uninhibited views of the ocean.
