Adventure awaits! Western NC and North GA abound with opportunities for recreation and relaxation. Just a 1 minute walk to Lake Chatuge. Set your sights on long-range views with visits to Bell Mountain in Hiawassee (18-minute drive) and Brasstown Bald (highest point in GA, 25-minute drive). Spend the day on Lake Chatuge with a boat or personal watercraft rental from a local marina or launch your own from nearby public access. Want to immerse yourself in nature in the Nantahala National Forest? Bring your mountain bikes and ride the first-class trails at Jackrabbit Mountain (also great for hiking and dog-friendly)16 minutes from the property. Fires Creek Recreation Area (25-minute drive) is another Western NC local favorite for hiking with picturesque views, swimming, and trout fishing. On the GA side, take a 30-minute drive to a waterfall hike via the High Shoals Falls Trail or make the 38-minute drive to Alpine Helen, GA for a taste of Bavaria in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Brasstown Resort is a 7 minute drive. Hungry and thirsty after a day of exploration? Visit the outstanding local restaurants, wineries, and breweries in and around downtown Hayesville and Hiawassee for not-to-be-missed tastes of local flavor.

We love the #lakelife around here as well as the majestic mountains. So much to do and see right in town. We have a handy Welcome Book in the house full of Places to Eat, Things to Do, Shopping, Hiking and Waterfall Trails. Wineries abound; they’re everywhere! And a short 25 min drive to Helen for tubing or zip lining.

There are several excellent boat rental places in the area! We use Lake Chatuge Marine, Young Harris Water Sports, Boundary Waters... The fellas will help you out! All kinds of water toys too like jet skis, standup paddle boards and kayaks.

Hike or drive to the apex of Bell Mountain, which overlooks Lake Chatuge below and provides picturesque mountain views. Shooting Creek Overlook is breathtaking. Visit Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. Jackrabbit Mountain and Chatuge Dam. Both Towns County (Hiawassee GA) and Clay County (Hayesville NC) have super parks and beaches. Trailheads of the Appalachian Trail, which spans from Georgia to Maine, are less than 10 miles from this home.

Guest have access to the whole property with the exception of 2 closets.
Guest have full access to the garage, tennis/pickleball courts, and walking trail around the perimeter of the property .

* Tennis racquets and balls need to be brought and/or provided by the renters.
* We also have a couple of basketballs, wiffle balls/bat and soccer balls in the garage for renters’ use as desired.
